Light himself got a bit too heartless and full of himself towards the end (but let's face it, that's one of the reasons why we love him so much. He's a fun character to watch), but his ideas and what Kira stood for were something I could definately get behind. I would have totally been an open Kira supporter from the beginning if this really happened.
Screw being a supporter. I would BE Kira.

I dunno. I mean, I'd probably support him, but certainly not publicly. It's just in really poor taste to advocate mass murder publicly. Privately, like at home, sure.

L is by far the better of the two.
Actually, this is not a matter of being stupid or not. The only problem here is lack of sanity or, at least, ethics.

He did go insane in a sense where he really just lost it after a while but I don't think killing people should be up to one person he tried playing god which in the end didn't pay out in the last episode.

Not true. The actual slip up was on Mikami's part. If Mikami hadn't gone to the bank twice in a row in an attempt to kill Takada when Light had already planned to do it himself, then Mikami's death note wouldn't have been copied and replaced the second time and he would've killed everyone at the Yellow Box Warehouse. Although if it were me, I would've left a couple other people alive as well just for show's sake. And that way, even if a trick had been played, the note would show more than one name missing from the entry, therefore still casting doubt on Near's plan. Although I will also say the lack of information and communication between Light and Mikami (due to pressure from the SPK mind you) caused the entire slip in the plan.

Need I repeat myself? If you read what I posted, you'd know the reason why the plan fell apart. Near and Mello were nowhere close to L's capability. It is true the Light got overconfident, but that particular facet was not the real reason he ended up dead. Read carefully, and you will see where the plan fails, and most of it is due to the fact that Mikami was incapable of filling in the role of Kira for that extended period of time.

It was that darned shinigami that killed Light, not the bullets. I mean c'mon: the man was shot five or six times and still managed to escape the warehouse. Light got a critical success on his Getting Shot check.

You have 6 bullets in you; dont have use of 1 of your arms and legs laying on a staircase in the middle of nowhere really and you expect that to be a victory?

In honesty if you wanted to "call" Light Yagami anything I'd say he'd have a bad case of Ethical egoism

But if you want to be technical  In the manga, he didn't escape. Ryuk killed him with the Death Note in front of everyone while he was lying on the floor, begging for him to kill everyone else.
