However the .hack wiki for wikipedia.org still lists even the LV 5 lost weapons as LV 75 equippable ones with way higher stats.

Its just that the LV 135 is the LV in which the lost weapon guardians should be fought even if the weapons can still be used at LV 75.

The only reason why its not possible to equip a LV 5 lost weapon at the start is because its going to take hours to get the 99/100 total virus cores for a LV 4 weapon .

Hey guys! :)

I guess there's been a lot of activity since the last time I checked th forum.

Anyway, I noticed that the Vol.3 walkthrough is already in construction. It may be a while till I actually get the game, but when I do, I'd be more than happy to provide the Avatar battle enemy names, and the names of their attacks.

By the way, did you even update the Vol.2 guide with the attack names that I gave to you a long time ago?? Just curious.

EDIT: it seems the game should be in stores after today! Yes!!
Their number is Legion......
Their name is Death.......

so, when are you going to implement the lists from the vol: 2 guide into vol: 3's completion stuff (like weapons lol). I gathered a list of weapons and sent it to your email in a text document, yet I don't see scythe weapons on your guide's 'weapon list' and remember having those in the list I sent you...

Well, no problem. I've also just picked up my copy and got home with it not too long ago, so I'll start recording new weapons and where I got them to the list as I go along and email you when I have enough of them to validate a "significant update" to the weapon list. I will however, send you what I got for weapons from remenisce in an email. Check your inbox :-D

seeing as how anyone has just gotten the game today, i doubt there's been time to examine the coding and make up codes for cheat systems. try beating it without cheating first. i assure you, cheating is best for the second run-through.

Was anyone planning to do a little snippet on strategies for fighting Doppleganger? I'd like to work on that section if no one else is doing one. Otherwise, I would like to at least submit my own strategy for fighting him once I confirm it works since it worked brilliantly in Reminisce. Didn't need a Beast Awakening or Divine Awakening spam-a-thon at all.

As for other sections...I'd like to try my hand at accessories if Detox doesn't mind. Otherwise I can help out with items or any other sections that could use a bit of extra help.

Thanks!

For accessories...Detox1023 has let me take over that section. I suppose he can post here too for confirmation :P.

As for Doppleganger, here's a rough guide so far...
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Preparing for Doppleganger:

Before hunting down Doppleganger, you will want the following:

Items-

50 Restorative Drops. Several people have at least 10+ of these up for trade at a time so they should be easy to collect.

10-15 Restorative Rains. Optional unless you want some extra insurance. Kitty Ladle has a few for trade (And a few other people as well I reckon).

20-30 Fairy Drops. Dol Dona and Breg Epona's item shops should have these in stock. More is always helpful.

10+ Noble Drops/Noble Rains. Purely optional, but if you see anyone with these for trade and you have enough stuff to pick them up, by all means grab some.

Revival Medicines. Bring however many you want, but you shouldn't need any if you're skilled enough.

10-20 each of The Death and The Devil. Very very useful...and required if you wish to kill off Doppleganger using my own strategy which will be detailed later. You can see if anyone has these for trade, but otherwise, look around the guild shops and purchase any you see.

Weapons-

Your weapons should be the strongest your character can wield at his/her level alchemized up to +5. If you plan to use Kuhn though, his lost weapon at level 5 is a viable choice since it ups his crit rate by 50% and arts damage by a whopping 75%, making him capable of inflicting tons of damage to Dopple (or any enemy for that matter).

As for attachments, there are several choices:

Octoscorp's Tail (1 slot, Inflicts a better version of Poison) and/or Starfish (1 slot, Inflicts a better version of Curse). If you don't have any of The Death or The Devil and don't want to use Sakubo or Gaspard, this is the next best thing. Enhanced version of both statuses indeed, but you have to consider the fact that it's only a chance for that to happen. Best put onto your two party members you wish to bring into this fight as there are better weapon attachments for Haseo. Purchase these items at Empireo's Shop in Breg Epona or look at weapons in Kestrel's Shop in the same root town. They should have the ability "Venomous Attack" or "Voodoo Attack" if they are the enhanced versions of the previous attachments.

Bear Paw (1 slot, auto-critcals when attacking an enemy's backside). Best suited for your other party members. Haseo actually has better weapon attachment options than this one. Look in Kestrel's Guild Shop at Mac Anu for weapons that have this attachment already in it.

Sharktooth Tooth (3 slots, Crit Rate +50%). Easy enough to find (Purchase in Breg Epona's Material Shop). Higher crit rate means more possible damage and a quicker Dopple fight. Can't ask for much more than that.

Ginseng (3 slots, All Damage +25%). If you don't want to rely on crits for racking up damage on Dopple quick, this is a very good alternative. 25% more damage can be quite the difference with a high defense bearing monster like Dopple. One can be obtained from Bike Races. If you need more of these, trade with Kunio or Mile in Mac Anu. The best attachment for Haseo's twin blades...that is, unless you have the next attachment.

Gurah Fist (3 slots, all attacks become critical hits). Without a doubt the best attachment to put onto Haseo's twin blades. Critical hits everytime means his damage output effectively doubles. This also applies to any skills used as well. With a Skill Candle'd accessory, say hello to skills doing 4x their normal damage...before factoring in Rengekis. You can get one by completing the "Farewell Mecha Grunty" quest which is unlocked after saving Mecha Grunty 30 times in random fields.

Armors-

Use any 3 slot armor of your choice. Attachment recommendations are as follows:

Dual Angel, Broad Angel, or Scythe Angel (2 slots, half dmg from Twin Blade (Dual), Broadsword (Broad), or Scythe (Scythe) attacks). Easy way to reduce Dopple's damage to manageable levels. Guild Shops & Fields in Dol Dona should have these available.

Body Butterfly (3 slots, Max HP +50%). Can't argue with a large amount of HP, that's for sure. Best suited for those with items that fully recover HP. Look around Guild Shops like Empireo in Breg Epona for these or perhaps on Vigor Armors. If they cost ~46k GP or so, it'll have this attachment on it.

Accessories-

Same as Armors. Pick a 3 slot accessory. Then try out some of the following attachments:

Boost Candle (2 slots, doubles effect of items). Very nice. Having at least one accessory with this attachment equipped is recommended so you can switch to it before using any healing items. Guards Shop in Dol Dona have these already in accessories with the prefix "Apprasial". Empireo's Dol Dona Guild Shop has Boost Candles for purchasing if you don't need the extra accessories. If you've converted from Reminisce and have the Biker's Charm, that will work as well as it has the Item Boost ability.

Time Conch (2 slots, skill trigger recharges faster). Could work well for your other characters. More skills being used means more damage to Dopple. You should be able to find these in Guild Shops at Dol Dona.

Skill Candle (3 slots, all skills damage and SP costs doubled). One of the best accessory attachments in the game IMO. You might think my description of the item is off as the in-game description states that is boosts skill damage and SP costs by half. That is not the case as it really does double both skill damage and SP costs. Try it out for yourself. Couple this with a +5 weapon w/ a Ginseng in it and all skills will be doing roughly 2.5 times as much damage. That amount increases to a whopping 4x normal skill damage with a +5 weapon having a Gurah Fist slotted in it. Best of all, these are easily obtainable from Breg Epona's Material Shop.

Now then, here's what I'd recommend for Haseo:

Twin Blade: Master Mujin +5 (Gurah Fist attached to it)
Armor: Vigor Tiger +5 (Body Butterfly attached to it). Haseo has ~4800 HP on my file at lv122 with this armor on.
Accessory: Berserk Slant Hood +5 (Skill Candle attached to it) <Any 3 slot accessory will work here though>

Of course, if you have stronger versions of the above weapons and/or armor (Such as Spin Drake +5 instead of Spin Mujin +5), then go ahead and use them (And slot the attachments noted next to the weapon/armor/accessory above).

Getting Gold:

You may wonder how you're to pay for all the items you'll need. If you've converted from Reminisce, that shouldn't be a problem unless you converted with something like 50,000 GP.

If you need extra gold, the quickest way is to head to Breg Epona and find a field that has a Fate Worm in it. It rewards you with 50k GP everytime it's caught. Very nice way to build up GP if you're low.

Finding Doppleganger-

At last, it's time to hunt down Dopple and show him what you're made of. Choose your two allies to take into battle. I used Endrance and Kuhn myself. Alternatively, you could use Zelkova instead of Kuhn to utilize his large stock of healing items.

When you have finished making preparations, head to the nearest Chaos Gate and select a field that isn't a dungeon or a story-based area. Wander around in there for 5-10 minutes without getting to fights (Better yet, stay idle somewhere), then go and find him. Also, you could make a field with the 3rd word "Moonlight" since that will cause Dopple to appear on the map instantly.

You'll know Doppleganger is near when you see a red arrow and a message "Encountered Doppleganger" appears. Check your equipment one last time, then charge into battle.

Battling Doppleganger-

Finally, it's time to battle this opponent! Should be easy right?

Not so fast. First off, he will be 8 levels higher than Haseo, resulting in much lower damage to him and much higher damage to Haseo and anyone else in the party (Especially if anyone is lower leveled than Haseo). He also regenerates a good amount of HP at regular intervals.

That's not all though.

Doppleganger has a new gimmick not seen in previous G.U. games. You'll find out very quickly that you're doing 0 damage to him. The reason for that is because all damage dealt to him is inflicted as SP damage, just like what the Twin Scales do. That means you'll have to deplete his SP completely before you're able to chip away at his HP.

The best way to tackle this is to apply Poison and Curse onto Dopple. This is where your The Death and The Devil items come into play. Use one of each, then being attacking Dopple head-on. If you have Sakubo or Gaspard with you, have either cast Duk Lei and Maj Lei in place of using items to cause these status effects.

I prefer to have Haseo using twin swords to keep Dopple's damage as low as possible as well being able to dish out the most dmg per second next to Dual Guns.

If you use any of Haseo's other weapons for any reason, be careful. Dopple can hit very hard with a Broadsword. With a Scythe, not only is damage still high (Almost as good as Broadswords), but he could hit multiple party members with a single hit.

The real danger is if you use Dual Guns. If you let Dopple attack you while using Dual Guns, the results could be bad, perhaps even going as far as a Game Over if Dopple doesn't ease up on the DG assault.

Regardless of your weapon choice, keep slamming Dopple with normal attacks, reapplying Poison and/or Curse as needed until you start seeing actual damage pop up. This indicates that his SP is now depleted.

Keep up the physical assault with Haseo, but refrain from having him use any skills. Dopple will likely gain back more HP than what the poison + whatever skill Haseo uses inflicts, even with Rengekis. However, if your Haseo is equipped like mine is (See above), then pull out Ghost Falcon whenever Rengekis becomes available. You could easily be able to do more than enough damage to offset the healing that occurs while the skill is going off. Guard only when Dopple decides to attack Haseo.

Do also keep Poison and Curse on Dopple during this time. Poison makes a huge difference in this fight and renders Dopple's high HP regeneration useless. Curse will keep Dopple from gaining enough SP to pull off any skills and minimizes any 0 damage hits that may occur if he regenerates any SP.

Watch your character's HP and SP levels and use items as needed to replenish them (Equip your accessory with a Boost Candle in it or the Biker's Charm before doing so though). This won't be too much of a concern on the first battle since Dopple apparently is still lv100 (Or whatever level you were at when coverting to Redemption perhaps). However, Dopple gets a huge power boost on any future battles, so maintaining ample HP levels is more important at this stage.

Keep up the usual assault, healing, and Poison/Curse applying until Dopple is defeated. Feel happy because you didn't use a single Awakening (This was the main aim of my strategy).

Your reward for beating him the first time is the key item Bygone Servant. Once you obtain the Xth Form, fight him again to obtain the DG-0, a gun with a very nice ability that enhances its attack power the lower Haseo's HP is.

Once you beat the game and save your clear data, go fight and defeat Dopple again. If you have the 3 Key Items from beating Dopple in the previous G.U. games as well as the Bygone Servant from his defeat in Redemption, you will be rewarded with Other Self and Shadow.

Other Self is an armor that reduces physical and magical damage by 75% and converts all HP dmg into SP dmg, making Haseo or anyone else that can equip this armor a walking tank.

Shadow is an accessory that grants an enhanced HP and SP regen at regular levels. It also has the Ginseng' ability in it (All Damage +25%).

The kicker though? Other Self and Shadow require you to be at lv150 to equip. Bummer.

Now get out there and defeat Doppleganger with the knowledge imparted here.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Well, there you go. A rough outline of my Doppleganger strategy. I'm sure I'll be refining it more as I find new items and whatnot during the course of the game.

With that out of the way, I have a question regarding Dopple:

I beat him the first time before I even went to my @Home in Breg Epona. When I defeated Dopple a second time just before I went to a field to find Melo Grunty, I only got an Absorb Dragon. No dopple items :P. When will he drop his items? Story wise, I've just been invited by Matsu to take on the quest to activate Bikman's Flyer campaign (I think the quest name is Hail Bikman).

I believe that you get the dopple items after you have completed the game. I say this because I think it was in a CC Corp Email from when you convert the volume 2 data.

Don't quote me i don't know if I'm 100% percent on thatt.

Beating Crimson VS Card Game - Extremely Easy

Assuming you got all the cards from Vol 2.
your card from left to right should go as follows.
1st- No. 075 Bland Self
2nd- No. 065 Impenetrable Barrier
3rd- No. 076 Order Upheld
General-No. 020 Endrance the Exquisite

beating the champ u get:
 No.086 Haseo the Silver Dual Gunner )Charisma - 12(-)HP - 14(-)AP - 3(

another note:

I have a few lost weapons maxed out as lv 5 weapons however the status screen for the LV's of the lost weapons still say LV 75 with way higher stats.

Btw for draining virus cores is their a easier way to max out the morale meter so that you can use data drain once during EVERY battle ie if a dungeon has 12 total battles I'd like to use data drain during all 12 fights.

actually with atoli or any other healer for that matter in the group, along side good combos for every healing spell she does (hp/status spells alike) your combo goes up as well, so say if u have haseo atoli and pi, equip pi with her weakest weapon and let all 3 or 2 opponents beat her up for a while LOL but ur morale will shoot up making it easy and fast to get ur avatar awakening. sometimes it might be as fast if the opponent isnt doing enuf dmg, dont get mad @ me i didnt make the game.

one question, to the person who maxed out their lost weapon- i understand the boss is lvl 135 but, but are you sayin your weapon still says lvl 75 as requirement to wear?
