Really? I thought it was pretty good as a standalone rpg. My PSN is Narfness.

How much detail? I can try, though I'm going to incorporate details from the manga since that makes the game make more sense, and almost all spoilers are from the game itself... Name spelling may change a bit...

WARNING: HUUUUGE SPOILERS FOR THE GAME. DON'T READ IF YOU WANT ANYTHING TO SURPRISE YOU. THE SURPRISES ARE PROBABLY THE STRONGEST PART OF THE STORYLINE. THE GAME IS DEVOID OF JOY WITHOUT THEM. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED. 10,000 years ago, there was a war between the Mystic Nation of Asvarn, ruled by the powerful sorceress Queen Muleas, and the Ithrenia Empire, ruled by Emperor Madras. This was called the Dogma War. Madras wanted to gain the power of immortality by using the Gate to Another World, the source of all magic, which only the Asvarn know the location of.

The Asvarn were more skillful at magic, but the Ithrenian Army built huge suits of armor called "Sin Knights" for their greatest warriors to use. One of these was the White Knight, contracted to the squad leader Wild. During the war, Wild's wife and child were killed by the Asvarn, but he eventually managed to capture their queen. However, a young Asvarn tactician named Eldus convinced him that by rescuing the queen from her execution he could bring his family back, by use of a "Reverse" spell that only she knows.

He betrays his country and after many battles with other Knights, including Clyde Ledam, the Black Knight, eventually succeeds in returning her to hers. She is able to win the war, but at the loss of many elders, and her kingdom quickly plunges into chaos. She is killed in the ensuing insurrection, but a prophet predicts that she will be reborn 10,000 years later. Eldus uses a forbidden spell to leap forward in time at the expense of his youth. Clyde, who became a priest after the war, follows suit.

For reasons yet unknown, a great temple called the Dogma Hall is built, and 4 infants and one 5-year-old child, all contracted for life to Sin Knights, are frozen in time for roughly 10,000 years, until a great cataclysm opens it up again. The Sin Knights and all related equipment were also apparently sealed by Muleas and stored in various locations. The children are discovered by townspeople of the nearby Shinka Village, and the village elder, Midias, decides to split them up and have them raised separately so that anyone interested in their "unique" origin won't be able to find them. Midias raises the 5-year-old, called "Seti," himself. The other four, Caesar, Leonar, Yulie, and Kara, are all sent to various foster homes after reaching a certain age. The Kingdom of Balandor excavates the ruins and discovers the White Knight and its Ark. The Ark is what the contracted user of a Knight uses to control it. Normally, no one but the contracted can touch it, for anyone else it will distort space so they can't reach it, but in the "sealed" state apparently they could move it.

Seven years after the children are discovered, a war between the Kingdom of Balandor and the Duchy of Floria breaks out. The queen of Balandor is killed by a mysterious cloaked old guy who looks like lot like Clyde. Princess Cisna, having lost her mother, does not speak at all after this incident. It also leaves its mark on Cyrus, the king and queen's adopted son.

At some point, a "Priest Ledam" finds Seti, who has an alternate personality called Glasel. He convinces Glasel that he is the heir to Madras's bloodline, and Glasel founds Wizard, an organization that uses ancient knowledge of magic to further his goals. He also seeks out his "sister" Kara (true blood relation between any of the children is unknown), and manages somehow to retrieve and render usable her Black Knight and Ark.

Ten years later it's the princess's 18th birthday and coming of age ceremony. An old guy named "Eldore," who looks a lot like Eldus, comes into Balandor and uses creepy mind powers to get past the guards. Archduke Daram, the leader of Floria, comes to negotiate peace on this occasion. Wizard, disguised as a circus, asks to come in and celebrate too. The King's adviser, "Salvein," who looks an awful lot like Clyde Ledam, says that it's an amazing idea and convinces the king to let them in. Meanwhile, Leonard, who was adopted by a wine shop owner, fetches wine for the ceremony.

Leonard is bringing the wine to ceremony with his childhood friend Yulie, when it's attacked by Wizard. Both leaders are killed by the dark-armored General Dregias, who isn't actually one guy but instead a lot of different guys who are good at different things, all pretending to be one guy to really freak out Wizard's enemies. One of them, though not the one killing things, is Kara, the Black Knight.

Leonard saves the princess, who he met briefly when he was a child, and after her dad dies she can finally speak. Eldore pops up and is like, "this way!" And, wow, they find themselves in a room with the White Knight. Leonard decides to use it and Cisna decides to chant in a funny language. Miraculously, it works! Though Wizard succeeds in capturing Cisna and inciting near-certain war, Leonard is able to keep them from doing any more harm.

I MADE IT TO THE OPENING!!!
Salvein insists that Cyrus, who had been head of the Royal Guard, stay behind to calm the people. He also recruits everyone else in the room (Eldore, Yulie, Leonard, and YOUR NAME HERE) to rescue the princess.

Whew. I'll finish later. Let me know how that it. All the above copyright me though I might GFDL it and throw in on my Whiteknight Wiki later...

Awesome, glad I could help! ^^

Yeah, but unlike my other wiki endeavors it sucks, I haven't had time to write anything. After I'm done with this I'll copyedit it all over to the wiki...

That's kinda an important part for online I'd assume (Since it's next to worthless in offline. By the time you can get anything cool you're beating the game.), there's no FAQ for it? Maybe I should make one...

Dude that looks so awesome! Some sort of navy! And freefall henshin!!

This game already reminded me of Xenogears with the desert, the robots, the ancient past, and the moving city, but the ocean-looking area completes it! Too bad we already know the last knight isn't some sort of aqua one, because I'd be dying with anticipation for something like that.

Speaking of things in Xenogears, I would love it if they overhauled the world map so you can just fly around in that  dope-ass airship you just got rather than click on the map. Personal preference though. The true airship is a dying breed. I really do hope they mix things up a bit so it's not the same game, though. It's a good game, but there's so much online content I wouldn't miss the engine if they completely changed it. Either that or G.U. it and mix things up a little but keep data compatible. And that probably makes a lot less sense...

I find it funny what a big secret it is that this isn't one game. Part of the reason I made this thread was to inform people of that, since that aspect of the ending seriously surprised me...

EDIT: Trailer is out, looks amazing: http://www.jp.playstation.com/movie/4m/ ... i_next.asx

Ack, I should work on my summary, I'll hopefully update soon. Btw, Georama is out, and you can apparently buy buildings for it...

So I'm googling White Knight Chronicles International Edition and the more I read about it, the more I want it. I'm actually interested in the GeoNet. Damn, now I'm debating whether I should get it or not lol. This game has been delayed 14 months, and all they added are 50 more missions, voice chat and keyboard support.

Actually, everything they added was already patched into the Japanese version. The ads I've seen just say 50 missions *total* though I'm pretty sure it'll be more like 60, which is what the Japanese version has, and they keep adding them.

Anyway, it's pretty fun, I said everything I can think of about singleplayer, and the more I play multiplayer the more I realize that's pretty addictive too...

I'm loving this game. It really does feel like you're playing The World. Or at least a version of it. Of course no pretty root towns, but player towns can be okay.

Lol, glad everyone agrees with my assessment. I'd get the English version but I'm extremely apprehensive about going back and doing everything all over again, since I'm GR8. -_- Also all my friends have the Japanese version. I'd be so much happier if they just let people cross servers. Jeez, our trophies aren't even compatible, and that's just dumb. White Knight is a first-party game. FFXIII is a third-party game. FFXIII's trophies are compatible with other regions' versions of the game. Trophies are hosted on Sony's servers. Sony should be able to figure out how to do this...

I'm loving Caesar, hes like a less kind/innocent Kuhn. "Hey, Jackass the giant!", then when he gets mounted by the Pi like girl it was perfect.

When the main villain first showed himself I said "Yea, finally found the main villain" which was followed by Caesar saying "Well we finally found the main villain, go us!" or something similar.

There are other parallels. In the Japanese version, Cisna is voiced by Maaya Sakamoto, who voices Aura, and the plot revolves around both of them the same way. If you think that's weird, Glasel, the crazed older brother with something to prove, is voiced by the same guy who will voice Jyotaro Amagi in .hack//Link (if it turns out Geist is another personality I'll slap myself). Also Leonard is voiced by Iyoten, Yulie is voiced by Midori, and Shapool is voiced by Haseo. I'm sure there are cast overlaps in the English version too, but I just thought the Aura/Amagi thing was cool...

Maaya Sakamoto voices Lightning in FFXIII, too, but she sounds nothing like Aura/Cisna...

PS: How do they spell the name of the kingdom that built the knights? I've been trying to figure out the two writing systems in White Knight for like forever, and that would help... (There's the modern Asvarn system used in stores and the ancient Ithurenian? system used in ruins, and it's all actually readable. Like Cocoon's alphabet in FFXIII but not as easy. Actually like Ithurenia Pulse has it's own script too, that's probably also legible. It's a good year for con-lang in games.)
