Ok so i recently downloaded this demo called God Eater. Its a futuristic kind of monster hunter, but a lot faster paced. I personally don't like MH so when i started playing this i actually liked. So for those that have played the demo what do you think?

I take offense to you comparing it to monster hunter. Lock on, item drops, and clothes (instead of armor), make it more like Phantasy Star. Definitely NOT the "new" monster hunter. It's more like a crappy revamp of Phantasy Star.

I didn't start tagging it to monster hunter. i heard other people on message boards saying it was similar and their thoughts on it.
But anyways, i suppose u have played the demo if you know you can lock on and such. What do you think of it, not comparing it to MH or phantasy star. How does it fare on its own?

Honestly, I didn't like it.
I'm a fan of Devil May Cry, so lock-on isn't really a game ruining feature, especially when it doesn't matter where you hit on the target. But all they did was make the camera lock on, and don't even get me started on gun aiming control. I literally have to use "the claw" from monster hunter camera control to "aim" the thing. I mean, if they were gonna give you lock on, why not give it to you in gun mode since you're on a system that doesn't have a right analog stick?
And the whole deal with it really only being 2 weapons, will make the gameplay get old real fast. That sort of kills the whole multiplayer aspect of the game because everyone is using the same weapons, so there's really no strategy involved.
The first boss fight was kind of ridiculous. He appears to take no damage at all, so there's no way to tell if whatever kind of shot you're using actually even hurts him. He kills you almost instantly when you try to melee him. And even after you die, one of your buddies just comes over and revives you, infinitely!
Another complaint is when you DO get your sword to eat something, it gives you bullets and increased movement, nothing for your actual sword! But when you use those bullets, they auto-target your partners... Really? I mean wtf? Why would you want something like that?

I like the crazy mythology references, it seems pretty fun...

I agree about somethings u mentioned, but its only the demo, so i think Namco Bandai still has some time to do a little tweaking. Sure, the weapon system will be the same, but maybe they will change the gun targeting and such. I personally have high hopes for this game.Erranty wrote:Honestly, I didn't like it.
