Does anyone know exactly what Aida is? I think that it is a virus from the other series.

Artifially Intelligent(or intelligence) Data Anomoly
they want to know more about humans so they are in The World to learn more about them.
we really don't know much about them.

And its pretty much likely that Ovan's arm was Cubia since the very beginning, and it has grown up enough to be unable to get Data Drained, then it somehow left Ovan and more likely to be the final boss in Vol. 3

Not official yet, but highly probably.
...BTW, if you're not familiar with what's going on in Vol. 3, those spoilers are very bad

So, we don´t know what AIDA exactly is, only that it infects people and is inside Ovan´s arm.

I think its more direct to point out that it isnt necessarily important as to what AIDA is, but whats its role (other than infecting players/areas/etc.) So far its we see the AIDA, fight AIDA, DD AIDA, end of story.

In most stories the characters end up finding what the AIDA was originally (by definition AIDA could be anything. Since its an Aritifical (fake) Data (genetics, what it has) Intelligent (not stupid) Anomaly (something that sticks out).

Actually, I think it's more accurate to say that by being Artificially Intelligent it's self aware and can think for itself, and it's a Data Anomaly, meaning it's an irregularity that wasn't programmed by a human being.

Yeah, and in a way, at the last episode of Roots, Yata, began to give it a name, while Pai gave out the first to abbreviations. So if Yata was the one to come up with AIDA originally, which it seems like it.

I'll quote it from the sub, and I've double checked it with other subs so it is legit.

-Picture of AIDA <Anna> comes up

Yata: This needs a name.

Kuhn: A name?

Yata: The name will be deprived from it's characteristics. (Says something else, not important)

Pi: Yes.

Yata: A.I

Pi: Artificial Intelligence

Yata: The unidentified phenomenon can be thought of as being born as a result of the net running uncontrollably.

Yata: Therefore, This is an AI data anomaly, We shall call it AIDA

So basically, yeah if AIDA was the one that came up with the name Yata then that'd be the case!

The one meaning for AIDA that really stands out to me is "Anti-Intrusion Device for "AURA" ". I dunno, that one just makes the AIDA sound much more evil to me.
