Thanks!!!! Lemme take a look.

EDIT: Is the text on the pages still in Japanese? If any is in English, could we get some examples?

http://i.minus.com/ibxWFt8YA8wwCF.jpg - Page 06 (this was the only one with english text so to speak so I'll use it as an example)

I'm able to scroll through each item with the d-pad. But say I hit the Circle button to have a look at a description?

http://i.minus.com/ibeo94nT8NhtTy.jpg - Sure enough the description'll come up! I can even view the skits on the mentioned bugged pages with the usual Circle+Circle commands!

The problem lies in navigating via "description mode" with the shoulder buttons. I L/R'd through all of that page and on the last item it froze (as ya can see in the image, its on the last one which should be Haseo & Bo, yet still shows the previous Haseo & Saku pairing). The freezing isn't complete, I mean non-gameplay buttons (PS, brightness, music, sound) still work but any gameplay button'll do nothing! Plus if ya try to quit outta the game it'll get stuck until ya force a shutdown, though to get outta this ya gotta do that anyhow! I think on Page 05 I was only able to move through one item before it got hung up so I don't think its necessarily a move to the next page thingy. Navigating 01-04 & 18-20 descriptions works just fine for the record!

btw unrelated but I just noticed Link only allows ya to have 3 save files at any given time. Thats pretty annoying >.>

So it freezes whenever a problem skit name is highlighted, regardless of whether you're in "page mode" or "description mode"?

Yeah, Dear Rising 2 too, it's very annoying.

"Page mode" seems ta be just fine. I can now say that Pages 07-14 are safe. 16 is as well unless you move forward to 17 in "description mode". After some more testing I've gathered that Pages 05, 06, 15, and 17 are the only ones with issues. Within those pages it seems only a select few skit description movements are bugged which I'll list.

- Page 05
Tabby/Hideyo
Tabby/Wool
Silabus/Atoli
Silabus/Alkaid
Silabus/Gaspard
Silabus/Midori
Silabus/Nanase
Pi/Kaede
Pi/Saburou

- Page 06
Haseo/Saku

- Page 15
Albireo/Kamui/Lios
Kite/Natsume/Piros

- Page 17
Haseo/Shino/Tabby
Haseo/Silabus/Kuhn
Haseo/Alkaid/Sirius

I'm not sure if all of these cause freezing the same way but there are 3 ways for freezes to occur. Overall page 05 seems the most borked!

Starting on 'em in page mode then hitting circle ta view their description then either pressing L or R
Starting on the one to the left of a bugged item an hitting R
Starting on the one to the right of a bugged item an hitting L

Just getting this far took its toll on me (I was at it for over an hour!) an I'm not to sure forcibly crashing your psp over an over is good for the system either! Soooo testing all possible methods is abit much for me but the list oughta give a strong idea of where most likely the problems are!

* Pi/Gord (p05) - going R from this one is fine but going L (to the mentioned Pi/Saburou one) will end in a freeze
** Pi/Sirius (p06) - this froze me once but I haven't replicated it, so maybe I'm wrong

On the subject of possible alternative fonts~

http://i.minus.com/iyEYhZnCIHqWd.jpg - the corporate stuff on the title screen
http://i.minus.com/iIJjOPk6viTcQ.jpg - now loading text
http://i.minus.com/iL4QsRGbfrTeu.jpg - hp/sp/etc bonus text

Are any of these different / full english fonts useable in the game?

I'll look but what we probably need is an example where the font actually changes, where the font actually varies within some text that's written. Based on the markup system of the game text it's not likely that anything else will be useful.

Edit: I noticed some files have headers at the beginning like CHAT and DCDT. We can test that at some point. I think messing too drastically with everything might seriously destabilize the game though, I can't find any answer to the fskit menu problem and we haven't even touched it. My only solution right now is to say I'm going to change the menu a little bit and see if that alters stability in the next release.

After a few days off I got in another update! Unrelated but Tiny Cubes are jerks an I can't wait to find out the name for those super annoying new monsters which hang out in boxes (ゴブシヤーマソ I believe) so I can curse their names to >.<

Yikes! Bugging out the whole game'd be even worse! For now could a notice/warning about this be added to the OP or that farewell bread place?

You might have gotten Kenma's patch? Ours is different, and it should be labeled v0.1.1. For more information see the blog Hello Toaster.

Now that I've played far enough ta get up to page 5 of the fskits I went an tried scrolling through description mode an sure enough once I hit the fifth page my system crashed! I hadn't been viewing or even trying ta fill in the skit blanks either. Definetely something bugged out about those four specific pages I mentioned earlier. Since I'm on a fresh new save file an not in the post-game I guess its safe ta say this isn't some legacy bug or w/e.

Yeah my bad it should be working again.

Edit: Ok I have caught up on the thread, I have 2 plans in my mind to try to make the game work and act smoother, I suspect that the crashing we are getting is because of how we patch the file, we expand everything and then we are essential leaving it uncompressed, Kenma's patch just modifies the files as is, without disturbing the compression being used, causing a longer load.

No idea of how to change the font yet, but i suspect i can find something.

It would be nice if we found a way to solve the crashing. The font I can give or take, it's not like it's not legible and I secretly suspect that if compression caused problems we're just finding a year later, the font might too...

As far as I've found so far the only crashing is limited to a very small thing an one people could still navigate through just fine a seperate way. Haven't seen any other posts about crashes, but maybe you all working on this thing did? Anything I oughta be looking out for as I continue playing an doing my own semi-thorough checking? Being uncompressed has the nice advantage of super short load times, which explains why I felt no difference with the optional install! Just to test I went back to my umd and then the rip of it and it was dramatically bad in terms of loading without the install x.x So if we're going back to compressed I'll have ta free up space again lol.

I've got a problem, i followed the instructions up to Download and exctrat trough umd gen.

I install the program and version you suggested but i ge no options for

5) In there should be a file called data.cpk this is what you need, right click it and select Extract Selected… from here a Save As dialog will open save it in a safe location.

What shoul i do to make it work?

We had a crash a while back, I think it was in the jukebox area just scrolling through the wall papers. Cannot say I tried installing from an ISO file before, I assumed it would be just as fast from the ISO since there is no spin time, I just assumed installing was a straight copy of important files.

Blinker, I say this with kindness as advice for the future, if you are going to copy and paste the same question to all the places you can ask, you should spell check it first, some people just ignore questions with overly bad spelling. That being said I asked a follow up question on my blog please reply there for further support.

Yeah, the point of an optional install is just to move gamedata from the UMD to the memory card. That is why PSN purchases never have an install feature - they're already installed.

It could theoretically affect crashing or something, though, depending on the game and the quality/goals of the developers who made that game.

Hmm I never ran into that bug but I'll keep an extra close eye out for that! As for loading I think it pretty much goes like this:

uncompressed = uncompressed+install > compressed = compressed+install >> umd+install >>>>>>> umd

At least thats how I feel. Didn't like take a stopwatch to 'em or anything for authenic comparisons! So ya I think your assumptions right on!

I think even psn games do still have install options. I remember reading about MGS Peace Walker and PS Portable 2 people were asking if they oughta use the installs on their psn copies. They're identical to the umd releases basically.
