It's not an Broadsword. It's supposed to be a Bayonet of a kickass size.

But, this makes me wonder, since they both met with Harald, do you think Haseo was infected with AIDA when he met him, since Taihaku's weapon is shown infected later on in the game?

The infection happens during Vol. 2, so it can't be the way you put it.

^Ok, I know MAXWELL is a Steam Gunner weapon, I was refering to the thing he gives you, I was wondering why he had it since it's not his class, but then I remembered that all the NPCs carry around out of class items

Just as you find weapons for other classes, the NPCs should too.
