Area Status - Blue and Red Person Icons

I am just wondering what the blue and red icons that look like people mean on the Area Status when using the Chaos Gate. My only guess right now is the blue is a higher chance of meeting regular PCs and the red is a higher chance of meeting PKs, but I am really not sure and have not found this info anywhere.

Im woundering that to. My guess is pkers O.o I looked in the manual but it didn't say anything.

Handy dandy strategy guide says blue is the number of players in an area, and pink is the number of players you've met. Useful for that annoying flyer quest and for finding Chaotic PKs.
