On the topic of the Phases: Since they weren't created to compile data for Aura, what was their purpose? I know what they represent, and I know they're pieces of Morganna...that's great and all, but why did she create them? On a whim? *Not clear on this.*

im pretty sure that in the terminal disks, he said that the reason for bringing them back is to brign back morganna, which would also make a new aura. He said when the 8 epitaph users used the power or somthign, Morganna would be back which would bring back Aura, but he was affraid of a new anti existance being born so he stole Tarovs.

Or, what was left of Harald, anyhow.AuraTwilight wrote:Yea, Aura collected data by the players interacting with each other and the game. That was supposedly Morganna's job, which explains Tsukasa's case. But the Phases weren't created to do that.
He escapes.but, didnt haseo get rid of it?
It's Taihaku's sword. The one he got from Harald.btw, sry for the stupid question, but whos Maxwell?
About our resident AI programmer - I think we have to concede that the upsidedown chair as seen in .hack//Sign was just something "cool" to his design; however, the G.U. saga has put an elevated importance on the concept of opposites and anti-existences. Perhaps AI Harald's design in .hack//Roots needs to be reconsidered in this light.
What if Harald, by introducing an AI copy of himself into The World (multiple ones, I believe) produced enough distortion to create his own personal anti-existance? What if the red, humanoid chair that grips his virtual creation is his own balancing darkness?
And in .hack//Roots, all Taihaku finds on this particular AI is the "dark" component, which procedes to give him a special steam-gunner weapon, apparently called "Maxwell" (which fits the AIDA naming system nicely).
So, was this sword a type of AIDA, given to help accomplish the opposite of what "light" Harald AI wants? - Covertly infect anyone courteous enough to show concern for the Ultimate AI's saftey, and who might help her, in order to eliminate these do-gooders?

I doubt iot. Anti-Existences are only created in cases of power that "Should Not Exist." Which seems to be the power of Data Drain and comatization in the hands of a human being, like a Bracelet or Avatar. AI Harald, despite his power, is relatively harmless. "He's just some broken old man."Or, what was left of Harald, anyhow.

The red humanoid being is just another form of Harald like the glowing red rock. Bear postulated that there was many different AI Haralds, and it turns out he was right.
I also guarantee that Maxwell is not an AIDA, as Taihaku was not infected until the end of Volume Two, and that was by something coming up from behind him while he had the sword in his hands. Probably Sakaki. Plus the red Harald shown genuine concern for his daughter. He wants the exact same thing as the other Harald's, so he's the same, not an Anti-Existence.
The AIDA have a naming scheme of olde english names, like Anna, Helen, Oswald, etc.kinda off topic, but you said it fits the aida namign thign perfectly, is there a pattern or somthing were the aidas anmes? if so, could u tell me
