Re: Windows 7
I was opening them through the internet but Acrobat would tell me I needed version 8 or 9 and my computer said I had version 9.3... I ended up installing the things a bunch of times but now it finally works @_@

Re: Windows 7
i've enjoyed 7 since Beta , RC and into retail. i've only BSOD Once.. Once since i had begun using retail since Early October ( >:3free copy of ultimate x86 from "The New Efficiency" event they had in Detroit .) only downside i've been able to run 6 copies simultaneously of the Virtual World "Second Life" under XP under 7 when i run copy #6 it freezes up.so ive seen a tiny bit Loss of performance. but besides XP. 7 was the only other version i pefeered to go legit w/ (waits for the tons of hurt where thats going to lead to..)
my only beefs w/ it are the rare occasional incompatibilities i run into but in time that'll be fixed.

Re: Windows 7
That how I learned so much at first. When I get a new operating system I don't activated it at first. I test it, and do what ever I wanted. Plus when other people are on my computer when I'm not at my mom's house sometimes it gets screwed up. It a good thing I know how to backup everything without reformatting my cpu.Erranty wrote:Best way to learn:Mirus wrote:You guys are so computer-savvy it's cuteee
I wish I knew that much about computers x.X;
1. Buy an official Windows disk of the Operating System of your choice.
2. Do whatever you want, and when something messes up use that disk to wipe everything and put windows back on it.
3. Now you know what not to do. Find something else to mess up then repeat step 2.
There is never an end to that loop by the way. Something will always mess up, at some time or another, no matter what. You'll get a virus, or your hard drive will get old and need to be replaced, or for some random reason you decided to organize the Windows32 files into 2 folders, or any number of things. No matter what, just be prepared to start from scratch and make sure you have backups of what you need.
If nothing else, go to your local computer store and ask for a ZIP drive. It copy's your hard drive's disk image so that whenever something goes wrong and your whole system gets wiped you can just replace it in 20 minutes with the last full system save you did to it.
Sometimes I have to because of idiots on my cpu. I would just lock every account, but my mom would complain. She screws it up at times as well. I think wow someone is using a standard account with firefox, and they still manage to bring a few trojans in.

Re: Windows 7
Well yeah it probably does sound like fanboy stuff. I AM a fan of XP. It always did what I wanted it to until it got that really annoying virus.
But regardless, I had actual problems with it that took away many of the reasons I have a computer in the first place.
And I wasn't using regular windows 7, I was using the Ultimate Edition.
Other than the three problems I mentioned, the one I had the most trouble with was that my EDUP driver no longer had a UI window so I could change the settings. And when I went to the hardware settings over half the features were gone, so my $20 wireless adapter than transmits and receives WiFi and Ad-Hoc was useless. And that meant I couldn't play my PSP online anymore.
The other was just that you lost most of your hardware customizing options in general, and I like changing the settings on my equipment to my needs.
I no longer had Windows Movie Maker, and I used it quite often for my side business, recording concerts for local bands.

You have to download some of the stuff like movie maker from windows live. In 7 things are rearranged differently, but you can still get to stuff.Erranty wrote:Well yeah it probably does sound like fanboy stuff. I AM a fan of XP. In all seriousness though, I DO prefer Vista over XP. I was running windows 95 and 98 for the longest time and did not like XP whenever I used it, such as when my sister's freind built us a computer that, within 2 months, was basically written off as a waste of parts, due to some weird security/ licensing issues that ended in needing to qipe the drive and needing a video card driver upgrade to get on the internet to download the video card driver and downloading it to another computer and tranferring it was not working and... hey, it was my sister who was trying to get it fixed, don't ask me wtf I'm talking about.) However, when I got Vista, within a day it had clkicked and I was used to it, while I still feel uncomfortable with XP after owning it for 2 months and using it a few times a week when I need to print things off from other computers. In all seriousness, Vista doesn't have the random crashes and problems everyone talks about. I did reformat once because of a nasty virus that had deleted my antivirus, but it had only crashed once by that time, which was months down the line.
I hear Windows 7 is more like XP than Vista but all images I've seen are more Vista than XP... so may I ask what Windows 7 is actually like once you're past the customizing? My friends who already have it won't shut up about the customizing. It's all they say, and not about how moothly it runs, or the ram usage, or basically ANYTHING of importance (A desktop wallpaper is enough for me)

Re: Windows 7
Think of it as a sparkly Windows ME... You can change the taskbar and window borders to be any color or clarity you want, but that's ALL you can do.Ranylyn wrote:I hear Windows 7 is more like XP than Vista but all images I've seen are more Vista than XP... so may I ask what Windows 7 is actually like once you're past the customizing? Re: Windows 7
Wouldn't that apply to you for 7?crimsonxking wrote:Completely baseless comparison. And its actually a decent comparison. Most of the functionality in the hardware settings was taken out compared to each of their previous versions. Certain programs only work as drivers for them instead of how they were designed. And neither one was made properly using The Ballmer Peak.
Re: Windows 7
You prefer 7 over XP because you've had less problems with 7, causing you to bash XP.crimsonxking wrote:Come again?Erranty wrote: Wouldn't that apply to you for 7?
The only real difference is what they can do to help you with what you need. And Ultimate took away things that I needed and had with XP.

Re: Windows 7
That goes for everyone though. Like as soon as I saw "Windows ME" I was all "Do not want" since ME was the only windows I had a blatently bad experience with. I mean, how else can we measure something but by our experiences with it?Erranty wrote:You prefer 7 over XP because you've had less problems with 7, causing you to bash XP.

My point exactly, its always the experience of the person using it.Ranylyn wrote:That goes for everyone though. Computer professionals who loved XP for the amount of things it allowed you to get into and change would be enraged by how much of that was taken away in 7. They enjoyed changing settings to optimize their computer for efficiency, while 7 only lets you change how it represents itself.
The one feature I will admit I liked with Ultimate was the little window to view your minimized or unselected windows before you open them and even use features in them while minimized like with the media players you got being able to pause and skip songs without un-minimizing them.

Re: Windows 7
Yep. I do here this a lot. Windows is better. No Mac own windows when it comes to making videos, and it can't get malware. etc

Re: Windows 7
I always laugh when people make some mention to Macs not getting viruses or malware. There are some out there, but they can't actually mess with your system because Macs system folder can't be written to without a 32 digit password that changes after every update. Its just a really good security idea that they got somewhere between Mac OS 8 and Mac OS 9.zaseo wrote:Yep. I do here this a lot. Windows is better. Back when my family's old UMAX Mac was on OS 8 I did get a virus, that's why we upgraded to OS 9 and now the thing sits in the basement for whenever we need so scan a photo and do some editing with a full version of Adobe Photoshop.
Every time I pull out my PSP someone says "Ugh, a psp? How can you stand having no games?", then they pull out their DS and I say, "How can you stand having such tiny screens with such poor resolution and no other features than playing games?" After that comment I plug in my headphones into my PSP and walk off like a badass while listening to Thunderstruck by ACDC.crimsonxking wrote:It's only considered a war by silly people. Those same people who throw fits over how much other video game systems suck.
Truth be told, I actually had a DS, I played Pokemon Diamond and beat it. Then a friend offered to trade me for his PSP and I never looked back once I saw Monster Hunter was available on it.

I have a toshiba laptop and just recently when i log on a small box appears in the bottom right corner which says that the theme has changed to windows 7 basic, but now it won't let me change my theme or window color and my start menu and window colors are all blue. Is there a way i can change this?
