SD Gundam G Generation Wars

Post by Kouen »

So it's finally here, the game that we've all been waiting for (Well atleast for me anyways).

This is a revamp of the 2007 SD G Gen release, Spirits. Included in this newer version are:
-Wars Break system in replacement of a large portion of the random reinforcements
-Includes AU units and characters but at the cost of taking out a lot of UC characters and units
-Smoother gameplay, less load time
-No more Haro point system (Yay!)
-Scout Link master character system which dictates what characters you can buy (Boo!)
-Exchange system (Now you're not limited to just evolution and combination)
-Oh and, TORANZAMU!

I'll be hooked on this game for quite a while so, discuss.
(Yeah I suck at starting threads so High Tension Critical Hit me.)

So you're part of the 1% of the gundam fanbase that actually watched and enjoyed the SD series? (not trying to be rude, its just that many fans thought of it as an insult)

The funny thing is that almost no one plays these games just for the sake of the SD feature of it. I think you're misunderstanding that the SD title of it refers to the horrid SD Gundam series when in fact it's not, they just Super Deformed all the mobile suits they put in these games. Not only does it make the animation a lot smoother, but it also takes up less space.

As well, the main feature that everyone's interested in is the ability to pick and choose your own mobile suits with what pilot you want in them. Although it seems like Wars limited that feature a bit by implementing a Mobile Suit Piloting rank which pilots need in order to be placed in mobile suits. A rank of "-" or blank prevents them from being placed in a mobile suit, only the warship.

Speaking of the warship, you can customize too as there are 6 positions you can place characters in for the warship. There is the captain, sub-captain, operator, driver, engineer, and guest. The SD G Generation games are basically your chance to make your own mobile suit unit team with what you want and who you want.

Is this game actually good because all the Gundam games I’ve played have been horrible. They always sound good and sound like they have good features but when you sit down and play them they kind of suck i wish they did have a good one ide defiantly buy it.

Gundam Vs Zeta Gundam, and Federation Vs Zeon were the ones I liked. Also Dynasty Warriors Gundam, but I don't really count that one.

Never got around to Musou, but I'm not a huge fan of the Vs. games. Between the respawn and fall-down play mechanics, the illusion is totally broken. I like things more on the simulator side. I like SRT but SD-ness is usually more of a turnoff for me than anything else. I believe it's universally accepted that Rise from the Ashes is good, though, if you have a Dreamcast. Really, I think a lot of my favorite ones are terrible, but they have an addictive quality, especially for fans. I could play Gihren no Yabou forever. I have the same problem with a couple of Star Wars and Star Trek games, too...

Kuukai... Gundam Casval Custom. That alone is reason enough to play Gihren no Yabou.

I'm looking forward to G Generation Wars. I enjoyed playing G Generation Spirits and G Generation Portable, I can only hope we don't lose any of the good content for Gundam 00. I don't mind it being included as a way to market to the younger fan-base with modern stuff. (Lets be honest, nobody under age 20 would play a straight UC game...) But I would be pissed if we lost Flash of Hathaway, Place Beyond the Blaze, and Blue Destiny to make room. Though I must say, I am looking forward to the 'Exchange System'. I'm wondering what kind of strange mobile suits you can get through it... Here's hoping for MS-19 Dolmel. Lets get some Ex Revue up in this War.

On the subject of: "TORANZAMU!" I would like to see TORANZAMU vs EKUSAAMU!
We all know Yu Kajima wins.

Oh, and Erranty, G Generation Portable on the PSP. Give it a shot! But be warned... G Generation doesn't play around, it can be ridiculous hard sometimes.

Oh! And before I forget:
Any news on what Original Mecha we'll be getting in wars?
Fingers crossed for the GM Juggler.

I'm under 20 and I play straight UC games... in fact it's my favourite Gundam universe...

We lost a lot of UC content in Wars though, a lot of characters were removed and Universal Century got stuck in one Generation. Hathaway's Flash has the Xi Gundam and Penelope, but all we left now is Mafty as a pilot. The G-04 and G-05 are still there along with their pilots, but that's about it. For Blue Destiny, I think the units are in but again all we have left is Yuu Kajima. For original units, it's about the same units from Spirits. However we lost a good chunk of original characters, only left with about 10(?) original characters.

If you prefer pure UC content more, then stick with Spirits. Although you'd be stuck with the horrible Haro points system. All that's left of UC stages is the 5 stages of the OYW. The Gryps Conflict, first Neo Zeon War, and second Neo Zeon War crunched together in 6 stages. And the rest of the UC stuff, F91 and Victory, combined into 4 stages I believe. Oh yeah they completely removed all MS IGLOO characters which ticked me off a bit.

But then again, a lot of characters got cut in the AUs as well namely Athrun's SEED buddies who only appear for minor speaking roles. Not that I really care, it's SEED.

Did I mention there is the Ace points system? You can eventually max all the stats on your characters if you really want. Goodbye annoying OYW/Z/CCA Char and Amuro problem. But in return, the three versions become completely seperate characters. You can have 3 Chars, 3 Amuros, and 3 Brights on your teams if you want. (Can you imagine getting 3 times your daily recommended serving of Brightslaps? Not to mention the nine times better boost for having 3 Chars?)

Oh right, if you thought the final stage of Spirits was bad, the EX Generation stages in this game are far worse. I'm currently trying to grind out a whole team of level 51s and +3 attack power bonus units just to prepare to fight the final boss. Although I guess a whole bunch of 200 attack power units would be far too overkill on the boss anyways. (Especially with CCA Amuro breaking the Awakening stat cap by a whole +48 points from his skills, not to mention if you throw on a +50 Awakening OP on the Hi-Nu *_*)
