Site formatting problems.

Post by Erranty »

So for a couple days now (on and off) I've noticed that occasionally when you go into a topic the text is suddenly GIANT!!!! I'm wondering if this is a site thing, or something that's wrong with this new version of firefox, or something else all together. Just wondering.

Nothing wrong on my side D:

Maybe it's your internet connection? Because sometimes (though that's more in Facebook and other sites), when my internet is slow enough or i'm downloading too much crap, the pages don't load up correctly, and so end up looking without format, without images, with HUGE text, etc. Refreshing usually fixes that.

And there's other times in which i forget that Ctrl+Scroll-thingy on my mouse increases the text size of pages in general (something i end up doing by mistake wheneve copy/pasting stuff and trying to scroll at the same time)...though that's more of a "human error" than anything. And whenever that happens i just press Ctrl+0 and the text goes back to normal.

So, it might be any of those things, or something with your new version of Firefox indeed (though i also use FireFox and don't remember any version update recently o-O')...or something else. Doubtfully a site thing though, since i've never seen any text problem like that (except those mentioned), and let me tell you..i browse through the forums and check through topics ALOT everyday D:

Actually, I've been holding off on up dating firefox. I only finally let it go from 3.5 to 3.7 a few weeks ago.

Refreshing did work though. I'm still wondering what caused it in the first place. I have nothing downloading.

Have you done this yet?

Or by chance checked the site on a different browser?

I don't use different browsers anymore. Saifari's too slow, Chrome is like firefox without apps, Internet Explorer is a virus magnet, and Netscape is dead.

Also CTRL+O is the open command... Why would that do anything?

No, not Ctrl + O, Ctrl + 0 as in zero, "oh", the number...it wasn't a typo or anything >3> Ctrl + O is the Open command indeed, but Ctrl + 0 is a command that restores the website's text size to the original format, in case it was changed by another FireFox command. So if the text size was changed by some FireFox thing, Ctrl + 0 should get it back to normal.

And though checking the site with a different browser could help...It's most likely either a random format error or a text size error that wouldn't show in another browser at the same time, and you'll spend more time checking in another browser than simply refreshing the current Firefox page.

BTW, if it happens once again and Ctrl + 0 doesn't fixes it immediatly, maybe taking a screenshot would be helpful. At the very least so i can compare it with the random errors i get myself (either increasing the text size or when i overload myself of downloads).

Lulz

I checked your screenshot and compared it to the Firefox size thing, and found out they were different because what Firefox does is actually a "zoom" of the page in general, and so tables, images, buttons, etc also get bigger...while in the screenshot it's only the text that went big, leaving everything the same.

So i continued with my daily post checking before replying this, and at one certain topic, the one where they're talking about Pokemon BW, i fact, i saw the same thing as you...the page loaded correctly, with nothing bad or anything, except a huge text and only the text, everything else remaining the same size. Ctrl + 0 didn't do a thing, and refreshing the page got it back to normal. Therefore, i blame AIDA or BEN which spread from you to me through that screenshot, and i'm going to burn my computer now.

...
Seriously, it just happened to me, and funny how it NEVER happened before, until soon after seeing the screenshot. Wow XD But well, at least i got to really see it "personally" now, and it's not the common "slow internet/format error" or Firefox sizing thing....What it is then? I have no idea and don't even know if it's related to Firefox or to dothackers...but it happens and refreshing fixes it o3o lol
