I didn't think gaia would count as being an online game, if it does then yea that's the only thing I'm on and no not saying what my names are on it.
I can't stand online games, dealing with idiots posting is enough but having to put up with that while I'm trying to enjoy playing a game would drive me insane.
My game time is too precious to me.

GUILD WARS
awesome game!
each volume has its own story and
getting new volumes fused to the ones you have allow
travel to each other's continents
(and don't worry about leveling, you max out at 20.
leaving you more time to play around on story quests
and accumulate more classes)
any one of the 3 current ones is okay to start with.
prophecies is the 1st one with the 4 basic classes.
getting the others have the basic classes plus 2
new classes unique to that campaign.
I've never seen a better online-game!
heck, there's even movie scenes!
XDXD

I'm a noob when it comes to MMORPG's (.hack doesn't count), I play alot of Sports Games (especially golf) online. I also play Tetris DS via Wifi connection. I really want to get into a MMORPG but don't know which one to pick. Which one is easiest (besides Maple Story)? I also want something that has voice chat and preferably for PS2 or a handheld console. I used to play Phantasy Star for Sega Master System but I'm sure it's a new game by now. Is WOW PC only? Also, what is the point of private servers. Is it to avoid monthly fees? If so I want in!!!! Sorry for all the questions.
I only play Gaia Online but thats because my computer's a slow piece of S#!T and freezes for 5mins. each time i'm on but my dad wont let my brother install high speed into the computer because he thinks his AOL will be gone but everyone else wants high speed. And if we did then i would be able to use Maple Story and play a fun MMORPG for a change.

I sorta play FFXI. I just have huge pauses in between logins. Because of this I'm only a lvl 22Warrior/Monk (though I'm aiming to become a Puppetmaster; if I ever get high enough leveled that is.). My brother, on the other hand, is obsessed and is a 62-65?Dark Knight, with levels in many other jobs.
My Character is an Elvaan named "Cubia", on the Valfore server.
Brother is a Hume named "Okage", also on the Valfore server.
Why do I see so many FFXI 'retired' players?

You just made jesus cry if you were serious.Azalan wrote:I play that glorious on-line game known as runescape. It is the only game that can compete with wow, well except maybe Shadow Mu
Private servers are illigal, none of that herebigjoecool wrote:I'm a noob when it comes to MMORPG's (.hack doesn't count), I play alot of Sports Games (especially golf) online. Anyways, WoW is really easy for casuals, and is only on PC. if you want a console online game, I suggest PSU [Phantasy Star Universe] which is PC-Ps2, and xbox 360.

...*sigh*... D-does "Neopets" count...? ._. Hey, Shut up! My sister made me do it!!! -Again, after I quit playing... She went to college and started playing. And she kept pestering me about it, telling me to start up again... It's alright, but nothing else. And it's not "that" online, but it still counts, I think...
I just like it, don't know why. I play off and on... If you need to know:

That's an Arrested Development reference! ^_^

Oh the reasons...Why do I see so many FFXI 'retired' players?
1.You can only solo effectively till about level 12.
2. To group to level up at higher levels, you HAVE to have your group set up with jobs of defined roles (tank, healer, damage, damage, offtank/damage, mage). Problem is, it takes a long time to get a group together of people (6 in a party). It usually takes 30min-1hr to get a party together.
3. Then there's the trek to the camp site. That can take 15 min or more. Once you're at an area with good monsters to kill, you have to find a place to camp your party...and compete with other parties already there (for monsters and places to camp!).
4. Grinding. All you do once you're at camp is kill the same monsters over and over again using the same tactics each fight... for hours on end to hopefully get half or one level of xp... seriously.... and if you die, then you lose XP (usually 30-45min worth >.< ).
5. Story is minimal (for most of the time you put into it), quests are hard, vague, and pretty much not worth the trouble in the end. There is a lot of good story content, but in order to experience it you have to have lots of friends to go with you (defined roles again, but story missions usually are much more difficult than just leveling up. That means that not only do you have to have people, you have to have GOOD people. Not so easy to find all the time :/
6. Making money is a hard task that can take up a lot of your time playing the game.
All in all, FFXI was great when I first got it. It has great visuals, and an EXCELLENT soundtrack (I really miss it a lot). But the cons just outweigh the pros by 1000 times.
Don't forget that they cater to their Eastern players and give the West the leftovers.Jamull wrote:Oh the reasons...Why do I see so many FFXI 'retired' players?
