MMORPGs

Post by Wan »

This is a poll for whats the current mmorpg everyone is playing or wants to play. And a discussion of what each mmorpg does. Basically if you want to talk anything mmorpg related. Its here :D

Me im a ffxi veteran. FFXI is basically like any other Final Fantasy game except its online.

Its good because you join thousands of players world wide and also because most of those people you meet become life long friends. The search system is better I found in FFXI versus wow. The multiple jobs to play from and "switchable" make this game Id rather play.

The bad? Well out of 18 jobs to choose from...there is only 1 that totally majors in healing. And thats the White Mage. If theres none out you gotta find a pl (power leveler) and still you usually have to pay them or have someone get them from your linkshell (its like a guild per say). The economy isnt that great unless you figure out the best way to make money. Theres not alot of common sense here either. So having a fire crystal and the spell "fire" dont do the same thing. Its really weird.

I play Final Fantasy XI. It is probably something I would like to try and explore. I'm not sure what class I might be though.

Is it that surprising that The World R:2 is in the lead?

I recently canceled by subscription to World of Warcraft and switched to another MMO called EVE Online (http://www.eve-online.com). WoW, as I stated in another thread, was repetetive and overly simplistic. I chose to go to EVE because of its complexity and the vast amount of freedoms it offers to the player, not to mention the influence the players have on the EVE Online galaxy. I was astonished by how the game was organized and I've been in love with it ever since. :D

i have to agree WoW is over simplictic. but FFXI...if you can survive that game you can survive any. WoW was...too old school should I say.

I dont like (and will always) most mmorpgs that have race specific jobs. To me thats stupid. Why make something that cant be used by all? You cant even change your job. Its not like in XI, to where you make youre dude but you dont like the job. So you go to your mog house and switch it.

Come to think of it. Who thought of the idea to have 1 character per job lol

R:2? I'd much rather have the original version of The World, provided it were as good as it looks in the show.

comparing the 2 versions id probably prefer the original version also. that is of course if it works as well as in the shows

heh. I meant The World in general but since the poll option was R:2 that's what I wrote. In any case, i would be fine with any version of the World. =\ But that's just me.

It would be interesting what kind of game The World would play as if it was made right. I think it would stand as a strong virtual reality sim.

Agreed, but we're still far aways off from having FMDs being as common as a controller.

you really wouldnt need the googles. The game would act like a FPS that is interactable. Its like in an mmorpg when you go first person. Thats all the world really focuses on.
