Re: Cracking down on scanlation sites
I work so I can buy my manga and have never complained, although, most of the mangas I buy I've found through the internet, and have come to enjoy them. I buy pokemon special and . hack and Air Gear, Soul Eater, Yugioh, etc. I respect the manga industry, and once I see a manga that I really like, I stop reading it online and read it in person.
No matter how high the wall. No matter how thick. My love surmounts them all. Like a bird. Flying to you. Forever and ever.

Hu steamy. Art has always been taken for granted but at least its popular. I'd wonder but in the end its not something the individual can settle. Luck to either side ya?

Re: Cracking down on scanlation sites
The rise of scan sites like Onemanga and Mangafox has coincided with a dip in manga sales, and no one thinks that’s a coincidence.

Re: Cracking down on scanlation sites
Even though as demonstrated by posters on the issue, the connection between the two phenomena are quite backwards. It's not that manga sales are dipping due to these websites, but that these websites are rising BECAUSE manga sales are dipping on their own.

Re: Cracking down on scanlation sites
Well apparently they are cracking down. Onemanga is closing down. I don't suppose you mind me mentioning them, they were mentioned earlier and now their dead. So yeah, I guess I wont be reading any manga for awhile. Even the ones I feel like buying haven't gotten to that point in the story in English yet..

I hope everyone gets rare items in their stockings!

Yep just went to Onemanga. They're closing down next week and removing it all by then.Tolby wrote:Well apparently they are cracking down. Onemanga is closing down. I don't really do it habitually or anything, but it's nice when discussing manga and ****. "Hey, wait, when did that happen?" "On this page right here." "Oh."

YOU ARE!Ratsu wrote:I feel like the only person in the world who dose not look up Manga online. O.o;
I only read 3 online (Bleach, Naruto, Bakuman). It's going to be quite depressing seeing OM shut down, although their forums are still there.
Re: Cracking down on scanlation sites
It's a shame that onemanga is closing. But apparently they could've stayed open, mangafox is just dropping the manga that gets licensed for English versions from its list to avoid being shut down. I'll be looking more at the translators sites now though, just to make sure I still get to read my favorite ones.

Put my feelings this way;
To all the publishers of graphic novels; If you're going to go about shutting down a site, THEN MAKE THE F*CK SURE THAT YOU CAN SUPPLY ALL THE TITLES ON THAT SITE TO EVERY BOOK STORE YOU CAN.

Re: Cracking down on scanlation sites
why not just buy the books online instead of going to a book store? ( I have to do that every now and then. )

Re: Cracking down on scanlation sites
Well, in my case, my parents don't let me buy anything at all using the internet ._._Tri-edge_ wrote:It makes no difference really.Ratsu wrote:why not just buy the books online instead of going to a book store? ( I have to do that every now and then. )

The time they take to get to your doorstep is still the same D:_Tri-edge_ wrote:It makes no difference really.Ratsu wrote:why not just buy the books online instead of going to a book store? ( I have to do that every now and then. )
Plus, it's more expensive to import the books than it is to buy them in a shop.
Added to that, Manga is already OUTRAGEOUSLY expensive.
EDIT: @Dimitri- If that's the case, then you must be hella depressed that Bakuman's no longer being posted online, seeing as only vol.1 was out in the sates when I went there for the summer...

That, and if a store doesn't carry a book, their online counterparts usually don't either.

Re: Cracking down on scanlation sites
Thats very true. =/ but I find I don't have alot of time for books now days. Its like the day you turn 21, you life is devoted to collage and work... I miss my youth filled with video games and manga! D:
