Re: BlazBlue, spiritual successor to Guilty Gear
Anyone know how to get it to display in 1080i for the PS3? I'm stuck at 780p. If I switch the display properties off for 780p, it jumps down to 480p, lol. Nu-13 and Rachel are cheap cold hearted........well you get the idea.

Arakune is only good as far as his bugs go and Taokaka isn't even close to being cheap actually she's not even that good. Tao has a hard time fighting rush down based characters like Ragna because there is little she can do after she gets up, so as long as you keep her down you should be alright. Rachel is the same way but she's really good.nobodyknows wrote:zerokoolpsx wrote:Nu-13 and Rachel are cheap cold hearted........well you get the idea.

V-13 and Noel are just stupid characters in general that arcsys prolly made them good for the sake of the story. Noel has random invincibility frames during her drive attack Chain Revolver so you can actually spam it to win. V-13 is dumb and boring, her drive attack which sends out teleporting swords which have good mixup game and it crosses you up. Her boring turtle play style makes her top tier and makes the fan boys flock to her but she's got the lowest health in the game.

Re: BlazBlue, spiritual successor to Guilty Gear
and yet I've still seen perfectly good Ragnas get their asses whipped by Tao, and Arakune win against seasoned players by using only combo attacks, and next to no bugs at all (91 hit combos. nuff said). It all really boils down to your opponent's fighting style and how well they can use it, as well as how much skill you have in your preffered fighting style (The fast, combo spamming characters -my personal faves-, the slow and incredibly heavy hitters -Hakumen, Tager- , or one of many other character types).Vahn Staffear wrote:Arakune is only good as far as his bugs go and Taokaka isn't even close to being cheap actually she's not even that good. Re: BlazBlue, spiritual successor to Guilty Gear
I finally got it today! :D And I've been playing for the past few hours or so... and my left thumb hurts... T___T Seriously, I can't move worth a crap with the analog stick... I have to use the D-pad, and that's just hell on the thumb. I've been playing with the training dummy most of the time, allowing it to attack me for 20 minutes and then trying to figure out Noel's moves without using the Easy Specials.
I like it. I really do... I don't have many fighting games, so it's a little refreshing. I wanted to try the game out before watching that DVD, and I haven't listened to the soundtrack, but I'm gonna later tonight. Sadly I didn't get an artbook... buuuut I'm very happy otherwise.
I was wondering about the pictures in the gallery (unlocked one). Is there any way to get those off the PS3 or something? Kinda reminiscent of Apkallu on GU...

If you don't usually play fighting games it might take a little while but eventually your thumbs should adjust...
Do you have a blu-ray PC drive or another OS on your PS3? Otherwise it's not even technologically possible to extract them...

Re: BlazBlue, spiritual successor to Guilty Gear
Maybe I've been playing too much today... but yeah, not used to it. I'm used to other rapid, tedious, and etcetera things, but... damn... hell on the left thumb. Took me 8 tries to beat the last fighter in Arcade mode (And on Normal too... T___T). BUT I DID IT... and I can't seem to get Noel's Astral Heat to work... Got the dummy's life down and everything, and apparently the game has the commands in all funky. I got it to work ONCE after trying this, but for some reason I can't:Kuukai wrote:If you don't usually play fighting games it might take a little while but eventually your thumbs should adjust...

Noel's Astral Heat, Valkyrie Veil, can be a little tricky to pull off,
but is actually fairly simple. The Command List in-game totally
misleads you: It says "(Down) Charge (Up) + C repeatedly)". Translation
error or whatever, the button input for this is to charge down while
pressing C three times, then press up and C, and the Astral Heat will
work!
So yeah... anybody who can clear that up, I'd greatly appreciate it;;

Annnnd about the other thing. I'm not QUITE sure what those things are, so I'll say no, I do not own such items. ^^ Gah, this is worse than wanting stuff from GU... where the f*ck is Zer0 when you need him!? Maybe a search on the interweb will yield results one day... *sighs*

That's a good question. Spinning the lever and hammering D gets you every conceivable result besides the Astral Heat...

Re: BlazBlue, spiritual successor to Guilty Gear
Jin's Astral Heat is a 720 motion (2 circles) and you can't do it while standing still because he'll jump or do a unwanted move. So you have to do a non jump cancel move to buffer the 720, like his taunt for example. You do the taunt, do part of the motion while he's in the taunt, do the rest of the motion before the taunt ends and press D as soon as it ends. This method also works with Tager who has a 720 as one of his supers.

It depresses me that you can't do it post double-jump but I guess the input is still being absorbed by something...

Get an arcade stick, it'll make it a whole lot easier on your left thumb.Red Frost wrote: Maybe I've been playing too much today... but yeah, not used to it. I'm used to other rapid, tedious, and etcetera things, but... damn... hell on the left thumb.

I can't even do Noel's astral finisher without taunting, or Jin's. It took me a while to figure out how to use Ragna's Carnage Scissors until I saw the description text below. I kept spamming D, or holding down D, and it would never do his additional attack after the lunge. In the combination list, it list it as 180 degree counter-clockwise forward + D(delayable)
When I saw delayable, I thought, repeatedly press D. Who would stop their DD midway to start a combo, especially after using 50% heat just to use it.

lol you noobie hands, a True gamer can go for days without his fingers getting tired
na I'm messin with you guys.
my thumb gets locked if i keep pressing buttons quickly, but the Dpad makes it easyer to pull off moves.

Re: BlazBlue, spiritual successor to Guilty Gear
While we're talking about n00b hands, does anyone else here wish any controller ever was right-handed? Admittedly I suck at BlazBlue, but I'm pretty sure I would suck less if I wasn't using my left thumb. That guy can't double-tap to save his life. Curse you Miyamotoooo!!!!

Re: BlazBlue, spiritual successor to Guilty Gear
@zerokoolpsx: I don't know if an arcade stick would help anymore than the analog stick would... Yeah, I use the book to reference all the commands instead of the the in-game command list. Some of them are too small to discern and are messed up in some way. I did Noel's Astral Heat TWICE but I was too far away from the opponent... Seriously, that's the one dumb thing... you finally pull off a near impossible move (well... some characters have it easier than crap), burn up the Heat gauge, and need to be within striking distance of the opponent to use. And apparently you need to finish off certain matches with Astral Heat or something like that to unlock things or whatever.
@kyero: Pfft... they didn't get tired, they got raw. Think about walking around a brick building and running your thumb print against it constantly. Friction + texture = flaming thumb of death. Jab your opponent with it to annoy and mildly discomfort! May also cause death.
@Kuukai: Huh... y'know... thinking about that's like trying to imagine oblivion. Just too damn used to the way it is to even imagine. I guess it makes sense if you think that attack/guard/whatever buttons need to be timed and such. Hell, I broke my first PS2 controller on the right side trying to execute Perfect Guards on Castlevania: Curse of Darkness. Oh and I think the reason why it's hard to double tap with the analog is because some games are using pressure sensitivity to make a character run or walk... so you tilt and it's like "NO, RUN FASTER JERK!"
Which reminds me... I was playing the game when I first got it and trying to use the analog stick more so I could let the thumb recover, and I was getting my butt kicked, so I said "That's it, I'm going D-Pad on your ass!" And from now on... that shall be my battle cry.

Re: BlazBlue, spiritual successor to Guilty Gear
Generally I think your dominant thumb would be better for intricate and complex movements, including but not limited to tapping a direction twice really fast, and performing dp, dp, half circle backward, up+forward, down. Your non-dominant thumb is better suited to well-timed but less complicated button-punching every once in a relative while. And I know the d-pad has analog sensitivity, but my problem is absolutely that my left thumb is dumb and unwieldy and doesn't like eighth-second maneuvers. I think it's mainly one muscle too, since I have far greater success with one direction over the other... And I know it's kind of a freaky paradigm, I didn't realize until very recently that this was even an issue...
