I remember that site, no wonder there was a poll on gamefaqs about them. A site that never took off.

If by "never took off" you mean "one of the most popular webhosting sites in the late 90s/early 00s." It was the 5th most popular site on the internet around the time I started using it. It was actually vaguely popular in Japan too, and a lot of anime/game creators still use it. Interestingly enough, the Japanese sites still seem to be up...

It's not much of a tragedy, in any case. Their service went to hell long ago, any anything worth saving is probably stored on Internet Archive anyway...
