Rayne, I think you should check to make sure Yuri isn't getting sick. His memory seems to be going." He flipped over his cards, once again lady luck was there along with her twin sister and a pair of black 3s, with a jack of hearts kicker. "Two pair, not a great hand, pretty easy to beat, especially those 3s. Its too bad really, I wanted to learn a few of the great Yuri Barsett's tricks before I went to the celebratory game for new squires next week, oh well. Guess I'll just have to settle for being called a cheat, again. And defend my honor in a duel, again."

Yuri: hmmmm { he whispers something under his breath and none can hear and even if they did theyd probably wouldnt be able to understand it { he flips up the card on the table and he yet again gets a hand thats only 1 higher} I'm not sick just not all that smart still think I'm cheating check the deck this cards arent in there soo I guess you owe me an apology * hmmm it takes more then a sleight of hand to cheat you also need to memorize the cards in the deck and then make sure theres no possible way for it to be proven that you have cheated that and I have a little bit of a extra help*

While I was trying to track you down, I read up on you, believe it or not, and you are quite clever. And even if I hadn't read up on you look around us, we're surrounded by books, your books. An idiot wouldn't have this many especially not of [Hymnos]." He put all of the cards back in the deck and reshuffled. He muttered something under his breath, I wonder. "And there's this other little thing I'm curious about. Rayne, how loud does a caster have to sing for a spell to work?" He dealt out the cards and gestured for Yuri to take his turn and show first.

Yuri: okay I'll tell you what if you can figure out how I keep wining then we can stop and by saying cheating count you have to say exactly how I'm doing it *yawn* { he goes to draw a card his hand moves so fast that you cant rely on your eyes to see what he just did} I'll give you hint you use your eyes youll never catch me

Rayne's eyes slipped up from the deck of cards and fell upon Chance's when she heard her name called. After listening to his question, she responded, "Well, typically one must speak the appropiate [Song] lyrics. The words give us the ability to draw magic from the [Towers], and channel them through our bodies, thus, we're able to create [Song Magic]. I hear it's kind of similar to a 'code,' if you will, for what humans have, if that helps you understand any better."

After glancing at the deck once more, then at Yuri, she turned back to Chance and continued. "But if you're assuming that Yuri's using his half Reyvateil side to try to get the upper hand with this, I can't say that I know if it's even possible. For full Reyvateils, we craft our [Songs] based on our personal emotions, and that usually only happens during a dive into our Cosmospheres. There could easily be an illusion/trickery based [Song] that a Reyvateil could cast, but again, I don't know how he would be able to create such [Songs]...I hope that helps you a little."

Yuri: ohhh I get it you think I used my reyveitielian powers welll thats a good guess but what kinda speel would you think that would be it would be practically be useless in battle

Chance smiles. "Deception would be wonderfully useful in combat, and I don't know that much about Reyve magic so I couldn't really tell what it is. However, it could be something that swaps things of equal size or perhaps its a simple illusion. The former would be wonderful for switching an opponent's sword for a stick and the second well, if they don't know exactly where you are it makes it harder for them to hit you and also easier for you to drop them. For instance, they think they're blocking your sword when in fact you're plunging your blade into their heart. And not everything a person does revolves around direct combat. In fact, I detest it. I much prefer indirect fighting, despite it being extremely dishonorable, to most, when you hit them over the head with a rock from atop a building rather than challenging them to a duel. Or slipping a sleeping pill into a guy's drink so that he gets lashed for falling asleep on the job. Or conversely slipping poison into a rival king's drink so that he dies before he can order his troops anywhere. Of course you also have to plan it so that the social fallout doesn't drift in your direction, but you get the point."

He then turns slightly so that he can see Rayne as well as the deck and Yuri. Even if seeing isn't going to catch him, he didn't want to make cheating any easier for Yuri. Even with these enhanced senses all he could feel was the air moving from whatever Yuri just did, he couldn't tell what it was. Which made him even more interested. "Thank you Rayne, knowing that its possible helps tremendously."

Yuri: okay then I really dont think its so great hmmm smart kid okay then this is getting nnoying so how about this the last hand of the game youd better watch carefully and can I shuffle the deck this time

"But we haven't even finished this hand yet." Chance gestured to the cards he already dealt out. "And its your turn to show first. Of course, if you just want to fold this hand, giving me a win and you a loss, then by all means reshuffle."

Yuri: dont get cocky { he flips his cards up king} king * I might of lost this one for all I know but I guess I shoulde used that trick to help when I have t show first ohhh well this sucks*

Beaux flipped his over as well to reveal, a king of the opposite color. "Well, that's interesting. So, this losing thing of yours does that also apply to ties? Or, you know what?" He tossed the top card of the deck to Rayne. "What's your luck look like?"

Yuri: yeah welll you know its not so bad I mean a tie is a tie that pretty good welll this was fun huh { he leans back in his chair { and he looks to see what chance did} * ohhh crap I forgot to remov e that card from the deck! *{ he looks at her with pleading eyes as if indicating to lie what card it was} * no no no if I'm right thats the same king I just drew dammit ohh crap I forgot ****! I'm screwed*

It was evident by the simple glance Yuri was giving her that the card before her would reveal his tricks. She could flip it over and prove both her and Chance to be right, or she could glance at it and bluff and keep him 'safe' with his card tricks.

Reaching down, Rayne picked up the card and looked at it. With a sigh, she shook her head lightly and laughed to herself. "Not very good, as I said it wouldn't be. I always manage to get the five of hearts card." With another shake of her head, she reached out and lifted the rest of the deck, slipping her card into the middle of it. After shuffling it again, suprisingly almost as good as Yuri had before, she sat it back down on the table and looked up at the two before her. "Cards just arn't my game, I guess. I'm having fun watching you two play, though."

You're welcome, Yuri, she thought with a light smile. Though she hadn't played cards often before, she had a killer poker face for when she had.

Chance caught the look Yuri was giving Rayne, it was hard to miss. At Rayne's reply he just couldn't help himself but laugh when she smiled. She has a better poker face than him, and he's the card shark. He regained his composure after a minute, "Sorry, another friend of mine always gets that card too." He said wryly as he put his king back into the deck. It wasn't a complete lie, he did have a friend that usually got that card, but only when Chance was dealer.

Yuri: allright lets go time to go train follow me { he puts his jacket back on and puts necromancer in his pocket} now before we go you both are not allowed to tell anyone about this place where were going but we might run into some monsters on the way there do you think you handle them

Chance's only response was to gear up. Wonder what's so special about this place. Is it his old stomping grounds or what? And why are there monsters? Guess he doesn't go there very often or they would have left because of him by now.

Rayne nodded in responce to Yuri's question and stood patiently near the doorway, waiting on the two before her to finish getting ready to go.

"This place we're going...Is this the same place you were telling us about earlier, Yuri? Your own personal training ground?" she asked curiously, though she was fairly certain that she knew it was. She mainly just wanted to ease the complete silence that had just fallen over them all. Chance appeared to be deep in thought about something as he readied himself, and Yuri hadn't spoken since he had told them that they were leaving to go train a little.

Yuri: { he slowly turns around and he makes a weird face} DAHHHHHHH BLEHHHH WHATSSO SERIOUS HUH? { he walks out the door waiting on them with his jacket on} it might be a bit chilly there so if you guys nee anything like a jacket just check my coat room yes I have a room specifically desgned to hold my massive number of coats { he streches his arms but then grabs a bac pack} allright we have everything we need right here anyway our first task is to train chance and work on team wrk with the 3 of us and also their are some ruins up there I want to check out

Rayne followed Yuri out the door and looked around, taking in more of the area, since she hadn't really done so yet. It was a beautiful location, and it was just perfect for Yuri, from what she had seen of him so far. A few more questions surfaced in her thoughts, but she didn't want to seem as if she were questioning Yuri, so she remained silent and instead pulled the letter she had recieved earlier out, handing it over to Yuri afterwords.

It has come to our attention lately that the I.P.D. infection is spreading more easily, and more frequently, throughout certain Reyvateils that work with our knights. For your own protection, and to also tighten your bonds to one another as a team, we highly suggest that you begin undergoing Dives as soon as possible. You can do so at Dive Shops throughout various towns, where they can further instruct you on the procedures and the things to expect while Diving.
