Not all of it is Hentai...god that gets on my nearvs...

Yaoi is not Hentai... only fags who are freacking noobs at life, who seem to say they are anime fans or Otakus...would think that...so you dumb butts(lucky I cant cuss you out) now know that you cant say that yaoi is only hentai...cause hentai in the anime fandom is only 5%...to 7%...thats all of hentai...rest is either shitty anime, advrage anime, the best anime, then the exptreme anime.

Not necessarily hentai, yaoi and shounen-ai are interchangable and both refer to anime or manga with romantic relationships between two men.

It shouldn't surprise you though, the .hack franchise plays host to gay romance itself. *cough*Endrance*cough*

This confusion is why I prefer to use two different words to describe them: yaoi for pornographic anime, and shounen-ai for innocent romance.

See I'll accept Endrance because he is hawt, awsome, and I adore him.

I don't bash homosexuality untill I'm caught up in a situation similar to Haseo and Endrance. Thankfully that hasn't happened yet so homosexuality is ok in my book. ^_^

Actually Yaoi is basically always gay male hentai. It focuses on homosexual relationships between male characters and is sexually explicit. Shōnen-ai is less sexually explicit than yaoi, sometimes not at all. There is a difference between shounen-ai and yaoi; they're not interchangeable. That's why, as I read this thread, I wonder if people actually are fans of yaoi or if they're just mixing up terms as is the common situation...

Nah, I had a straight (male) friend who was a fan of Riku x Sora from Kingdom Hearts... He never could explain what he liked about it, but given that he has a wife now, I'm pretty confident in his orientation...

Shounen ai isn't my cup of tea--I won't intentionally go looking for shounen ai stories, because they don't excite me any more than het stories do--but there are definitely shounen ai stories that I enjoy, and not just because they're about two guys.

Yaoi, I won't look at. >_> I'm not interested in anything sexually explicit, whether it be heterosexual OR homosexual. Those things are best left to the imagination.

That said...I can't recommend any yaoi stories for you, sorry. D:

First off, for S1lentOP, you are correct that yaoi is a genre of hentai. But, it is NOT targeted at the gay audience (I forgot what the correct term was, I think gei-comi...), it's targeted for women.

Kota, you're all-out wrong. What you just listed was absolutely NOT yaoi (it was BL/shonen-ai, which is for the younger female audience to squee at). Yaoi stands for "Yama nashi, Ochi nashi, Imi nashi" which translates to "no climax, no punchline, no meaning", basically meaning PWP. Yaoi is targeted for the mature (18+) female audience *cough*, and it's just as unrealistic as hentai at times. And if you don't like the porn, but like the stories and drama of guy and guy love, then go for June. It focuses more on the serious stuff.

And one last thing: GRAVITATION'S REMIX DOUJINSHI ARE HARD YAOI.

If you don't care about story and just want pr0n, go for the doujinshi made by the creator herself!

I think you misunderstand what I'm saying. I didn't mean that it was intended for a gay audience, but that the characters that make it Yaoi are gay. Hence why it's "gay male hentai" and not "hentai for gay males."

Oops my bad. Sorry for the misunderstanding. (Sometimes the characters in yaoi are bisexual or straight, depending on the situation. Don't ask how, yaoi is just PWP.)
