PKing and Kite's Bracelet *Beware. 100% chance of spoilers*

Post by nekoryuuha »

As I remember it, after .hack//sign PKing was made impossible to do on the next versions. Since the only way to hurt another character in The World that is left is to be under charm or confusion, then how did Kite have Blackrose attack and destroy the bracelet? Is this a foreshadow of the ability to PK in .hack//GU? Post your thoughts of this.

The PKing = illegal thing was only a plot device to keep the player from attacking NPC/PC's. Storylinewise, PKing was never made illegal, since there's nothing actually wrong with it.

I agree. I mean whats so bad about pking anyways? Go play any random MMO's and they'll allow it.

PK wasn't made illegal, it was disabled. But that still doesn't explain how his bracelet managed to be hit... I guess either him and his bracelet are sperate entities (well, it is part of Cubia) so perhaps it was available as a target while Kite himself wasn't, or they just forgot.

Yes... Though they claim this, in Unison Sora was trying to freely kill Mistral. Though apparently that happen's after the games, but they say nothing about about a large update or naything of the sort.

Well, it's been stated that it's been re-enabled in GU...

It probably returned in Unison. LotTB had PKing as well.

I agree with Zak that the bracelet might have been a seperate target. Either that, or it's just an error that was overlooked for the story.=P

Did they ever say that it was disabled after Sign? Maybe it wasn't and people were just alot more nice during the 4 games. The makers of the game maybe just don't want you randomly killing your party off by accident or purpose.

i'm pretty sure this was the case.

i don't remember anywhere in unison there being a mention of pking bieng disabled(and i'm very good at remembering the tiniest little detail in anime)

and as for the bracelet, it was most likely a combination of PKing being allowed, and the bracelet being a sepperate target.

chance's are that a bunch of sora like kid's start running around killing people, then in retaliation to this, a whole lot more people(with no high and mighty attitude) say i want to get them back. there could also be a few case's of someone going after just one type of player(extremist of idiotic proportion's).

my guess is that with all these guild's being high on PKing, that there would have to be some retaliation. plus, the green knight's don't appear to be too player friendly, so that would also contribute.

then you have the PKK's who have to kill the PK's before they kill other people, and the one's who don't like the PK's because of this reason.

basically, i'm saying that with all of these combustable element's floating around the air, it would only be a matter of time before PKing become's a large problem and then  BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM

i don't see PKing as a problem, but i haven't played too many MMORPG's, so i can't exactly talk.if anything, i reckon it would be fun!

I have played Free Ragnarok servers where you can PK anywhere, any place, (even in town). Needless to say, I quit each one. Its frightening. You try to level up and someone jumps up out of nowhere and kills you, then walks away. Its a big problem. I'de say its human nature to try to kill everything in sight (in games) because it might give you a rush. Of course, its also in human nature to not give a crap what other people think.

Eh, I'm a Cynic ;D.

I thought they just disabled it in towns. besides anything concerning the bracelet is in the air because it bends the rules of The World to its whim.

Maybe in games, but not in real life. That is why the military spends all kinds of money for training soldiers to kill, desensitizing them to violence in order to make them effective on the battlefield. 8)

Have you ever seen murderers in real life? They're nuts. I'm not saying ALL people are like that, but alot of Humans have that need or want to hurt someone, and sometimes it can go too far.

Also, maybe in the game PKing was only made "Illegal" like commiting murder is illegal, but not impossible. Since it is virtual reality, you may be able to do most of the things you can do IRL. If they made PKing impossible, maybe you wouldnt be able to touch their shoulder or get too close. PKing is physical contact, too.

I had a feeling you'd argue this, but it's estimated that only 1 out of 10,000 people, or it could be 100,000, not sure, but it's a lot, ever attempt to commit murder. So you're condemning our species because of the actions of this vast minority? Then yeah, I guess that does make you a cynic.
