Resident Evil
ok I know the games and movies came out a while back but i was wondering how you all thought they were compared to each other, I know the movies hardly had anything to do with the games and books(yes there are books based on the games) but some people LOVED the movies while others didnt, if you would pls post your feeling on this
personaly i liked the games and books far better than the movies, all they did in the movies was take the basic concept and make some completely out there, these are my thoughts, feel free to contradict me or agree

As far as game-to-movie conversions go, the Resident Evil series isn't too bad. It certainly topped DOOM, Street Fighter I and II, and Blood Rayne. Of course, the game gives the players something the movie can't. Interactivity. The games have more substance in their story. This is probably because it takes several hours to beat a Resident Evil game, whereas the movies are only 2 hours long as most. For what they are, the RE movies aren't half bad, but no movie can top the game it's based on.
RE4 owns all. Id like to see how RE5 will do however.
In terms of the movies...First one is terrible. The whole thing was just...well i wasnt into it. They shouldve just made a RE movie about RE 1. How they do it? Well cutscenes arent that long and most of what you do before 4 is run around in bad camera angles. They couldve made it a 2-3 hour movie. People would come and only thing theyd complain about was how long the movie was.
But thats usually ppl who dont play alot of video games. Like people said Pirates 2 was long. Which to me it wasnt because it had alot of ground to cover and the 2nd one was really making way for the 3rd one.
But about the 2nd movie. It did alot better IMO, but it still had some abstract material that wasnt in game.

RE
I'm a long time fan of the RE games they are just plain good and Resi 4 was brilliant. I expected more from the movies maybe horror perhaps however I believe they could have been much worse than they were.
P.S. one thing that pissed me off was the fist fight with Nemesis that was just plain stupid and shouldn't have ever been thought of it just sucked

why does everybody hate the doom movie? it was mindless action that had absolutely nothing to do with the game but the FPS sequence was cool! it should get some credit.S1lentOp wrote:As far as game-to-movie conversions go, the Resident Evil series isn't too bad. i completely agree. wow it seems people thought the same way i did, the games were cool the books were awsome, but if you make a movie based of a game, it should be about the game, the only thing the first movie had in common with the game was that the masion was outside of Racoon, there were zombies, it was the result of the T-virus, and there was an underground lab, thats were the similarities ended. In the second movie: the zombies were in Racoon, there was a super monster named NEMISIS, and Jill was in it, thats itKarma wrote:The movies kind of suck, since they have almost nothing to do with the games at all.
Re: Books
which ones have you read, ive only read the ones based on the games, ive read 0,1,2,3,4,5, code veronicahirsty_89 wrote:Wow i didnt think anyone else had read the books!!! yeah they're well better than the films even the ones about the films lol
I could write a book about why the DOOM movie was awful and a complete disappointment to any legitament DOOM fan who was once looking forward to it. It all boils down to four things. Fighting scene, story, monsters, and The Rock.KattaK wrote:why does everybody hate the doom movie? it was mindless action that had absolutely nothing to do with the game but the FPS sequence was cool! it should get some credit.S1lentOp wrote:As far as game-to-movie conversions go, the Resident Evil series isn't too bad.
