Most users ever online pointless?

Post by zaseo »

What is the point of the Most users ever online thing? It is just there to be there, or something? Well everyone that comes to the site doesn't have an account yet still. Why not tell everyone from social networking sites to join? It is like the only thing that hasn't changed in anyway.

You're pretty much right in the "it's there to be there", i'd say XD It just has been there for as long as i remember and most likely even before that, and in most forums i've seen there's always the "Most users online" thing...which serves as nothing much except as either some sort of record to admire and/or try to beat someday, or as a quick means to judge or see the activity of a forum...which isn't going to help much for these forums, considering that one record has been there since 2007, and nowadays we only have like 10 active users per day at most XD It's not bad to have it though, i think o3o

And i don't think that there's been any message in the social networking sites from dothackers (that is...their Facebook and Twitter pages) actually inviting members to the forums. The messages posted are mostly dedicated to spread the latest news concerning .Hack or even CC2 in general, be these latest anime news, or the Sotalaboro-or-whatever announced thing, or even their own anime panels. I'm not exactly sure, but i'd say it's because there's no need to be "pushy" about wanting members to get registered to the forums. They spread the information and link all the fans directly to the site...and, if they're really interested in talking about it or interacting with other fellow .Hack fans, they wouldn't think much before joining to the forums. And instead, if they were all pushy with inviting members...then more than new members, we'd get lot of new accounts that are going to be unused in a few days or even hours...or people asking about the Soul Eater manga in the LINK section :/

That comes with the forum.
Every forum I've ever been a part of has had it somewhere on the site.

Yeah, but with forums that have been around since the mid-00's, the record is just the day the board had its biggest bot invasion, not the day with the most actual people. This forum's top count was definitely a victim of that period.

True o-o
And yeah, even in the "brighest" days of the forums, with lots of people active all around and lots of discussion in both the IMOQ games (which almost everyone had just played and had lot to talk about) and the GU games (with just Rebirth released and lots of people having the biggest expectations and the craziest of theories), i don't think i ever saw more than 40 active members. I don't think i was here the day such "record" was set, though i just assumed that it was a day with like 30 active members....and LOTS of guests, which were alot back in the day D: (and the old forum layout did show the amount of guest members ...i think o-o; )

I was one of those quest at first for awhile until I made an account. Bots can be annoying on the internet. I think earlier this year there was bots on. If I remember correctly it was Google Bot, MSN Bot, and a few others.
