Anime recommendations?

and for more well known animes, i watch naruto and bleach and dbz.

I just finished watching REC, it's an extremely good short anime. Depicts real life situations with humour, with a very serious tone throughout the series.

Matsumaru Fumihiko is an average salaryman with no girlfriend. He invited his colleague Miss Tanaka to a movie but was stood up. Right at the time he was about to toss tickets into a trash can, a cute girl appeared and asked him not to waste those two tickets. After movie and dinner, he escorted her home and found they live in the same neighborhood, yet unfortunately her apartment caught on fire hours later. Having nowhere else to stay, rookie seiyuu Onda Aka moved to Matsumaru`s place, and the two had started a "more than friend but not yet lovers" relationship under the same roof while keeping this secret from their employers.

Yep. REC is suprisingly good.Its probably the only anime I know where the male leads "gets some" at the first episode . I found it too short though.

If you're into robots I highly recommend Code Geass. Takes place in an alterante history on "What if the British Empire ruled the most of the world?". Deals with alot of moral amibuity. Its protagonist Lelouch is a break away from more traditional protagonists. Although he is crappy pilot, he is manipulative, a strategic genius and an a-hole (in other words totally awesome). The story for the most part is good ( if you can ignore the really, REALLY stupid plot twist on episode 22). Its also open ended, second season will be coming out in a few months.

A good anime series i watched a while back was Cowboy Bebop. It had a pretty good story line and wrapped up nicely at the end. And if anyone has seen Cowboy Bebop then they should try Witch Hunter Robin, has kinda the same feel except more of a chiller factor to it.

At my schools anime club, they have A DVD of Last Exile. ive only seen a couple of episodes, but from what ive seen its pretty kick ass.The story revolves around Claus Valca and Lavie Head, a young courier pilot and his navigator, and their adventures in the floating world of Prester. In this romantic sky world based on stylized Victorian fashion and society, two countries, Anatole and Dysis,are engaged in a long and bloody war under the supervision of the mysterious Guild. Claus and Lavie, piloting their vanship (a small wingless aircraft) find themselves involved in a plot surrounding a mysterious little girl named Alvis Hamilton, whom they must deliver as "cargo" to the much-feared neutral battleship "Silvana".
im gonna start dowloading these episodes from Veoh, but really its a pretty cool anime, and the intro song is really cool.

Shion no Ou

Intense shougi matches, extreme character development, murder story, and a cute protagonist. A very intellectual anime based around the Japanese version of chess, shougi.

So far I've only watched 4 episodes and I'm already hooked. Also, Ayako Kawasumi voices Shion so that's always a big plus for me.

Adult Swim is showing this new show to replace blood+'s time slot. "Code Geass: Lelouch rebellion" is fuking awesome. i like it. im sure other people know about it already, but i might as well put it down anyway.

Instead of an anime series, Kara no Kyoukai will be made as several movies. This is an adaptation of a light novel by the same name. Kara no Kyoukai is one of the earliest novels written by Kinoko Nasu (Famous for visual novels such as Fate/stay night and Tsukihime).

Now for my own brief little review. The animation is amazing, the soundtrack is stunning, the fight scenes are bad*ss, and the dialogue is intellectual. The soundtrack is done by Yuki Kajiura, so no wonder it's so stunning. If you liked the style of Fate/stay night, then I highly recommend watching these movies.

Nijuu-Mensou no Musume

Chiko, who had been leading a lonely life because of her parents death. Together with the Phantom Thief Nijū-Mensō (20-Faces), she sets out on a journey into the real world. She gradually changes as she encounters new friends and places. But strange events start happening revolving around the mystery of "Legacy of the 20-Faces". So Chiko has to move forward, regardless on how checkered her life will become.

Amazing character development, awesome protagonist, and philosophy. One of the best anime this season that barely anyone knows about.

Nabari no Ou

Rokujou Miharu was a seemly reluctant junior high student living in his own world. However, within him, lurked the ultimate power of Nabari, "Omnipotent". To possess such supreme weapon, the Wolf Pack of Iga swore to bring Miharu back to Iga village. On the other hand, Miharu’s English teacher, Kumohira sensei, and classmate, Kouichi, were the Banten ninjas whose mission was to protect Miharu. A war waged over the ownership of "Omnipotent" thus started. To survive, Miharu must enter the hidden world Nabari, to become the king.

Ninjas, in the modern world, yeah.

Trinity Blood

The background is in the distant future after the destruction brought about by Armageddon. The war between the vampires and the humans continue to persist. In order to protect the humans from the vampires, Vatican has to rely on other allies to counter the situation. The protagonist, a priest called Peter Abel Nightroad, travels through the countries as a representative for the Vaticans. However, he is also part of "Ax", a special operations group controlled by the Cardinal Catherina. His encounter with a young girl called Esther will determine the struggle and survival between the human race and the vampires.

Post-apocolyptic world where the Church is probably the strongest force, both influence and military. The main character Abel Nightroad is very clumsy, often a comedic factor. But a lot of mystery lies behind his past and his identity as a Crusnik, "a vampire that eats other vampires." (Extra note: Ovan's seiyuu also does the voice of Abel, results, a very creepy Ovan voice.)
