Yeah, back when I was younger and watched it I was so confused on what was going on at the moment.
Of course I still watched cause Ken was one of my favorite characters
Also back on topic I played lost evolution, it was fun and they had a **** load of digi scans including the royal knights WOOT!

Ryo exists in the Tamers universe due to a universal reboot. While originally an Adventure character that knew Ken, his journey through the various dimensions required him to reboot his existence along with that of Milleniummon's. He is, as far as anyone in the multiverse can tell, born in the Tamers world and is a part of it, and Seasons 1+2 are just a TV show to him. He even has a family there!

Ken is the only person who remembers Ryo whatsoever, due to their intimate connection and the fact that without Ryo's existence, Ken's backstory makes no sense to the fabric of space/time.

I don't see how you can possibly see Tamers as an angsty Evangelion knockoff in any sense but the vaguest usage of common tropes. Just because both series have depressed kids with dead mothers doesn't mean one's the knockoff of the other.

Mostly a joke in what I was saying(I like Tamers alot), aside from the many Evangelion references, and the main writer being a huge Evangelion fan, it's not just character archetypes.

Wargrowlmon being the largest offender of having straight Eva Unit design in him, and Takato feeling the pain he does in his first scene he appeared being some of the very obvious references.

D-Reaper having a very similar mask to Lilith(with the same goal), Gallantmon Crimson Mode and awakened Eva-01, etc.

Well he did write Lain, and I do see it as a definite influence that carried over.

There's even less similarities. The masks are two different colors, Lilith's mask has seven painted on eyes made in a kabbalistic arrangement and is perfectly smooth, while the D-Reaper's mask has one huge orb in it as a containment cell along with a bunch of grooves in it. What, exactly, do the masks have in common?

Though Wargrowlmon's was based off Eva-01's to be specific.

Only if you've never seen a goddamn Evangelion. In what way is WarGrowlmon's bulky, cumbersome, tank-like design remniscent of the more beastial, nimble, slender, dancer-like Evangelions?
