PSP Go vs. PSP

Post by Zero's_Girl »

Hey everyone. I'm planning on getting a new PSP, but after seeing the commericals for the PSP go, It had me wondering. Even though it looks like the better version, is there really any difference between the two? So, I need your opinion. Which is the better buy? PSP or PSP Go?

The PSP Go is terribly designed. The screen got smaller, the shoulder buttons are farther from the joystick which makes it even more uncomfortable, and the lack of a UMD drive means you have to buy every game online as a download screwing you from getting them as Christmas presents or from being able to return them to the store as trade in for a new one once you get bored with the old game.

And as far as which PSP is the best, its the 2000 (SLIM). The 3000 has an overly colored screen, and the 1000 usually goes through joysticks like candy. So far I haven't had a single problem with my 2000. And yes, I've owned every version... well, I borrowed the PSP Go from a friend...

So the entire system is completely digital? Well that's a major flaw, since their are games that I've enjoyed which were on UMD only.

But, isn't the 3000 considerably lighter than the 2000? Also, are the speakers more efficient with the 3000 than the 2000? Quality of sound and quantity of weight are usually my points of interest when it comes to portable gaming consoles.

Well, I dun have a PSP (yet) so I probably won't help much but imo, I think there is a boundary between the size decreasion(sp?) a game console can get, and imo the PSP Go just crossed that line by a mile. Its just too damn small for my taste, and I really dun like the way it looks, looks like some-sort of gay-ass cell-phone. It would be better if the made the cover that protects the screen or something. End-Rant

I'd rather get a PSP 3000 or a 2000 like Erranty said
and the lack of a UMD drive means you have to buy every game online as a download
I still sort-of understand that ( though you probably explained it the best way you can) can you explain that again?

The 3000 and 2000 feel almost the same weight wise, though it may be a little lighter, it doesn't make enough of a difference for that to really matter. And the sound is louder but its not any clearer, but you have headphones for that anyway.

Basically, when you go to a store like gamestop, you can buy the game used, play it, and if you don't like it, or even beat it, within 7 days you can return it for what you paid for it, then use that money to buy another game. But because on the Go! all your games have to come from the playstation store, you can't do that, AND if you want to let a friend borrow the game you have to hand over your PSP Go!

Not really. I did a little bit of research. Sony plans on placing titles that were previously on UMD in the Playstation Store pretty soon. In fact, they've already started the process. Some examples included Burnout, God of War, and Dissidia Final Fantasy. Although, the last one I mentioned is still up in the air. Either way, I've made my choice. 3000 it is.

Brand New PS3 Slim = $299.99
Brand New PSP Go = $244.99

Brand New PSP 3000 = $169.99

Not much else to say.

Before you go and buy it, ask to see some of the used models. That way you can compare their flaws. Ask to see a 2000 (slim) and a 3000. Then, buy a new version of the one you want.

I got my Go today, and personally I think it's awesome! Yes, there are some downsides to the Go, the screen is smaller than the regular PSP and it sucks looking off a tiny screen to play a game. The good thing about the Go is that because it's smaller I can fit it into my pocket without having the effect of a huge bulge in my pocket. Even though I have the Go now, I think the majority of the games I play will still be on the original PSP.

I recommend the regular PSP. PSP Go has gotten all digital, which I don't really like. You have to buy every single game online (yes, no more UMD's), I'm guessing at the Playstation Network. PSP Go may have an internal memory of 16GB, which is alot to many people, but since you have to buy the games online, the 16GB will go by so fast. That will make it less for music, photos, videos, etc. The type of memory card is also different. PSP Go requires a M2 Memory Stick, which is alot smaller than the Pro Duo Memory Stick.

I have both PSP-1000 and PSP-2000, which I think buying a PSP-2000 is best. Both of them have been hacked anyways, into version 5.00-M33 6. PSP-3000 I haven't tried yet, so I can't really say anything about it.

Well, this is all what I have to say, and I hope this helps out in a way.
