Go through a short phase where they don't feel like playing a video game?
I'm in one right now, I know I should pop in some of the games that I need to finish up the side stuff for and have tried. I started to go through where I left off in the bonus dungeon for Valkyrie Profile 2, forgot how to get to the boss on the third floor and was like eh I'll do it another time and went back saved and turned off the game.
Then an hour later took it out and put it back in it's case and popped in Tales Of The Abyss, I went and destroyed some more machines in the bonus dungeon, then did the same thing went and saved after only like 20 minutes or so of playing and haven't turned my PS2 on since then which was Sunday I think.
I have a month since I'm not buying any new games until May, and should really take the time to catch up on some of the backed up games I have but just don't have the desire to though my OCD for completion is gnawing at me I don't want to do any thing but wait for the new games I want to get and play them.
Does any one else ever..

I guess you don't find the story appealing to you anymore perhaps because you picked up on something else that you find much more interesting. It's all a matter of mentality. Usually I start the game all over from the beginning to relearn its story, also making sure I complete the game in a certain time frame or else I'll stop playing again for months. But that's me, so you're gonna have to find your own way to deal with it
I know how you feel. I've done this too. Sometimes, I can come close to finishing a game, and then take a one day break from playing it and I never get back to it.
And when I actually feel like playing/finishing the game, I'll just start from the beginning so I know what to do, or can't remember what happened. I also like to start from the beginning of a game a lot.
And sometimes, video games aren't that appealing to me for an amount of time. My family finds it weird sometimes. I'm usually playing something. I do have other hobbies, and I take breaks from video games to enjoy them. Even though my drawing is mostly video game/anime based, and the only stories I've written are video game pardies.
It's better to do something when you're in the mood, it's more enjoyable.

this usually happens to me in one of two events:
1) i just beat a game and the kill-joy has yet to settle
2) i got bored for an odd reason
It sorta reminds me of when ur so tired u cant sleep

I already beat the story part of the game, just have the optional stuff left to do which I can usually put off for months. But this time I just don't have the drive to, cause I'm thinking about Atelier Iris: Grand Fantasam, and wondering if Dawn Of Mana and G.U. Vol 2 are actually coming out in May.
Also waiting to see the trailer for GTA:IV which is in a few mins, my mind is just elsewhere I guess. Yes perfect analogy it's exactly like being so tired but not able to sleep.
