I know we all have our own styles. I like RPG's that have beautiful graphics and great story boards, I also enjoy the variations in battle styles. There is the line-up of max. 4 characters, the charge into battle and hit the buttons as fast as possible, also there is a tactical style of you can move so many blocks and attack/heal/defend/blah/blah/blah...I enjoy all of these. What's yours?

I've got Kingdom Hearts fever again. My second place vote would be Final Fantasy though. Woot woot! lol

I like the "real time" battle sequences, so my vote goes to the "Tales" series. They also seem to have a good storyline to them. FF isn't too bad, except for the turn based battle system.

I believe that changed for FF 12
for me FF is ok, KH is cool, but I'm a dothack guy plan and simple...may not have the best of everything but it's still addicting to me

I will probably never enjoy Final Fantasy until FFXII. Otherwise, the only ones I'll probably try are VIII and X. Ever since I played VII, I've had no interest in the series.

Honestly I like .hack// style of battle. Where it's sort of "all out" and non civil. Taking turns sort of degrades the idea of battle. So my choices would be .hack/KingdomHearts, Final fantasy, and then those block movement ones...

I love xenosaga/tales but xeno is my fav beacuse the story is so intense it will make you play no mater how boring the battle system is

The Ring Command from Sword of Mana. However, the AI from the female or male hero is not very good. I also liked Tales of Phantais battle engine and the fact that you can mast attacks to learn stronger versions. Plus I enjoy how you can set up attack skill to use in battle.

Style? Err. Dunno.
I like graphics, graphics are pretty.
Battle system... mm. I don't mind turn based or real time, but I'm not a fan of cardbased (BK is different). I like a 3 character limit.
Good story is a must, obviously. And character development for the main characters of course.
Favorite RPG? Chrono Cross. Stunning game.

Shadow Hearts had a pretty nifty battle system.

I like the heat of battle and also to be able to free roam more... I don't like having to stick to boundaries etc like most rpgs do. I love the Elder Scrolls series especially Morrowwind (though I'm dying to play Oblivion.) Because it gives me all that I want, though the battle system isn't as pretty, though Oblivion makes up for it tenfold.

Turn based systems are the devil. I enjoy realtime liek in KH. Mayeb .hack//GU will fix all the menu things. and if they do it will be perfect. Graphics are nice but not the most important to me.

I love a good, indepth story. I'm willing to let some gameplay go, so long as it's not absolutely terrible. Graphics are a nice plus, but I'll let those go too.
That's the reason I love Kingdom Hearts, and I'm looking forward to G.U..
Kingdom Hearts 1 and 2 have all of the above. Beautiful graphics, even outside of cutscenes, fun gameplay(it's kind of button mashing, but I still love running around and whooping heartless), and a story that goes deeper than DISNEY MEETS FF, OMGWTF?! Though I love .hack//infection-quarentine's story, the graphics were mediocre and the gameplay was boring. It looks like G.U.'s improved on both of those, so I can't wait to play it.

Agreed. They put a lot emphasis on a story (or maybe just not enough emphasis on gameplay) but I guess that was the real reason behind the games. To let you play out the story instead of watching or reading it.

Indeed. Although graphics are important in improving the gameplay experience I don't think they're important as to decide whether I would play a game or not.

I haven't played hundreds of RPG Style games but of the few I have, Growlanser has entertained me more. It's also a very strategic game which makes it interesting. I enjoy the storyline of it and the cutscenes aren't drastically long. There are many different paths you can take and you can also take optional Missions and do many different things. Weapons can be customized.
There are also multiple endings that you can go through which can reveal some interesting scenes.

When it comes to turn-based, the MegaTen and Shadow Hearts series take the cake. If we're talking real-time, action-based gameplay, Dark Cloud 2 is atop my list. The .hack games have quite a bit of ambition and a decent idea for a battle system, but the gameplay is repetitive, monotonous, bland, and boring. Then again, that's what you get when you try to stretch a game across four disks, changing nothing, especially with an unexperienced development team. The plot was enough to keep me playing; but, unfortunately, a lot of general RPGamers never wanted to proceed past //INFECTION or //MUTATION, which is understandable.
