At least with the old PS3 you could turn it into an overpowered computer by installing your own OS. $600 dollars is nothing really if you were going to try to make a computer with the same specs. The Cell Processor alone would be over $1,500.

But now, sony has taken steps to make sure you can't do that with the new one.

Nah, they just removed the Install Other OS feature, they aren't actively combating hackers or anything yet. Probably will be soon, though...
