Basically its set in post-apocalyptic future where humans live underground. The surface is ruled by creatures know as beastmen who pilot robots called "Ganmen" (literally means face, since the robots are essentially heads with arms and legs), and basically kill any human that comes to the surface. The protagonist is an underground driller named Simon who comes across the Lagann, which is basically a mini-Ganmen that has the ability to combine with other machines. It also runs on Spiral Energy, which basically powered by emotions. (i.e. if you feel brave and determined it powers up, if you're scared and hopeless it loses power). Simon and his friends soon comes to the surface with the Lagann to fight for humanity.

It has 4 story arcs the first and second details the war with the Beastmen. The third and fourth arc , which is more serious (and also more awesome) takes place 7 years later, where entities know as Anti-Spirals come to destroy the world.

Most of my opinions aredetailed on my previous not. Also, take note that this a Super Robot series, so its meant to be illogical and over the top. The best way to enjoy it is to try not to make sense of it an enjoy it the show for what it is.
too true. try making sense of this show and you'll end up popping a blood vessel |=[...

You got to be kidding. These two series are nothing alike. Gurren-Lagann is a Super-Robot series, full of hot-blood scenes, cheesy speeches, and exaggerated action scenes. Its over the top in an awesome way. Puni Puni Poemy is the definition of an badly done acid trip. It's over the top in that it will kill your brain cells just watching 10 minutes of it.

Just rumors.

Of course no one has bothered to actually bring any physical proof, so take it with a big grain of salt.

Fine I believe you just don't post news next time unless you got something to back it up.

A movie?
Now I'm all giddy on the inside.
But... you never know, it could be dropped...

Did you forget the japanese are so bored they're even making a new DBZ LIVE ACTION movie? I think they'll let TTGL:THE MOVIE be made out of sheer boredom if nothing else.

well, that is probabily good. Maybe they create an alternative ending, like Spoiler*not letting Nia die*Spoiler(although I think that it is pretty difficult to happen).

If it isn't because I see this topic I would have forgotten I still haven't finished this anime, but that just means I have a very bad memory; and now I hear about a movie, wow that's great :D I better finish watching it before the movie comes out.

Yeah, I cried there too, and I rarely cry in anime. But when you think about it was really inevitable, it was the only way Simon could get out of Kamina's shadow. But damn, what a way to go. Between the action, hot blood speeches, action and music the episode was just awesome. And its not even the best episode of the series.
