About Alkaid (Chika Kuramoto) Love or Hate

I've been reading a lot of forums about AlkaidXAtoli and I'm just wondering. What do you guys have against Alkaid? She beats you up in Volume 1, asks for help in Volume 2, and practically falls in love with you in Volume 3(it actually starts around 2). So just answer my question. Why do some of you guys hate Alkaid? I personally think she's great!

Personally, I don't necessarily dislike Alkaid as much as I do her fanboys. They laud her as the best thing ever, which is greatly annoying. They say her love for Haseo is the most "genuine" when I can only see it as something that happened way too fast and does not endear me to her character (a good character wouldn't go from hate to love just like that).

Also, I'm curious as to why you started the thread with the mention of AlkaidxAtoli.

They say her love for Haseo is the most "genuine" when I can only see it as something that happened way too fast and does not endear me to her character (a good character wouldn't go from hate to love just like that).

Personally, I believed the "love" connection with Haseo and Alkaid wasn't as strong as with Atoli's, since Alkaid didn't really interact with Haseo as much as Atoli, since she was PK'ed in Vol.2 and didn't reappear until the end of Vol.3 after the Cubia incident. However, because of her risky and tomboish attitude, she suited Haseo's style when it came to personality, which probably sparked the whole "Genuine" lingo. To be honest, I never really noticed the connection until the cutscene when she gave Haseo "Lit-Honeysuckle" dual swords, and possibly her death cutscene. As for me having something against Alkaid, she wasn't as complex or dynamic as Atoli was, who had a pretty rough life.

I don't like or hate her, but I hate her fandom. Frankly, her love for Haseo comes right the f*ck out of nowhere, and then suddenly he's mourning over her as intensely as Shino and I'm like, "Wait, I've only known this hoebag for like two weeks, if even that much, and I liked her a lot less."

Her character gets no development beyond fanservice, and people only like her because she's sexy and she's a Tsundere, and a pretty boring one at that. "Rawr rawr I'm Alkaid I'ma beet u haw haw u sux omg now I love u omg now im in a coma owait im back rofl wanna get murried?" Then, we have the fans lauding her as the best .hack character ever made.

its not that, i thinks because it sort-of made him flashback to the whole Shino escapade and him having to witness another one of his "dear friends" and his feelings just erupt

Indeed, I actually wish Alkaid's character development had been done better, cause there was some nice potential there. I liked her well enough up until the random love crap.

Ah this reminds me of the old Terajima Ryoko days... But personally I found her to be a much better character than Alkaid lol... But that might be a little off topic.

I actually liked Alkaid before volume 2, surprise surprise.
She seemed like an ok character, confident, strong-willed and aggressive.
And then volume 2 comes around and "LOL SCREW THAT IMMA BECOME A POTENTIAL LOVE INTEREST OUT OF FREAKING NOWHERE HERP DE DERP."
Also fanbase.

Speaking of fanbase, where did they go? Half a year ago they were all over the place but now I barely see them around anymore, what happened? Perhaps it's just me, because I don't visit the forums as much anymore, but still.

Tsunderes are the cancer that is killing good characters.
