If Lelouch did live, then I would personally rather have him taking CC's code. CC's wish was to be loved, but over time it also became to die happy. If Lelouch took her Code, she would be able to live a normal life with Lelouch, until she died. Happy.
CC only wished to die (she didn't say anything about happy) because any love or hatred she experienced was impermanent. She wouldn't want to die if she had a companion that she could share eternitywith. And I do distinctly see Charle's hand de-Coding. It flickers for a split second if you freeze-frame. Taking CC's Code, anyway, would go against the moral lesson CC had right at the end.
But none of that matters anymore, from what I have heard and read, it's been confirmed that Lelouch died. There was a book released in Japan, apparently official, that included a complete death toll list and a timeline of Lelouch's life. Both make mention of Lelouch's death. That's good enough for me, being as I decided I liked the ending better with him really dying awhile ago.
Excuse me? Citation ***** needed, since the directors officially stated they wanted it to be ambiguous. The timeline of death's is probably from a "public knowledge" POV, where Lelouch is "dead" regardless of what happened to him.

Volume 42 of Japanese magazine "Continue". The writer Ichiro Okouchi has stated it. There's also Animedia and Newtype magazine also...
Though Animedia had the amusing "goodbye" messages from the staff to Lelouch.
Oh and also...
Okouchi: “No. It was decided fairly naturally. During the “Code Geass” script meetings, there are many cases in which there were a number of disputes, but there were barely any when it came to the scripts for (the previous series’s) episode 25 and the final episode. I think everyone felt the same when it came to the end of the character that is Lelouch.”
It's been CONSTANTLY confirmed from creators Lelouch is dead. I see a lot of butthurt from fans in denial yo.
I'm fine with accepting it if there's suitable evidence. Page scans for this magazine (though Newtype is erroneous a lot of the time anyway, I'll bite)? The relevant characters for "end"? (the fact that it's in quotations makes me think they're not equating "end" with "death" but with the finality of his character history.)

HERE IT IS. Don't touch the link if you don't wanna get spoiled! http://img110.imageshack.us/img110/7369 ... 736ry3.jpg The last name written down is "Lelouch Vi Britannia" (ルルーシュ・ヴィ・ブリタニア). It's the FINAL list of deceased characters from "Continue".
I'd rather hear some more sound episodes that are total AUs/flashbacks. And get that delicious Code Geass artbook from CLAMP...<3
I already addressed that; it seems to be written in a semi-in-universe style, and even if Lelouch had a Code, he would still technically "die" Highlander-style. Until the directors say outright, in no ambiguous terms, "we killed the f*cker", I'm not biting.

I say that's good confirmation that he's dead. He DIDN'T get a code. C.C. was crying because she KNEW he was gonna die.
Ah, people in denial. Please go back to alternate universe drama CDs. Seriously, I'm giving all-out pity to the creators that have fans that won't accept their ending.
I'm not in denial, I'm just not convinced. I'm not even a Lelouch fanboy, I'm just keeping both doors open. Keep in mind, also, that CC is not omniscient, and doesn't know everything, nor does she necessarily know Lelouch would have a Code until it awakens in him like it did her and Charles and presumably VV. There's also the consideration that she was simply crying for everyone else's loss. She DOES have a sense of empathy, especially with Nunally, who's losing her brother either way.

On top of that, was there ever any place it was stated that they need to die before it is activated? It was my understanding that this was mere speculation. Charles could have just been pretending to die to mess with Lelouch, being as he woke up in the perfect time to mess with him the most. I never thought he had to die for it to activate. I figured it activated as soon as he took it. We also saw CC bloody and stuff, but again, they never said it worked like that. Or did I just miss something?
It was kind've implied in CC's flashback to the origin of her immortality and whatnot, and we know of multiple times when she's been "killed" and had to take time to regenerate. So yea, it seems to work by quasi-Highlander rules, to a point.

i agree. as much as i would love to see a movie of Code Geass! i mean what would the plot be? i mean Lelouch is deadafter all....
why does everyone say Lelouch is dead? its not really Proven 100%, Sure its most likely hes dead, but theres also a chance he's alive. Either way, there will be no Season3, Maybe a movie but it would most likely be a Recap movie.

Things that occur years later, rebuild of Nippon, all that.
But yeah, I'm gonna agree. Lelouch is dead, yo.I'm amazed a lot of fans cannot accept this. Though, it'd be interesting if they made a "What If?" where Lelouch lives.
Well in the ending scene where Kallen is talking about what is happening she said there are still problems. It may not be anyhting major but the black knights were said to be nothing major and look what happened. They could make nightmare of nunally a series but then that will mess up the original series.
I wish they'd continued the series a little lonnger before he died.
But hey even though they say he is dead it to the fans to decide. Its like the quote "The customer is always right" except put fan where customer is.
