confusion about the ending

I have seen this series so many times over the years, but one thing has always bugged me...
If when it shows the players Tsukasa and Subaru meeting in the real world, the meeting is for real, why just as they touch hands does the background revert to the blue hexagons like when Tsukasa realized that the false mimiru was false and the illusion was broken? wouldn't that imply that that meeting itself was another illusion?

People still make up this silly theory?

No it is not imagined at all. Its meant to symbolize the begining of the Morgana Incident. Tsukasa is awake and living her life well. Besides if it was imagined it would seriuosly conflict with alot of .hack canon.

It's just a visual tease.

How does Unison form into any of this? That episode was just a for fun episode. Just like Sora is DD'd by Skeith, but then comes for the party?

I think not.

Unison is canon. It occurs after Quarantine, which is why Sora is there and not comatose.

Since when was Unison a "fun" episode? It was released in .hack//Integration AFTER the .hack games were all released. Chronologically it happened after the games. Did you not listen to the part about why Aura gave Kite a new bracelet?

Exactly!
Plus in Unison, Tsukasa, Mimiru and Subaru were talking about going shopping in Shimokitazawa

Subaru: Tsukasa...

Tsukasa: Subaru....

Tsukasa: Next time will you come with me on vacation, Subaru?

Subaru: Yes. Let's both go to Shimokitazawa.

Tsukasa: Ah! of course, you too Mimiru!

Mimiru: Sure. Shopping and eating crepes. :D

Edit: Spelling and Tsukasa, Mimiru, Subaru conversation text...

I bought the anime legends .hack//SIGN complete collection so I still haven't seen Unison, but I want to sooo badly! From what I've read it just gives the whole Twilight Incident the "happy ending" feeling more then it already did :D

No it doesn't mean that..they just wanted to confusse you...make you question about the ending...to think about it more...they do that in most series to confuse you...I thought that too tee hee

No, it wasn't there to confuse people. It was just the ending. Yes Tsukasa and Subaru meet in real life, nothing 'bad' happens, or at least, I'm not aware of anything 'bad' happening besides what happens at the start of //Infection. I kind of connected it with the ending theme, where those two hands meet...

//Unison was a fun episode, but it was canon. It was made to show how the .hackers met the heroes from //SIGN, plus it also explains how the last remnants of Morganna were eliminated.

...Tsukasa fangirl likes seeing her little Tsukasa get all sexeh on da flo.

Anywhoo, to wrap up all argument about Unison...

1) It was canon.
2) Kite kept the bracelet and erradicated the Data Bugs/
3) Tsukasa danced (and t_s_u_k_a_s_a liked it!).

Unison had one other... disturbing... thing about it. In the english dub, Balmung says: "This party looks like the Bomb-diggity."

That doesn't even sound like Balmung...
