Google Buys YouTube for 1.65 Billion
As the title implied, YouTube was put up on auction. The suprisingly simple company was estimated at a high price, but I sinceley doubt anyone thought this high. Google finally won the acution with a bit of 1.65 BILLION dollars. Now, according to many anchors and hosts at G4, this WILL MOST LIKELY result in lawsuits of copyright infringments. But I have two questions for you, the reader.
1.Do you believe it was wise for Google to buy YouTube, especially for 1.65 Billion dollars?
2.Will YouTube still be the same, free source of information we have all comed to love?

You bring up a huge problem with Google: their lack of caring about intellectual property rights. That's something that may bite them in the ass big time in the future. YouTube is remaining independent of Google from reports, but I have no doubt that Google influence will seep in (specificially their AdSense program). It'll be interesting to see what happens though.S1lentOp wrote:Goodbye TV show and anime episodes, hello advertisements.

1.65 billion dollars!? For YouTube? They must have money growing on trees lol. I honestly do not think that any good will come from this. I bet that now there will be ads before the shows starts now, it will change enough to become really unfamiliar, and if it is still succesful it will go to Google's head to do some more changes
.

Well, I heard about this from Attack of the Show on G4. To be honest, all the problems and conflicts you bring up was brought up there too. Now that most of the shows were copyrighted, there WILL be a few cases on infrigments. Advertisement WILL take place according to AOTS, but a account fee? I haven't heard anything too significantly about that. So you can ease up there. However, because Google has bought it, they claim that full episodes will be attainable to watch (Sometimes, you have large gaps and missed scenes depending on the show).
