Well, the website has been updated and I know most of you have already seen this but it is worth saying that there are now 4 "tips" being shown. They are:
-a "3", "5"(S), "E", "P"(or something like that)
Take a look at this:
The image shows the sequence of the scenario background's state until this far.

Windows 1.0
Windows 2.0
Windows 3.0 and NT (both considered variations of Windows 3)
Windows 9x and ME (all considered variations of Windows 4)
Windows 2000 and XP (both considered variations of Windows 5)
Windows Vista (Windows 6)
Windows 7
That way of counting has too many "considered's" in it. Some of those are totally and completely not the same thing, like 3.0 and NT. Not going to shoot the messenger, though, you're right, but I don't think a product title should reflect an arbitrary, hitherto-mostly-internal development roadmap. By that logic we're waiting for Metal Gear number... ack, I can't even guess what that would be, though Solid 2 and Solid 3 would probably be the same...

He could do it, though. Xenogears started at five...

Microsoft Windows installments belong to families, which are numbered sequentially. This is the 7th family of Windows, hence Windows 7. Technically, though, it may not be part of the 7th family and may just be Windows Version 6.1. Understandably, though, Microsoft is trying to avoid the Vista title. Explanation 1 Explanation 2
Version 5.1
Version 6.0
Ta-da!
Education complete.

I doubt he would put up a site countdown just to say he was working with a Western development team. And especially on his own site. Its not like he's producing it. Maybe it's a completely new project.

OMFG ITS BIG BOSS!!! *takes a deep breath* Ok. Now that we know its a new Metal Gear, most likely focusing on big boss. But when is the game gonna take place. I mean , there isnt really much story left between Portable Ops and Metal Gear.

Damn... I was hoping for a game about The Boss/Joy... not that if there's another game with Big Boss it would be bad... it's just I really would like seeing more about her :/
