Replay value

Just been thinking about this while I'm messing around doing the item quest, getting everyone up to level 99, and whatnot. (Geez, to finish the items, apparently I finally have to figure out how the Springs work and throw a lot of stuff into them. I never bothered before! :D) Yeah, I'm holding back before tackling the last (?) boss—I don't like sweating blood for an hour and being down to my last potion during a battle.

Obviously the main story stays the same each time through, but with the game's unique area system there are, what... something like 1,050,600 possible areas? (That's 100 × 103 × 102, assuming I'm thinking about this correctly.) Bandai could have hidden hundreds of Easter eggs in there, and not told anyone about them! If I were a game developer, I sure would have. ;)

I wonder if anyone's been crazy enough to try to organize an effort to catalog every area. Obviously it would take a large team of people, each one taking a section of keywords and exploring each area thoroughly, then reporting their findings and putting them into a database. Probably not many people are quite obsessive enough for that! :P

Maybe next time I play through it, I won't get any of the side characters... or I'll try not giving up on the Zeit challenge, or.... Yeah, there's a bunch of reasons to play through another time or two!

Grrr, how could I forget the keywords for the Balsa Armor?

do you know how long that would take? even with a group of people. there are almost limitless cominations. and i'm guessing that after a while even with differtn keywords some feilds would start repeating themselves to exact dungeon ect. there is millions of combinations. and seeing as how everyone on this forums i'm assuming plays .hack only a few have found areas with little extra's (the santa clause and reindeer grunty, dungeon with no magic portals ect.)

I agree. This game does have a lot of replay value. Either way you play the game you will have fun and get indulged. The side quest and events are a good distraction from the main story. Don't worry about ruining the challenge by being over the level required to take down the boss it makes the game easier and fun.
