Will there be a Xenosaga Episode 4?

I just finished playing Xenosaga Episode 3 and I think it left it open for another game. There are several unresolved issues that they never finished. Like did  U-DO stop trying to talk to Shion, which was causing her black outs and draining her life away. Did they ever find earth? Are the Gnosis really gone? Do they ever find KOS-MOS?

I just feel that there are too many things left open for them to just end the searies like that.

Xenosaga was the prequel to Xenogears, so I guess in a way, yes there is a continuation, but there will not be a Xenosaga 4 unless they decide to redo Xenogears over 3 games.

The Gnosis are back on earth and they have been re-reincarnated into humans.

There's nothing wrong with cutscenes.

But there is still good story potential in the searies. I mean it doesn't have to be called Xenosaga. Maybe some variation of the name, probably starting with Xeno.

For instance in the end not all the Gnosis willingly agreed with what was happening at the end. Many still resisted tell the end. So there could still be a possibility that some of them are still lurking around the universe somewhere.

Another story could include the building of the new UMN network. Sure Shion and company now have to use conventional drive to get around, but if they are leaving UMN Colums as they go then they could jump back to resupply easily. The same thing with other ships as well. If there is a whole feel of ships from Vector and the Federation setting up UMN Colums then the network would be set up much quicker and new places would become available. And even though it might take centuries to get from star system to star system there are ways around it. Like the theory of relativity says that the closer you get to the speed of light the slower time flows for you. That combined with using some kind of stasis system then it's possible for them to live long enough to get to earth.

I can see them maybe going back to where Mitchim was to get clues as to how to get to earth and then finding KOS-MOS floating around and maybe even find some Gnosis or maybe something new entirly to deal with. Maybe even another conspiracy to stop them from finding earth. Who knows. The possabilities are endless as far as I can tell.

I haven't played Xenogears. I've heard of it, but I didn't know it was actually a part of the Xenosaga universe. Anyone know where I can check out info on it?

Yeah I can understand that. They kept changing the battle system on every game. You'd only get a few bonus's if you had a game save from the previouse game. And that was usualy a characters swimsuit. And nothing ever carried over from the previouse game except the story.

They deffinitly should have done a .hack type of game where you can transfer your characters levels and stats as well as items to the next game and use the same battle system the whole time with improvements in each game.

When I started playing Episode 2 I was like WTF they changed everything. They literally changed the characters designs from being more anime like to being more like real people. They even changed some of the voice actors and they made other changes like giving MOMO a bow instead of a wand. And there weren't any A.G.W.S.'s you could call during combat. I don't know about you but I made sure to buy all the A.G.W.S.'s that were available in the first game because I love Mecha.

Not only that but aparently there was an anime of Xenosaga that takes place between 2 and 3. And it has a lot to do with Episode 3 since it covers a lot of the Gnosis Terrorism that they keep talking about and the other things like Shions Father.

If it wasn't for the good story and great characters I might have called it quits. But its because of the story and characters that I hope they make another game or even an Anime to take care of all the unanswered questions.

ehm... xenosaga is not a prequel for xenogears.. they are two totally different stories, worlds and projects

That's correct. They're basically parallel universes, though they borrow themes and common plot elements from each other.

Actually, I think it was the fact that all of the original staff butchered what they were trying to do in the first place, and then bailed. That's probably the reason it doesn't connect at all, too. They left Square for neutering Xenogears and formed Monolithsoft to do it "right", but then they split what was going to be Episode I into 2 parts, called them episode I and II, and then just ran away, leaving others to mop up the mess. Downright shameful business.

There might be a little more to it then that, but as a company specifically formed around the premise that chopping up games is bad, they really lost my respect by doing that...

Indeed. Xenosaga could've had one of the best plots ever. As Game Informer said "This is the kind of story that will be with you forever."

But now it's an incoherent mess to the point where the "Interpret it yourself" goldmine is just "Yea, we don't know what the hell is going on."

i Probably wouldn't play a sequal, because all my favorite characters either  died or got blown into thousands of little pieces. i played as Jin, Kos-Mos, and Chaos And they basically all  died excluding Kos-Mos, who just  basically, got blown to smithereens.... sad ending for me......

i still hope in nintendo support.. monolith soft was bought by nintendo months ago and an RPG for wii by them is in production (this could be baten kaitos btw)
