No, this isn't one of those threads, this is an actual game we're talkin' 'bout here.

This is the most amazing thing to suddenly be announced ever. So much nerd joy right here.
I really want to see some of the actual gameplay though. Perhaps in a future trailer.

Looks pretty cool however this looks like it caters more to Layton than to Ace Attorney in terms of setting at least.

For anyone who hasn't read the article on it, here it is
Layton and Ace Attorney Team Up on 3DS
Capcom and Level-5 team up for an unexpected crossover.
October 19, 2010
Two of Japan's biggest franchises are teaming up. Capcom and Level-5 are combining forces for the true ultimate crossover: Professor Layton vs Ace Attorney! And it's coming to 3DS.
Announced at today's Level-5 Vision press conference in Tokyo, Professor Layton vs As Attorney puts Professor Layton and Phoenix Wright in a mysterious new world where peculiar things are happening. A villain named Story Teller writes the future of the world with his pen. Meanwhile, witches live in the shadows. Perhaps they're scared of the game's key word: "Witch Trials."
Phoenix Wright will have his services sought out by a girl who's suspected of witchcraft. Layton will find himself battling some all new puzzles.
How this will all blend together is a mystery at this point, but with Ace Attorney designer Shu Takumi heading up the new game's scenario, we can't wait to play it!
No release date was announced at the press conference, but Level-5, who will be publishing in Japan, did share some artwork. Take a look in our media gallery while we go on the hunt for some additional info.

Re: Professor Layton vs. Ace Attorney
What the hell? This is even weirder than Takarazuka's Phoenix Wright musical...
Not saying it's bad, I just can't believe I'm awake.
Also, it's always weird when you mix two art styles...
Also also, Capcom is just working with everyone these days now aren't they?
And how will this game justify a 3DS-only release?

So... They're using movie quality animation to confuse me? I've never played either game, but if THIS was a movie, I'd watch it. Damn trailer having awesome music.

For those in want of a translation of the trailer, here's a helpful link: http://kalfisquine.redmongoose.net/blog/?p=779
Also, I heard something disturbing. Apparently Capcom and Level-5 aren't planning on releasing this stateside; it's Japan only at the moment. The reason? 'Cause the Ace Attorney series isn't as popular here, so I suppose they don't think it will sell as well. So unless they hear some huge outcry from fans then they aren't planning on a NA release.
I'm hoping this is only a rumor or some sort of publicity stunt. 'Cause seriously, that's just stupid.
