Re: Durarara!!
I watched it, it was awesome. I wasn't hooked right away, but after seeing Heiwajima throw a vending machine (or whatever), I was like, LOL this is great! xD The humour in this show fits my tastes perfectly, I suppose because my own sense of humour is slightly morbid.
It's weird, even though there were some parts that were completely fictional, like the headless fairy lady, it almost seemed believable the way they portrayed it. I also liked that it was in a modern setting as well, with all the street gangs and such.

Re: Durarara!!
yeah, that's certainly one of the few things I like about it
I'll probably catch up on it once the popularity dies down a bit, though xD (Don't ask why, hard to explain XD)

Re: Durarara!!
I actually started watching this yesterday and... well... after the whole "Yo... Yo... YO! HEY MAN!!" scene, I fell in love with it. Mostly because that guy was funny as hell, and then the epic fighting that ensued.
I had no idea that Durarara!! was so popular/big... or at least that there was "hype" about it. Only thing that made me notice it was getting a newsletter from CrunchyRoll (oddly enough, I never go to the site). I think it'd be better if I just get the link for that article instead of my feeble attempt to explain the anime.

I only read about the "nice animation" and "good music" but for some reason the name just stuck with me. Laaaater I'm browsing Danbooru (shut it, I like my reference pictures for drawing and Touhou pictures and I can't read Japanese so Pixiv is out) and find a nice fanart of Anri Sonohara, see the tag "Durarara" and remember "Oh yeah, the not-so-amazing-seeming anime that's actually good, I could use crap to watch."
I'm a fan of anime, sure, but I don't consider myself real savvy with it or anything, so I didn't notice anything cliche really. But then again, what the hell isn't cliche? I can't put my finger on it, but I really like it. It's a nice, urban storyline with some plain weird twists that make you want to watch the next episode, even if you're pretty sure where it's going (just finished 9). I also love the characters, especially Shizuo and Celty... oh and Simon, but I haven't seen much background for him yet... except that he's a Russian of African descent and speaks fluent Japanese and Russian (what's not to love right there?)
I didn't want to get into Haruhi Suzumiya after hearing all the freaking hype EVERYWHERE, but a friend had convinced me to try it and I really did like it, but I've gotta say, I like Durarara!! a lot more. For some reason it has a "Haruhi" feel and the whole relationship thing in episode 9 made me think of Higurashi no Naku Koro ni.
I really do think the first episode is worth a try, it'll explain a lot of the basic stuff throughout the series, and possibly get you hooked. If you wanna see the epic ghetto guy/ganguro girls/Izaya/Shizuo scene, at least watch episode 3. First time an anime made me laugh out loud in a long time.

Re: Durarara!!
Um, actually, I've seen the first six episodes o3o'' dunno if I posted that in my first post or not.
Again, for like, the millionth time, I'm not saying it's a bad anime, I'm just saying I like Baccano better.
Um. If you haven't seen Baccano, it's basically Durarara, only, um, better. Sure it's not urban or whatever (takes place in Chicago 'round the 1930's) but it's still friggen cool.
Also, if you liked the way the relationship with the characters are in Durarara, you'll probably like how they are in Baccano too.
Also, the style is pretty much the same. Though if anything I'd say the violence is more graphic. (Durarara's violence isn't too bad iirc, but Baccano's is; which is a plus if ya ask me ;3)
Oh, and I mentioned this already, but the two shows were made by the same person and even the same animation company, so it's not like I have anything against the creators or the method of story tellling or anything XD
But yeah, I've been there for the hype. Not fun. Or rather, I just don't know what there is to be hyped up about. It's a good show. But not amazing. So I don't....ugh.
Here, I think this person summed it up better than I ever could. especially seeing as how I'm basically repeating myself 8I

Re: Durarara!!
"but in terms of "badassery/rebelry" I've seen better. Izaya's alright but in some ways I think he's more mild than some other "badass" anime characters out there. Maybe like 5-6 years ago I would have gone crazy for a character like that but now it's just a notch above, "meh, seen it." "
This was the only thing that bothered me. I'm not a super mega fan of Izaya or anything, I'm just a fan of him and his work with cellphones. He's mild because he's HUMAN (as far as I know). Not all badguys can be super mega rape/kill... otherwise you'd be going overkill. Of course you're going to go "meh, seen it" because EVERYTHING is cliche... it's just a matter of if you're familiar with the cliche or how it's done. If the character doesn't fit into one cliche, it'll just fit into another. The best you can do is tweak a character and make them a person instead of a character you've seen before but in different skin. =/
Honestly, I'm not so sure why I liked Haruhi as much as I did either... and I'm the same way with Durarara!! I think one of the key things for me was that I DIDN'T know about the hype and praise for the show, I just saw an article that pointed at faults, but said there was more to it. I guess I see where hype can be a killer in a non-petty way. If people keep telling you it's so good, you'll get sick of hearing that it's so good, try it, and go "Wow... that's not all THAT impressive." I'm also a pretty lenient critic and try to like something for what it has. I also tend to like most things I watch... so yeah...;;
I think I like it because it's a high-school type story with a more gritty, urban touch... and then they give it a weird little twist. I don't get out much at all, so the urban-ness is appealing to me. The show is weird, but not outrageously weird, so it makes me wonder "Okay, how does this all tie in, who's who and what are they associated with, what's their story" etc.
I might have to give Baccano a try, since it's the same maker and all. They're posters and ads for it in Durarara!! too. Also, there's a relationship between the both in episode 7. I've seen it, but I won't spoil it. :x

Re: Durarara!!
Well, it's not like they're saying anything bad about the guy 8U It's just for someone like me, he kinda comes off as trying too hard, even though he is human that we know of. I know comparing him to say, someone like Alucard, wouldn't be fair because, as you said, it would be too over-the-top, especially for such an urban/slice of life with an odd twist type of show that Durarara is.
I'm usually a pretty lenient critic too, but I think for me, as my theater arts teacher said; "The more movies you watch and the more you know about movies, as time goes on the harder it is to like anything new because you've seen it done better", or something along those lines. Just replace movies with anime XD
But yeah, I spend a lot of time on deviantART, so the hype is what killed it for me 8U When you see pictures of Izaya and everyone's all "kyaa he's soo COOL desu!" and it's always that SAME group of fan girls who hop fandoms like they're goin' out of style;;;; (d-don't ask..)
Actually, this may sound stupid and retarded, but another factor kinda annoyed me. Y'know that doctor guy who hangs out with Celty? Yeah. He p*ssed me off 8U;;;;; I mean I'm sure there's more to this guy than what I saw, but basically, in my head, he's like "Ffffft what do you need a HEAD for? You have a slammin' body and I don't care if you're missin' memorizes and a brain, you're teh hawtness and I'll luv you forevers"
I mean, yeah, I knew he loved her since he was young, so I guess it could be more innocent than that, but....shouldn't women have a...good head on their shoulders too? XD;; (or at least, y'know, be able to carry it around)
But yeah, I can appreciate stuff for what it is, but I won't give something more attention than it deserves, y'know? People are acting like it's like some kind of ground-breaking series but it kinda isn't XD Does that make it bad? No. Just not a breakthrough series is all.

Re: Durarara!!
I honestly don't think he's trying too hard... hell it barely seems like he's trying. XD He just "is" if that makes sense. Seeing as how I'm watching Bleach right now (coughs) he seems to have a personality like Gin Ichimaru. His intentions seem well, but he's an asshole. I don't know if Izaya's really an asshole or not, but he just has that aloof personality type... but also cold and calculating. Again I'm not a fanboy or anything... he's just the subject.
Ah yeah, that's true too. I don't think I watch enough anime as someone with my types of likes and interests normally would... that and I'm pretty oblivous about these things. I don't get into discussions or arguements either(though I like to rant about it if it's neat). And that's kinda why I don't want to be a psychologist anymore, if I learn how to analyze people, will I constantly use that knowledge to analyze myself and situations that don't warrant it?
Ohhhhh I'm sure that'd be annoying. It's why I tend to stay away from deviantART and hang around Danbooru more, easier to find pictures I like, less commotion. I do have a DA account though. I don't run into it much, but Izaya x Shizuo annoys me... there's crack pairings and then there's "What the hell are you thinking?" pairings. And sometimes it sucks liking something really popular because you don't want people to lump you into the fans who give it a bad image... like Invader Zim and The Nightmare Before Christmas.
Actually, that's not really it at all (to me at least). The reason why she wants her head is because she thinks all of her being and her memories are with her head. She wants to know what she was doing up until she lost her head and lost her memories. In a way, she's a different person BECAUSE she lost her head, and that's also the reason why he met her. I think what he's trying to say is "You're fine the way you are, I don't want you to change." It could sound selfish, sure, but it's also really sweet if you think about it. He might also be afraid that she'll leave him once she finds her head.
I think it's a cute pairing because she's different. Kinda reminds me of Chibi Vampire now that I think about it (manga version, I thought the anime was really lacking). Hell, even Celty x Shizuo seems cute. Makes a bit less sense, but they're pretty good friends it seems.
I get that... it'd be like staying 20 minutes after a movie ended just because it was really good. Sometimes you need a little push to stay with a series though. It's like "Okay, it seems sucky right now, but keep watching, it gets a lot better later."

Re: Durarara!!
(It's okay, I like bleach too XD I don't read/watch it much, but I most certainly know who Gin is 8D Gosh I have such a love/hate thing with that guy) Mmm.....well, I guess you got me there, so I'll give ya that much at least ;D Though he certainly is a strange fellow. Keep in mind I only saw the first 6 eps, so it really is hard for me to...wrap my head around the guy, I suppose~ (But I guess being weird is a definite plus. He's earned my respect in that...aspect *GAHH RHYMES*)
Haha, yeah =w=' With my own interests and lack of...um..social...ness...I tend to watch a lot of anime XD Not like an extreme, hardcore Otaku would, mind you, but enough to where I kinda feel like I would "know what I'm talking about" if anime were actually an academic subject XD (I'm glad it's not, though, 'cause it'd might suck all the fun out of it somehow, lol)
...Would I be killed if I said I actually LIKE Izaya x Shizuo? XDDDDD I won't force ya to like it or explain the reasons why I find it appealing, but I wouldn't call it a "crack" or "What the hell are you thinking?" pairing..it's just Slash. Or BL. Or Yaoi. Any of those words work 8D And while there are some crack-tastic yaoi-pairings, as far as Yaoi goes, this pairing does have some logic to it. I certainly won't go into detail of course, less you're curious =x
Ahh. Okay, well, I guess if ya put it that way, his feelings for her aren't SO bad. But still. The way he said it in the anime. How could I not get p*ssed off? XD (though lately, I feel as though I've been using the "SEXIST!!" card a lot... OTL I don't wanna be a feminazi darnit!! T__T And this is Anime, for goodness sake..not the best place for feminist thoughts in the first place XD)
Ah, that reminds me. I pretty much had to "push my way" through another Series called Kobato. If you haven't heard of it, basically, it's CLAMP's newest manga, but the first episode...my goodness. Worst piece of crap I've ever seen in my life. But then I read some of the manga, so I just HAD to stick with it. I fell in love with the series by Episode 5, so it took a while. XD Longest I've had to stick with a series to realize if I liked it or not. (To be honest though, the anime itself wasn't very well executed because they started it way too dang early. But it really is a feast for the eyes, and even with filler, it's enjoyable to watch. Plus it's only 24 episodes long. I won't spoil it but the ending got me emotional XD)
Er, anyway, back on topic. How many episodes are out right now? Now I'm kinda in the mood to go back and make myself watch more, since the popularity's gone down a bit and you made me feel better about that guy who hangs out with Celty xD
OH! Sorry another ADD moment; but y'know, DeviantART isn't such a bad place to hangout. I myself have made lots of awesome friends there. (I even post art, derp 8U I dun think my drawings are very good though lol)

Re: Durarara!!
Gin's the type of guy you love, but also hate since he's such a jerk... that and he turned Momo on Hitsugaya, and I really like those two. I'm only on 9 or so, I want to watch more, but I had a test to study for, homework, and other random tasks. I'm going to try to watch the rest as soon as possible so I can worry less about spoilers... especially since I think I keep running into one inadvertently.
I'm the type of person who needs things explained to him multiple times... like certain anime-related terms and such. Even with video games, I didn't know what "turn-based game" meant for the longest time... and I've played on a Ragnarok Online private server for about 1.5 years before finding out what the term "DPS" meant. I also tend to enjoy things without reading into them too much and stuff.
Naaah, to each their own. I just sometimes think people pair characters because they're both hot guys or something like that. I'm sure that has something to do with the pairing, but also something about clashing personalities and such.
Maybe it depends on what subbing group you watched? I don't recall it sounding that bad but thinking "Ohhhh, that might piss her off..." I don't know if it's okay to talk about subbing groups and such so... I'll just leave it at that. <<;
Yeah, sometimes you get shafted with either the manga version or the anime version... I usually like a manga more (I tend to start a series with the manga anyways). One I'm following right now is Kurokami/Black God. I bought the manga on a whim, only had the first 3 volumes, then decided to watch the anime up to that point. One of the main characters, Keita, was a huuuuuge jerk in the manga, and he seems like a totally different person in the anime, so it's kind've enjoyable reading it, and then watching it.
I've got up to episode 13 right now, I think 14 MIGHT be out. I actually came to the anime section on dothackers to see if anyone was discussing it, since I might've missed things and I suck with names in general (yet I've memorized a buttload of Touhou characters...)
I actually never wanted to get a DA account, since it was so hard for me to find any good fanart/art I liked. Not saying they don't have it, just saying I have certain tastes and bad searching abilities. I also noticed a crapload of furry/emo artworks and that really turned me off. I actually only got it so I could show friends and family some of my artwork and possibly get some helpful feedback. I don't exactly socialize on there, so I don't have friends or anything. I just post and favorite things. XD;;

Maybe it depends on what subbing group you watched? I don't recall it sounding that bad but thinking "Ohhhh, that might piss her off..." I don't know if it's okay to talk about subbing groups and such so... I'll just leave it at that. <<;
Yeah, sometimes you get shafted with either the manga version or the anime version...
I actually never wanted to get a DA account, since it was so hard for me to find any good fanart/art I liked. Not saying they don't have it, just saying I have certain tastes and bad searching abilities. I also noticed a crapload of furry/emo artworks and that really turned me off. I actually only got it so I could show friends and family some of my artwork and possibly get some helpful feedback. I don't exactly socialize on there, so I don't have friends or anything. I just post and favorite things. XD;;

Re: Durarara!!
I never noticed there was a lot of hype about Durarara!!, although then again, I never go on deviantART anymore, and I know that when I did go on that site, there were fan clubs for everything, and I mean literally. Last time I went on dA was probably back in '07, when Naruto fandom was at its peak (IMO, I don't think anyone really cares about it much anymore). That was actually one of the things about that place that annoyed me, so yeah; I tend to stick to other sites when I'm looking at fanart.
lol, I like the idea of Izaya x Shizuo...I can totally see them doing bondage things together. (Err, that must sound creepy...)
I've only seen the first three episodes of Baccano!, but since it took place in a different era, I just couldn't seem to connect with the characters as much. I can definitely see how the storytelling method is similar in Durarara!!, though. That was one of the things I liked about both series, how they'd give you tidbits of info that didn't make much sense at the moment, but then it would eventually tie in together and cause you to have one of those, "OH, SO THAT'S WHAT WAS GOING ON...!!" moments. All the while keeping you interested, with some messed up humour tossed in. I did like the violence in Baccano!, it was a plus for me, too. xD Seeing Firo's fingers get sliced off and then reattached was epic.
I thought the doctor guy would be a lot more interesting, but whenever he's on-screen, he's always talking about someone else's life history. And there's something about him that's just, well, annoying for some reason. Although not quite as annoying as Kida. I thought he was okay at first, but the whole trying to pick up every girl thing got old fast. The playboy characters always irritate me.

Re: Durarara!!
Funny you mention that, I just asked a friend of mine right now if she's ever heard of it, and she said she hasn't... and I was almost sure she would've heard something, she knows more about stuff than me. XD Yeah, there are a lot of fanclubs, but I don't really look for them or draw much fanart (I want to change that though). I think Naruto might still be big? Or just the lingering affects of the large fanbase. I kept up with Naruto for quite a bit but I seriously stopped liking it after Zabuza died... he was my favorite and the characters seemed less powerful. But yeah, I'd like to go around Pixiv but I can't read/type Japanese and I don't know if they're more open to other forms of art aside from illustrations.
... yeah, that does sound a bit off... But oh well, everyone has their "thing".
I actually finished episodes 11 and 12 of Durarara!! last night and DAMN. That was awesome on so many levels. It's like you said, pieces of information come together as you progress... but I got thrown waaaay off. Some things that seemed so obvious become really-really weird in the end. I don't quite know what to expect now, even though episode 12 seemed like an "ending" of sorts. I might have to try Baccano out now, they keep mentioning it in DRRR!! and all.
You get to hear a little more about the doctor in episode 4... also, Celty. Or wait, how far are you? And I like Kida but he's not really a favorite, I just don't dislike him. There was a moment in episode 12 where I laughed at what happened, but also felt pretty bad for him. XD It was conflicting and satisfying at the same time.

Re: Durarara!!
I just finished episode 11. I tend to watch anime series in big chunks at a time, so I ended up watching the first nine episodes in one day.
Yeah, episode 4 did have a bit of background information on him, but I think he even said himself that he wasn't making the documentary or whatever on himself but rather Celty instead (wait, that was episode 4 right?). Something about his voice sounds reaaaallly familiar...can't put my finger on it though.
I hear a lot of people nowadays who were Naruto fans say they just lost interest. I myself used to like it, but lost interest when Sasuke left Konoha and became even more unlikable, which was quite a while ago, but if you lost interest when Zabuza died, that was wayyyy back in the beginning, meaning you probably lost interest before I did.
Ohhh, I need to watch episode 12!! I'm so curious what's gonna happen, especially now that you mentioned how awesome it was.

Re: Durarara!!
bah, darn inbox not telling me this thread had any new posts >__< So here's a 5-ish AM post from me. HOORAY!
Well, I don't watch it fan-subbed, actually, I watch it on Crunchyroll. (Lately I've been trying to support legit streaming so long as the waits between the Japanese releases isn't that long of a wait) So I dunno, maybe the pro's Americanized the line more? Either that or I just have a tendency to interpenetrate things negatively. I'mma go with that second thing.
[Off-topic chat] Oh and if I could go off-topic; true they have groups for everything, and plenty of furry/emo-art, but dA's changed a lot. Well, I think. I'm not too sure. I made my account back in 04, but I didn't start to post art 'til 05, and even then I wasn't active in the community seeing as how I had limited internet access back then. I didn't start paying attention or even socializing 'til around...maybe 2007? and Just last year I started making some close friends.
I think it depends on what kind of art you post. If you're new and the only thing you post is OC's that nobody knows or cares about, it's gonna take a little longer before you find people who have similar views and such. Back in the day I posted YGO fanart and I wound up attracting a lot of Yami fangirls, most of which I almost never hear from anymore, even on the rare occasions that I post YGO fanart again. (Nowadayz though I mostly post OC's from a certain group project based off APH)
If you're lookin' for a friend on dA though, I wouldn't mind watching ya; I'm really curious to see your work!
Here's mine if you're at all interested: http://mizutakishima.deviantart.com [/Off-topic chat]
I think I'mma catch up...wait six.....so 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12. Wait I didn't need to count. Crap. HA looks like I'mma watch 6 more episodes like last time!! 8D
Oh, and about Naruto, I avoid the fandom like the plague, and I even stopped giving two sh*ts about the anime, but I still read the manga. Despite what anyone says, I still think there's some appeal to the series, (unique and refreshing take on ninjas, to me) even though some of the best chunks of the series did happen at and before Zabuza-stuff. To be honest, they would have gotten the message across had they ended it there. "Being a ninja is hard. People die, but you protect the ones you love and fight for what you believe in. The End.", y'know? XD
As for the Naruto popularity? Yeah, lots of people lost interest, and really, most people spend their time making fun of whatever manga chapter is released. It's actually kinda sad, but, well. Kishimoto. He's just. Don't even get me started @___@
I still don't like it when people use the term Narutard in a derogatory sense though. It's fine if you're jokin' around and making fun of stupid people, but if you say something like, and I quote from someone anonymous "And I guess the Narutards are going to be looking forward to that DVD box set release and blahblahblah". I mean what? Anyone who likes Naruto and wants to support the industry is suddenly a second class citizen? (Heck, the person I quoted there happens to be a Bleach fan. Someone sounds a little butt-hurt that their precious series isn't being treated like the Holy Grail of Japanese animation because some people still happen to like Naruto. Oh what a heresy to have different tastes- or even dare enjoy both shows! How dare they!
Crap. I got off-topic again. IGNORE ALL THAT! 8D

Re: Durarara!!
Umm, I've got a question. What day of the week do new episodes come out with English subtitles?
Stupid question, I know. Just want to be sure.

Re: Durarara!!
Raina - Well yeah, the documentary was about Celty, but you did get a good amount of background on Shinra. Interesting way to learn how to be a doctor too... oo;
Well... rather, I should say I liked Naruto to the peak during the Zabuza arc. I kept with it up to the exams and when it was Sasuke vs Gaara and then I followed a bit into Jiraiya teaching Naruto, and then I sorta quit. That was when I was reading the manga/scanlations. The anime sorta killed it for me with Naruto's voice and catchphrase.
Oh and the group I follow releases the subs on Saturdays (occassionally Fridays). Not sure if this means episodes air on Friday or what, but I'd assume the weekend's a good time to check.
Mizu - Sadly I don't go on Crunchyroll... partly because I thought I had to pay, partly because I had trouble trying to watch Gundam 00 (my friend had me watch a few episodes) and the audio and picture quality was godawful, and partly because I like having copies of things for myself. I'd actually like to buy dvds if/when they get dubbed, since dvds like that tend to have dual audio with subs.
I have like... absolutely no fanart... :D;; I really want to do more, but I like designing stuff. It's why I have more chibi-like drawings rather than proportional, detailed ones. I also don't have any coloring skills and no knowledge of how to use Adobe (or photo-taking skills), so my gallery lacks a lot of color. My last excuse is that I'm still trying to develop my style, but if you're really curious: http://red-fr0st.deviantart.com/
12's a good point to stop, but episodes 13 and 14 are out. After 12 the series seems to focus more on a story that was only minorly touched on before. I'm really anxious to see how the rest plays out, since I was a little jumbled with how things played out in 11 and 12. That and the fanart of Sonohara Anri I keep finding... it's not really spoiler-y but... I dunno.
Yeah, I didn't like the anime either (if you read above). I still like the manga's style of artwork compared to the animated. I generally like things when they start off and the characters are "weak". It's still good when they get stronger, but I just started losing interest and forgot about it and the anime killed it for me. It actually is pretty sad... though the word "Narutard" amuses the crap out of me... I just sidestep the Naruto stuff, I don't make fun of the people who like it or anything. I managed to stay with Bleach because I like the epic sword fights. XD;

Re: Durarara!!
Oh my gosh, your gallery is adorable! *3* (totally watching you now~) I can tell that you're trying to achieve your own style, but why limit yourself to that? Most people who only care about perfecting their style get stuck in mediocrity forevers. Like. "I DUN CAR IF MY ANATOMEEZ ISN'T PERFECKT, DATS MY STYLE!!!11!!1one!" (Not that I'm saying you're anything like that XD)
From what I've seen even the chibis that have more details are very very good; so if you focused more on fundamentals; anatomy, proportions, perspective, etc; your own style will always shine through no matter what!
*spends lots of times with "artist" folk so XD*
Oh and fanart isn't a requirement, if anything it just lures in false fans XD (or you'd be a fanart whore like my big sister, 'cause all she ever draws is Naruto fanart 8D She's quite popular because of it)
Er but anyway, I'm guessin' Crunchyroll's improved a lot since then. But you're right, it is nice to have anime with ya on the go; but since Crunchyroll and Funimation.com and a few others do support the industry, I can't go back to illegal stuff less it's things those sites don't have XD (Like Hetalia, Basquash, and Kobato; finished the last two though)
As of right now I'm on episode 9 of DRRR, so I'mma go watch it and the rest of them =7= (P.S. Episode 7 is LOVE <3)

Re: Durarara!!
Aww thanks. XD; I really do need to draw more though. The whole style thing is because I take FOREVER to draw, since I don't use a skeleton or whatever it is people sometimes use to get started... which might be why I have trouble getting started. <<; But I always assumed manga artists and the like don't use them, cuz then that'd take forever, wouldn't it? Also, I'm a god-awful perfectionist... which just adds to the time factor.
I actually spend a long time on chibis, when chibis are usually quick little doodles with skewed proportions, yet lately they've become more and more proportionate. Poses still scare the crap out of me, since I'm never sure what one to draw or really how to do it.
I know it's not a requirement, but I wish to give my love of stuff fanarts and the like. And I want the more obscure stuff I like to have more fanart, even if it's my own. I also like the prospect of parody comics. :x Oh yeah, I checked out some of your gallery. I freaking love that bunny. And I like the Tinker Bell lady a lot, too. Ohhhh and the scratchbook butterfly is awesome. I should really try that stuff out one of these days.
Oh yeah, that reminds me... I was going to try watching Nabari no Ou on Funimation.com. But yeah, I'm a download freak... I just find it more enjoyable for watching, since you can just pick up and watch whenever, pause, and so forth. Also, one thing I do worry about is the official subs having no... "personal touch" or however you want to put it. Once I decided to watch Yu Yu Hakusho with the Japanese audio and official subs (it was a dvd) and I recalled a joke being in that scene, and the sub was really cut and dry and I was sooooo disappointed. One of the reasons why I love the English dub.
I don't watch too much anime and the stuff I've yet to watch I downloaded before I knew about Crunchyroll or even thought about using the site. I do, however, purchase manga, and never read Scanlations... except for Sekirei *coughs* since I doubt that'd get an official manga release in the states.
But yes, the anime! Right... I liked episode 7 quite a bit too it was cute with the bakery lady and everything. Plus that's just pure Shizuo-awesome right there. I think he is my favorite character, along with Celty... and then Anri because she's a cutie. Sucky part about being caught up is that I only get to look forward to one new episode a week... but it's really nice knowing what's going on to this point.

Re: Durarara!!
Ahh nostalgia~ I use to not draw with skeleton thingies either. It always confused me; so many lines and circles...I was never sure how long or short to make lines, and sometimes I still have trouble! (I always make the head too big in the skeleton process XD) But trust me; guidelines seriously help lots! My faces still aren't perfect, but when I -don't- use guidelines, well..if you look at some of my older works or scrapbook, you see what happens XD Once you memorize proportions though, it's really easy. Some tutorials and books give you quick and easy to digest tips too!
like where the wrist is when the arms are down, and where the elbow is when it's up or down~~
but thank you sooo much for the compliments ;w; the ones you mentioned are some of my most favorite deviations <3 Not many people notice my scratchboard butterfly either, so that meant a lot :'D
I know how you feel about the fanart though! Some of my favorite obscure stuff deserves fanart, or I wanna do fanart myself, but I'm always so lazy~ I think it's 'cause when I use a sketchbook I smudge everything to where it's barely recognizable, and digitally I just get distracted by things to really finish xD' Even with a tablet it's hard to beat old fashioned pencil and paper~
Hehe, Nabari no Ou reminds me of a Loveless and Naruto crossover. But I bet it's still fun to watch
Official subs are improving though~ and even if I miss a joke, (though that hardly happens these days) I'd take that over bad grammar and type-o's any day of the week XD Or subtitles during insert-songs; special moments where you should be focused on the screen, not the meaning of the lyrics in which you could feel with your heart in the first place! <3 (aka, gg subs on Kobato..for goodness sakes man! >_< )
Shizuo's my fav character too, as is Celty >w< I love playin' catch-up...though I have trouble finishing series XD I get all "I don't want it to end!" but with this series, I wanna see how it ends
but thank you sooo much for the compliments ;w; the ones you mentioned are some of my most favorite deviations <3 Not many people notice my scratchboard butterfly either, so that meant a lot :'D

Re: Durarara!!
Just finished episode 12. Not sure if this is really a spoiler, but...
Ugh---!! The sound of that girl getting her head slammed into the wall was...lovely...
I thought it was like Loveless too. Like the artwork/coloring (in the anime only), and the protagonist's character in some aspects.

Nabari no Ou? I though it was pretty good. Good enough to make me end up buying the second part of the DVD set after watching the first. (The first part left me with nothing but a major cliffhanger after episode 13.)MizuTakishima wrote:Hehe, Nabari no Ou reminds me of a Loveless and Naruto crossover. Re: Durarara!!
Well, I didn't say it was bad either ;D I only saw the first episode though. I kinda found out about it around the same time where even hearing the word Ninja gave me a migraine. It still kinda does XD
I may give it another shot, though sometimes I'm weird in a way where if I'm not as interested in a series, it's usually, "I have no idea why I'm not interested, it looks good/just fine and yet..." D:
Oh, and yes at the spoiler part XD I actually flinched like "ooh >.o" but it was...lovely indeed
