Re: Air tv
Air's one of my favorite anime series! :3 Although I must say, I didn't exactly cry. ^_^;; Sure I found it sad... but at the same time, I had no clue what was happening - I was all confused over Sora and wtf happened. The movie though was interesting... yet I still didn't manage to shed any tears. I want to play the visual novel one day though. -nods-

Re: Air tv
I didn't cry either, though I felt an urge to take some anti-depressants after watching it. Air is decent show, my only gripe are the several WTF's that happened toward the end. The music was great though.AuraTwilight wrote:...t_s_u_k_a_s_a wrote:Air's one of my favorite anime series! :3 Although I must say, I didn't exactly cry. ^_^;; Sure I found it sad... but at the same time, I had no clue what was happening - I was all confused over Sora and wtf happened. The WTF's aren't that bad. Fine, i'll invoke my powers of AT. Ask me questions about Air's plot and WTFness an I shall clear your stupid mind.

Re: Air tv
AT> I didn't cry because hm... I think it's because I watched it on YouTube so the quality sucked butt. That and the fact that I didn't really grow attached to Misuzu or any of the characters for that matter - besides Potato. :3 Oh, and me being utterly confused probably played a major role in that as well.
So I ask you to explain a few things :3
Spoilerized:
1) What/Who exactly is Sora?! O__O; So Sora = Yukito and... why again?? This seriously made absolutely no sense to me.
2) I don't quite understand why at the end it went back to the very beginning. ^_^;
3) That and the very VERY end where the two kids were holding their hands and talking about Misuzu and Yukito. (( I can't even remember what they said! )) What exactly did they mean by whatever they said? <<;
Somebody explained the ending to me before but I never quite understood it... So yeah~ :3

Re: Air tv
Air, just like Kanon, didn't leave me sad.
That's the neat thing about Key's works.
No matter how sad the things that happen are (which definitely affects me when watching them), the characters still end up being...I'm not sure how to put it...
Well, they're more or less satisfied with the outcome. That's what struck me when I finished watching Air, finished watching any of the arcs in Kanon and when I finished playing Planetarian, which is one of the best visual novels I've ever seen. They should make a short OVA about that one in my opinion ;P
That's why Key has never had me crying at one of their endings.
The Clannad movie is a great example as well (I'm pretty sure it actually covers one of Clannad's bad ends, or atleast just a good end compared to the happy true ends)

Re: Air tv
Yukito wished to be able to have a second chance of watching over Misuzu, so the magic in the doll, collected over the centuries, reincarnated him into Sora, the bird who was there since the beginning. It's a time loop.1) What/Who exactly is Sora?! O__O; So Sora = Yukito and... why again?? This seriously made absolutely no sense to me.
He was reincarnated back in time.2) I don't quite understand why at the end it went back to the very beginning. ^_^;
The two kids are the reincarnations of Misuzu and Yukito, sent back in time to live a normal, happy life. They just said some stuff about how fate can be changed and the wheel of time and crap like that.3) That and the very VERY end where the two kids were holding their hands and talking about Misuzu and Yukito. I figured that'd be the answer, altough I must admit that when I first saw it, it surprised me a little "wait, what!?"AuraTwilight wrote:Yukito wished to be able to have a second chance of watching over Misuzu, so the magic in the doll, collected over the centuries, reincarnated him into Sora, the bird who was there since the beginning. Really? Well, that was the only part I didn't get, thanks for clearing that up AT =DAuraTwilight wrote:The two kids are the reincarnations of Misuzu and Yukito, sent back in time to live a normal, happy life. Even though I'm not a fan of this kind of series, I must admit I enjoyed it, it was pretty good; and no, I didn't cry at the ending either. It was sad, but not that sad to actually make me cry.

Re: Air tv
I thought it was excellent. Air was one of the first Key titles I was introduced to and I was very impressed. Story, characters, soundtrack...everything was ace. Gotta give props to KyoAni for the outstanding animation as well. I was totally blown away by the fluidity of it.

Re: Air tv
Woo thanks AT! XD I finally understand it all...
As for Akuta... you didn't cry at ALL?! I cried a little while watching Mai's arc in Kanon... and I cried at the end of Planetarian. O__O Planetarian was just too grah for you not to cry. D: (( And I agree, they should make an OVA ^^ ))

I don't know how you could thing Air topped Clannad. It's by far the great adaption of a Key game ever.
Clannad > Kanon > Air.
Clannad > Kanon > Air.

Re: Air tv
I agree. After Story is where all the character development comes together, and even then, if you took the first arc and gave everyone the coverage they needed, we'd have a 52 episode first season, and KyoAni didn't get that long of a contract.Well, I never played the games sadly, so my opinions are based simply on viewing the anime alone. I just really liked Kanon 06, so it's my favorite out of the three. Clannad started out amazing, the Fuko and Kotomi arcs were some of the best romantic-comedy-drama material I have ever seen. But something just didn't feel right after that. I liked Nagisa, but her arc just bored me at times. It had really funny moments, but I just couldn't get into the drama aspect of that arc. Okazaki's small character development that took place is more memorable to me than the development of Nagisa.
That, and Kyou/Ryou and Tomoyo just kinda got pushed aside. They were developing slowly, but they never really had moments to shine. They liked him, and randomly started crying because Okazaki took Nagisa to the nurse after being hurt. That was about the end of that.
But, in all fairness, it's not over. I still have to see After Story.
Clannad, however, was by far the most enjoyable to watch for me, if not for comedy alone. It also had the best quality art (obviously), and the most superior voice acting, in my opinion. Plus, "Fuko F*cking Rocks Forever."

Re: Air tv
That reminds me... I still need to watch AIR TV. I know AT's been wanting me to watch it (along with Code Geass), but I've just been watching other stuff. Maybe sometime this summer. I still don't think it'll make me cry, though. It takes a lot to make me cry.

Well, if an anime's gonna make you cry, this is probably gonna be the one to do it.
It doesn't even have a happy ending.
