I havent read it...well kinda I cant read japanese but the image is formt he perfect guide. also azure kite holds his weapon like that dosen he? plus if his lost weapon truly is twin blade they can be special and be hald that way kinda like how azure kites weapon is special.StrikerSixx wrote:im not sure which way i lean on this theory. it could be possible you do have alot of evidence.
now the question is... even though it has this odd picture of ovan with twin-bladesque swords what does the perfect guide say his class is?
also if he is an adept rouge with twin blades hes some sorta special to hold the blades outward like that instead of handle forward.
something about ovan no one has thought of.

I'm still not convinced that this is anything more than a case of AIDA-infection, the simplest argument is that Adept Rogues cannot actually have weapons of two separate classes out at the same time. He would have to put away his bayonet in order to pull out both blades, not pull one out whilst retaining the bayonet.
Regardless of what this is, Ovan's hatchet weapon is clearly outside of the system and for all intents and purposes he remains strictly a Steam Gunner.
In any case, a scan of a profile page for Ovan would quickly solve this dispute, as we could discern Ovan's class ourselves.

even so it has been seen many times that AIDA lets a person do things outside of they system parameters I mean you cant just throw my theroy off like its nothing there isevidence to back it up as well as put it down. you gatta give me points for thinking of it and finding proof right? about that picture.... Thats his left arm. i'm thinking that if Ovan wasn't nearly as infected at all with AIDA as he was, we could see that both of his arms are idenical. it would probably have that 2nd axe too. wait it does already. that axe is freaking huge though! also the AIDA infection was limited to that huge mechanical device on his arm. actually that device was holding the AIDA back. so the AIDA wouldn't affect Ovan's character avatar. i think Ovan's dangerous relationship with AIDA meant that AIDA wouldn't completely take over Ovan as Corbenik was clearly strong enough to create the device on Ovan's arm. ....................... Now why does he have two axes? We don't see his 3rd class... he might just a be a steam gunner like umbra says. or course these pictures point otherwise.
i don't think Ovan surpassed the system in any way (not including AIDA). i do believe he is an adept rogue. if those pictures are from the ultimate guide and are genuine. sure he may have been classified as a steam gunner. when you take that into account you also have to look at Keyaki/zelkova's character data in volume 1-2. suddenly in volume 3 his stats are normal except he has a ton of healing items.

hmm....you DO realise that not ALL adept rouges have a 3rd form right -._-. steam gun = 3 twing blade=1 3+1=4 and 4 is the max number allowed just liek matsu is edge punisher and steam gun.Dragoon2044 wrote:about that picture.... i completely forgot about the point system! you have your point. ^^
i do agree with umbra though. we do need more scans to accurately confirm. i am leaning towards him being an adept rogue though. at least thats what i want to believe anyways. it would be cool if he was one, but i think its cool enough that he is simply a steam gunner. i could go either way here.
edit: Ovan's AIDA arm... its probably just an aida arm but after reading zero's post i got the idea that the aida arm was a form of scythe.

If it's alright with you, I'd like to contribute to this discussion.Zer0 wrote:Here's a quickie: What if the AIDA that can go outside the system parameters made the already adept rogue Ovan (Steam Gunner and Twin Blades), have another ability? The ability to weild scythes, like a Flick Reaper. That picture looks to me like his Avatar is weilding a scythe.
Just throwing that out there.
The scythe idea might be plausible, but with the twin blades & steam gun, a scythe would surpass the 4-point limit.
However, we may not know the full extent of AIDA's ability to surpass the system. So it's quite possible for AIDA's influence to exeed such limits.

Ahehehe calm down guys ^^; they way your talking he would be an adept rouge of all classes and that just cant be. even AIDA has its limits....however if you threw it a third class that would exsplain why his "PC data" was so large. I myself have been wondring why it was I mean its no different then another AIDA PC right?

As far as manipulating basic class data goes,AIDA has no limits.Ratsu wrote:Ahehehe calm down guys ^^; they way your talking he would be an adept rouge of all classes and that just cant be. even AIDA has its limits....however if you threw it a third class that would exsplain why his "PC data" was so large. And Ovan functions as a steam gunner when ARMAXed into the game, and can't equip other weapons,so unless they tricked us to make room for something in the OVA,this seems illogical.

It could also simply be a fluke.i'm just looking at the pictures provided. thats what i see. what else could it be? well aida infection... who is to say for sure?
The artist/designer crafted the image without realizing the implications it would make.
At anytime in the games does he utilize twin blade skills?
As A.Crow said, he won't equip twin blades.

Ovan is a Steam Gunner. Fact. No room for debate.
The second weapon is a product of AIDA infection. Hell, it's even attacked to his hand and gives off an AIDA bubble thing.
This entire theory is **** with no REAL evidence. Just wild speculation based off two pictures that don't really state anything one way or the other.
And not even Adept Rogues can have two weapons from two different classes out at the same time.

the artist who drew that for the perfect guide wouldn't have done so without explicit direction from NamcoBandai. besides, i strongly doubt the G. U. Perfect Guide is Liminality all over again. Of course it would be neat if Ovan was an adept rogue, but the more i think about it and the more i look at the pictures. Ovan is a steamgunner. what we see in the pictures is simply Ovan's infection with AIDA It just makes more sense that way. Being otherwise would just complicate things.

Re: something about ovan no one has thought of.
I thought of that but... im not famous here and not everyone replies to my threadsRatsu wrote:Take a look at this pic if you will from the perfect guide.
This image is from the perfect guide so its an official .hack image, now most people look at the "avatar aura" but I am more interested in his weapons, insted of bayonets it appears to be more like twin blades dosen it? It got me thinking well. ovan is classified as a Steam gunner correct, but isnt this more likely because we have only seen him with a steam gun? Haseo never gets him into his party so when you think about it we have never looked at his character status telling us what his class it. Its very possible that he is an adept rouge! If you think about the 4 point system that they run on STeam gunners take 3 and twin blade takes 1 so it would add up to 4, Also his lost weapon every one things its a gun but as you find out in the perfect guide its not the gun everyone see, the one he always holds is only "twilight" and not his lost weapon, then I started thinking about the other lost weapons them selves, Why would their be 2 weapons if the same class in the lost weapon group? Then it hit me, if he is in fact a adept rouge then he could have twin blades as his lost weapon insted of a gun! all togeather it fits almost too well if you ask me. The other thing I think of as proof is. Think about hsi avatar. a wile back there was a topic where I was asking "If his avatar wasent infected...then what would its weapon be?" you would think it would have some kind of gun right? but it dosent but it DOSE have two axes which would fit into my theroy of him being an adept rouge would it not? Also dont all adept rouge seem to have very...well different characters? I mean no one eles looks like haseo or ovan right? and...that other...one...I forget her name (it starts with an S) so that would further prove my theroy. Also the fact that you never really get proof that haseo had ovans member adress. (you can email in za worldo without one you know)
Either way what do you think? crazy theroy? or compleatly possible?
EDIT: think abotu somethign eles if you will. they coudl very well be his lost weaopon AIDA can serpass the system in a sense but think about Sakaki. it gave him an AIDA arm but it didnt give him an extra wapon did it? so if ovan is an adept rouge then maby it messed with his character data and has both his weapons out at one time. (more proof)

The truth has been spoken.Kuukai wrote:It's just AIDA infection. Ovan's been officially confirmed any number of times to be a Steam Gunner. "Adept Rogue" or even "??" isn't that suspicious in G.U., so there's no reason they'd lie.
It's an AIDA infection, nothing more. You're reading too much into it, Ovan's already been officially classified as a Steam Gunner.

if they would ever release the g.u. perfect guide book outside of Japan that would be great. it would clear up a lot of confusion because of course not everyone is able to read japanese or hack videogames to see thier content. i'd love to see it come to the states. it would fit nicely with my collection.

Eh...classified or not...I think I can go even further with the theory. The reason he might be "classified" as a steam gunner is that for the majority of his time in [The World] he can only use his bayonnett. Has no one thought of the fact that to use the twin blade weapons both hands are needed? His left arm is encased in the AIDA Firewall. No second arm, no twin blades...except when he removes the firewall.

stand up for what's right...even if you're standing alone...
