Avatar: The Legend of Korra *SPOILERS*

Post by Erranty »

Yep, it's been officially announced. It takes place 70 years after the end of the first series, in a steam punk style era.

KNOWN KORRA FACTS:
* The title "Avatar: Legend of Korra" was trademarked by Viacom.
* Job openings were listed months ago for an "Untitled Avatar Project".
* Mike and Bryan are involved in the project, and said in a book signing in June that an announcement would be made "soon", perhaps before SDCC.
* It's going to be a new Avatar series, and it will premiere on Nickelodeon in 2011.
* "The Legend of Korra" takes place 70 years after the events of the original Avatar series.
* Korra is the waterbending Avatar after Aang, a passionate, rebellious and fearless teenage girl from the Southern Water Tribe, who has already learned three elements and needs to master Air.
* Aang and Katara's son, Tenzin, will be Korra's airbending sifu.
* The epicenter of the modern Avatar world is Republic City, a metropolis fueled by steampunk technology. It is a virtual melting pot where benders and non-benders from all nations live and thrive.
* Korra discovers that Republic City is plagued by crime as well as a growing anti-bending revolution that threatens to rip it apart.
* Mike and Bryan said there's going to be a "definite link" between ATLA and TLOK.
* "The Legend of Korra" will be more mature than the original show, but will still have the same sense of fun and adventure.
* The Track Team, who did the music and sound for the original series, will also be working on the new series.

Before I say anything else, I must say this: if M.Night Shamalayn goes anywhere near this, I think I'll start an angry mod and take him out. I don't even think he should watch this.

Ahem....

Well, this actually looks quite interesting. Maybe it will show an 86 year old Zuko visiting his mommys grave and having a slight flashback on him finding his mummy.

And we don't have to deal with the BS of Korra learning the other elements because we've seenit done before, just not air.

And its funny how Boomy lived to be 112 and going during ATLA, but Aang couldn't even make it out of his sixties, if my math is correct.

Aang, according to Erranty's data, would be around 170, since he was frozen in ice for 100 years.

I just keep getting good news this week, huh? Y'know it's funny that you mentions Zuko visiting his mother's grave. At the end, when Zuko visits his father in prison, he specifically asks where his mother is... and that's all that happens with that. And before that, his father hints at her not actually being dead. They also never specified whether Jet died in Ba Sing Se or not (it was hinted during the episode, but it was poked at later in the parody episode where they watch the parody performance of the Aang's journey).

The series has done an excellent job covering up plotholes, so maybe those 2 are ones that were meant for this series?

Either way, this looks bad-ass.
“The show can be summarized by ‘I’m firing my magic at full-power at you at point blank range, so don’t move!'” ~ KuroNeko (Ore no Imouto ga Konnani Kawaii Wake ga Nai)

Well lets see, he was 11 when he was frozen, 12 at the end of the series. Then 70 more years pass (though he must've died before then since the girl is in her mid-late teens). Even if he and Katara had their son when Katara was 30 (she's 2 years older than Aang) that would make Tenzin 54 in "The legend of Korra", which seems appropriate for an Airbending master teaching a student.

A good question would be, "Why did Aang and Katara only have 1 kid?! They need to repopulate the world with airbenders!"

And then there's my original question which concerns a major plot whole, "How the hell did the airbenders lose?" They can make your lungs explode, create vacuums to suck the oxygen out of the air (thus eliminating the fireballs), and collectively they could make tornadoes. Seriously, how the hell did they lose?

Um well, the only reson I think that the Air Nomads lost was due to their lack of weaponry, monk-like morals, and females apparently?(Have you seen one female in Aang's flashbacks?) I'm sure that during the time he went to the Fire nation school they mentioned the Air Nomads...

Katara was supposed to have three great grandchildren before she passed away in her sleep, so there may be more than one airbender, if they are airbenders. Remember, she is a water bender, so she may pass the trait to her kids as well, and its really a coin toss. Tenzin may be the only Airbender of the bunch.

New info. It's supposed to be a 12 episode mini-series. They're cutting it short so all the episodes are great, instead of some pointless fillers.

I think its a good idea, since they're just putting in a bit of closure for the series instead of trying to milk an old cow.
