Dragon Quest XI

Post by Tack »

So which one should I pick up first guys? Dragon Quest XI for the DS or .hack//link for the PSP?

What's the advantage and disadvantageous of both?

Also with Dragon Quest, do you need a friend nearby to be able to play co-op quests, or do they also use friend codes?

And should I rent either first or just go for it?

Also, what is the release date for the U.S. (Will it or is it only import?) and will it be bilingual or just English (If there is an official date.)

This is the wrong area for this.

Most of us haven't had a chance to play either unless you speak Japanese.

Isn't kind of redundant to ask this on a .hack forum? Of course everyone will tell you to get the .hack game.

This is the right area, and DQIX is out here actually. I've only played Link, so I'm not sure about DQ's normal multiplayer, but based on what my friend's told me it's actually harder for him to do DQIX's passive "surechigai" (forget what it's called in the U.S. version - but basically people running this mode in the area stop in your "inn" and you gain maps or something- afaik you can't do this over the internet) multiplayer in America than it is for me to find someone here to play Link with. Then again he doesn't setup DQ con panels or anything, and Link Play is easy to use over the internet.

On the other hand, actually go to Japan (with the Japanese version) and it's far easier to do surechigai than it is to find someone to play Link with. There's also this dopeass DQ-themed bar in Roppongi called Luida's Bar, where you can get custom maps and Slime nikuman and stuff. I've been there, it's pretty awesome. It's reservation only. They loop the bar theme until you go insane.

Famitsu gave DQIX a much better review than Link, but looking at Amazon I think .hack fans liked Link more than DQ fans liked IX, on account of the whole ganguro thing... (even though .hack has like three...)

There's no U.S. release date set for .hack//Link yet, but we're hoping there will be. There's still plenty of time, most .hack games took nine months to come out here.

This is the right area,
It wasn't when I posted. It had been moved, as it was originally in like... the //Link Manga section.
