...T-Tawaraya...?
...T-Tawaraya...?
Please tell me they did not just change his name to Tawalaya.
I just started watching the dub, and...just...what the heck? Both Ender and some random PC called him "Tawalaya"!
That takes the whole purpose of the "Tawara no Touta" thing away!
I just don't get it!
Please tell me I'm just hearing things. I'm hearing things, right?

The letters R and L are interchangable in Japanese, so it's really not that big of a deal. Not like anyone watching the dub exclusively would get the Tawara no Touta thing anyway.
What I'm mad about is Ovan's dialogue. They took his philosophical ramblings and ruined all the plant puns, making him look like he's a rambling engrish lunatic. Seriously, last night's episodie, he was all like
"If the Key of the Twilight exists, it does not exist, for there can be many or one, and only one, for this game abides by it's own rules, untouched by the system."
....
WHAT?! Holy ****, I'm the .hack Mawd Gawd and even I couldn't understand what the f*ck he was going on about.

I not positive what he meant either. . . but I think he's just saying that the Key is independent of The World itself. The Key is unknown item, so I think Ovan was just, in a retarded way, explaning the possible outcomes when they find the item.AuraTwilight wrote:"If the Key of the Twilight exists, it does not exist, for there can be many or one, and only one, for this game abides by it's own rules, untouched by the system."
. . .
. . .
. . .
Still, I'm starting to lose interest in //Roots. With the whole episode speeding up, average voice acting, and terrible scheduling by CN. . . I'm close to just saying "That's it, I had enough!!"
...Wow, Ovan must've had something to drink before he said that or something. That practically gave me a headache.AuraTwilight wrote:What I'm mad about is Ovan's dialogue. So glad I skipped the most recent one. I don't think I'll be watching any more of the dubbed episodes anytime soon. >_>

Not all of them are crap, I like Shino's voice and Naobi's. The only one I hate and think was the worst choice made by Ocean Studios was Tawalaya's. He doesn't act his part, he just talks without getting into the moment.Kiru wrote:(Not average, many of them are crap) Voice Acting, and useless changes just make me wonder why they bothered.

Because his two characters, Tawaraya and Touta, have to do with a warrior from the Muramachi era named Touta who came from the Tawara region. I just liked the story behind it, so I was disappointed. There's nothing wrong with me being disappointed, is there? I was disappointed when they changed names such as Yowkow (which is a seriously kickass name) and Grima Lowe, so I'll be disappointed about this too.
It doesn't sound awkward or weird to me. =/ But there is a such thing as differences in opinion.Orion wrote:Just say out outloud with the R pronounciation, it sounds awkward and just weird.

A website I read claims that Tawaraya and Touta are voiced by the same English VA.Bulletcatcher wrote:I like Tawalaya's VA, but it makes me wonder if Touta will sound like him.

EDIT: Here's the source.

I don't know if it's accurate or not, but if you scroll down enough, you'll see that it says "Mark Acheson as Tawalaya/Touta." It also says that Ender and Pai have the same voice, and Yata and Naobi have the same voice.
EDIT AGAIN: Figured I better be safe and put spoiler tags, just in case.
