Kara no Kyōkai
I started watching it. All I can say is the characters want to make me pull my hair out. Kokuto is so damn dense, and Shiki is one crazy ****. Gonna go watch the rest of it.

Re: Kara no Kyōkai
Excuse me? I personally think Mikiya and Ryougi are awesome characters. You have the typical Type-Moon protagonist who is as dense as a brick, but have one awesome ability. For Mikiya it would be his determination which makes him an awesome detective when need be. If you thought Ryougi was crazy, look at... Asagami.

Re: Kara no Kyōkai
I do like Ryougi, but Mikiya, there nothing really anything that makes him stand out, besides his detective skills, his optimistic view, and generosity. I do like how he try's to defend everyone. Asagami is just **** up in the head though.

Word of advice then; don't watch the anime adaptations of Tsukihime and Fate/Stay Night. Play the games, trust me.Sadly it is, never heard of Type-Moon until now.

Don't worry, EVERYONE is crazy in Type-Moon. I dare anyone to point out a single sane character in any Nasuverse work. One.
Canaan doesn't count, as it's still in progress so we don't know what's wrong with who yet and what they're hiding.

I love this movies, I recently watched the 6th one and I can't wait for A Study in Murder (Part 2)! I haven't seen a lot of works from Type-Moon myself, but I definitely know to expect lots of crazy.
I wish someone would have told me this before I watched Fate/Stay Night D:AuraTwilight wrote:Word of advice then; don't watch the anime adaptations of Tsukihime and Fate/Stay Night. Play the games, trust me.

Re: Kara no Kyōkai
I've only seen the Garden of Sinners. Though to be honest, Kara no Kyoukai was originally the first real Nasuverse work. Granted that Mikiya is pretty much the basic model for Shiki Nanaya in Tsukihime and so on...
Though, to be honest, I have not played any of the visual novels. Since I'd have to learn complicated things and all that I would prefer to avoid it. My computer skills and a mac don't cut a lot of things. Certainly I'd play them if I could figure out how to use them properly. The anime adaptations aren't that bad and are good for people who don't have long attention spans. I happened to like both anime adaptations, though they cut out stuff that I'd have loved to see. I know some people who don't like reading, and visual novels sure have a lot of it.
Anyways, I like the first three or four I saw with Garden of Sinners. Though I detest what they did to Toko...she was better as she was originally.

Are you kidding? They're TERRIBLE. Most who've experienced both tend to agree that they're about Uwe Boll-level bad in comparison. The anime adaptations aren't that bad

Re: Kara no Kyōkai
Honestly, not everyone can pull a Higurashi. Taking each arc would have been tedious and confusing either way. Fate Stay Night would have too much overlap and the differences would be confusing for viewers. Tsukihime the arcs would take too long to animate to satisfaction. Honestly, they did a good job for the sheer amount of materials they had to work with. It's just a huge load and making an anime out of that is something like a movie producer does. You have to do it in a way that will make what you think is important shine.AuraTwilight wrote:Are you kidding? They're TERRIBLE. I doubt any hardcore fan is happy with what ended up being changed or done instead of the route they desired. There's not much you can do when you have a time limit and episode limit. You have to do what you think the fans will want, knowing the hardcore fans will never truly be happy either way.

Chapter 7 Murder Study (Part 2) is out if you haven't seen it yet. If you don't get emotionally moved while watching this, then your officially an android.

I liked the ending, though I hadn't expected Mikiya to get physically injured. I mean, in the fifth movie he got injured by his head meeting a wall more than once...

Re: Kara no Kyōkai
I've been following the series since the first movie was released, and honestly, I can't finish it. I just downloaded the seventh movie yesterday, but I find it impossible to watch. I watched it for like half an hour and it felt like nothing happened at all.
The movies do have great soundtracks, and are animated really nicely, but I've found the story lacking in most movies. I went this far because the action kept me entertained, but the 7th movie is just too much for me.
It's sad that the only TYPE-MOON series that consistently kept me interested through all its sequels and spinoffs was Tsukihime.

i like kara no kyoukai, but personally i think it is basically the same that tsukihime is.
I watched all the tsukihime anime, and up to the 6th movie, and i find the base is basically the same

Re: Kara no Kyōkai
Each part of the type moon series has one thing in common. The universes cannot in any way actually interact with each other (See T Moon Complex X) and there is a theme within each that is unique to that. For example, the dead apostles were really unique to Tsukihime.
Kara No Kyokai focused on origins and Akasha.
