I love the voice actors and all (most of them, anyway), but I have so many viedo games with Yuri Lowenthal and Johnny Yong Bosch now, it's getting a little tiring hearing the same voices all the time.

Pros:

- Characters are more developed than in IMOQ.
- The separation of dungeons and fields to make it easier to train.
- Inclusion of a Player vs Player arena.
- Voice acting is solid.
- Guild System.
- Magic is permanent and not based on equipment.
- Chim Chims are an interesting system.
- Data Drain no longer is a chore regarding the retrieval of key virus cores.
- Wallpaper was really nice and a change from the books of ryu requirement.

Cons:

- Combat is more hack and slash than and MMO.
- The story, while worthwhile, often feels like it's rushing some details.
- Avatar battles, while interesting, are often out of place with the MMO combat.
- The story itself wasn't quite replayable, but IMOQ's wasn't either.
- Characters that are important to the story have far too unique designs, including Gaspard and Silabus.
- Perhaps there was too much in the terms of side quests? (More so on the card game, but I'm sure not everyone is into trading card games.)

Honest, the only thing I feel is lacking in the G.U. games are giving commands, it was much easier in the originals.

Although the "fighting" styles do kinda fix the issue, but I still like ordering them to do it when I want them to in the originals :P

(I'm sleepy so I'll edit tomorrow with more, A lot more pros And cons)

Pros:
Easy to control and quick battle system
Pretty good environment/background and music
Cool weapon enhancing system

Cons:
That "overpowered main character" issue we always have...
Could be more like a MMORPG
Very easy to beat. Maybe too much
Just... lame ending...

That's it for now check later for more pros and cons(gotta sleep)

I agree with these too.

Which loose ends are you talking about btw? I'm pretty sure you're right but I can't put my finger on what they are.

Mainly character backgrounds. Knowing about those actually clears up minor things in the games, nothing big, but they're nice bits of information to know especially in a game that's really heavily reliant on the characters rather than the story.

I never had too much of an issue with lack of .hack//ROOTS knowledge when I played the games. In fact, the only character I felt was necessary regarding ROOTS knowledge was Phyllo.

Hmm...I'm just playing Redemption so I can't really speak for the whole series...however..since many pros were mentioned, I'll say some of the "cons" I thought were present. Of course, they are influenced by the my playing style and whatnot, so here goes:

Cons:
My opinion of a con is the field/dungeon reward system. It's great and all to get a reward, but sometimes...I just want to return to town ASAP XD
Not being able to save between arena and avatar battles, though it is a gameplay mechanic and a inconvenience at times.
SP Regeneration =D I think the rate is similar to IMOQs, but I guess I would personally prefer something like 5-7 SP points per second =p *Looks to Atoli. She eats so much SP it's ridiculous*
