How do I find springs?

I'm a little lost as to how I locate springs. How do I determine what areas have springs before I gate in, and is there any easy way to locate them (can you zoom out the map for example)? Also how do I figure which springs do what, or am I cursed to forever collect gold and silver axes when I do finally do find one?

Appreciate the help, as well a any level 1-4 keywords to areas that are known to have springs in them.

Well, to zoom out to the overall map, just press select. You should be able to see if there's a spring then. The spring will only give you golden/silver axes if you say you dropped one in there, or if the level of the item you dropped in was too high for that field. If you don't want a gold/silver axe, then select neither amd the spring will upgrade or downgrade the weapon/armor you threw in based on the weather in the field.(If I remember correctly, as a general rule, weapons tend to be upgraded in brighter weather, like sunlight or sunset, while armor is ususally upgraded in places where it's raining or cloudy. I could be wrong though.) I can't help you on the keywords part though, sorry. ^_^;

Thanks!

Best bet is to aquire all 3 grunty's per each server and use the one that searches for the Spring of Myst.

Spring of Myst will appear in Leaf Mold, Earth, Desert, Wilderness and Grassland fields. The part B/C keywords can determine the field-type. D:

Lightning is an element... Leaf Mold, Earth, Desert, Wilderness and Grassland are field environment types.

BTW, here's the affect that weather will have on armor and weapons.

Weather/Weapon/Armor
Day / +2 / -1
Sunset / +1 / +1
Night / +1 / +1
Sunset / +1 / +1
Cloudy / +2 / -1
Rain,Snow, or Thunder / -1 / +2

Also depending on what the level of the field is.

Yep, and you also get a Gold and Silver Axe by dropping rare items in. Also, you're right in the fact that Armor goes up it rainy weather and Weapons go up in clear daylight, both by two. The other way around takes them down one, and taking either to a spring of Myst in clear nighttime brings in up one, whether it's a weapon or Armor.

There isn't a Grunty that searches for the Spring of Myst though, one does dungeons, another does portals, and another does food. But the Spring of Myst is always in close proximity of the Dungeon, so either the select trick would work, or keep going around with the dungeon on the edge of the map.

Sometimes the part A words can determine it as well. But, whatever word you see a red gem at "Field Type" means it's being controlled. Also, Springs of Myst won't be in Wilderness fields. (BTW, to avoid confusion, "Earth" fields are not Earth element... they're the fields with the La Pumpkins, usually Darkness but sometimes Thunder. In fact, Earth Element fields will not have a Spring of Myst).

Also, a good way to find the Springs of Myst would be at first glance to see the element in the corner.

-If it's Earth, you won't want to be there, no Spring of Myst whatsoever.
-Water, you probably won't want to be there either. Snow fields don't have them, and there's a TINY chance it'll be a Grassland field, but if it is, it'd be always raining because it's a Water field.
-Fire... if it's one of the Scorchings, there won't be, but if it's a desert, there will be. See words below to determine. Oh, and it will never be rainy.
-Wood fields will ALWAYS have one, and the weather varies. Again, word list below determines.
-Thunder fields always have one, and it's always gonna be raining.
-Darkness fields always have one, and the weather varies.

If you want to get a Spring of Myst without using random keywords, I can guarantee you that these keyword parts will get you one with the effect mentioned as long as they aren't overtaken, meaning, the gem below them must be red. Just, don't use two of them at the same time, and you can guarantee this will work.

Part A:
Lost (won't rain)
Incessant (won't rain)
Seeding (won't rain)
Dripping
Ancient
Billowing
Corroded (won't rain)
Cracked (won't rain)

Part B:
Hot-Blooded (won't rain)
Destroyer's (won't rain)
Solitary (won't rain)
Talisman
Orange
Organ Market
Golden (won't rain)
Passionate (won't rain)
Wind Sand's (will be daylight)
Emerald (will be night)
Starving (will be daylight)
Tempting (will be night)

Part C:
Aqua Field (will be daylight)
Sea of Sand (will be daylight)
Twin Hills (will rain)
Hypha (daylight)
Paradise (daylight)
Fiery Sands (night)
Fertile Land (night)
Walkyrie (won't rain)
Sipping Bug
Chaos
Grasslands
Prairie
Judgment (won't rain)
Haunted Land (won't rain)
Walkway
Milestone (won't rain)
Kaleidoscope (won't rain)
Impulse (won't rain)
Feeling (won't rain)
Sanctum
Footstep
Remains (won't rain)
Raw Ore (won't rain)
Mirror World (won't rain)
Wavemaster (won't rain)

If you use ANY of those words while the field type gem under them remains red, you'll get a Spring of Myst as well as most likely the weather controlling result they have, unless the weather gem is red on another keyword. But you'll get a good field, no doubt. I could list keywords that control the weather, but that'll be going too off topic.

Tri_Edge1 wrote:easy solution. if the last keyword is aqua field it should always without fail have a spring in it. i use this tactic and it never fails me
Heh heh, true. Just don't use "Betrayed" as your second word or else it'll make it a Snow place! But otherwise, Aqua Field would work. That's the only word that'll make Aqua Field fail.

Wow, Zak covered the whole thing.
Only two words you need to know for the third placement:
~Twin Hills
~Sea of Sand

'Twin Hills' will provide you with an area that decreases the power of any weapon down to the next lowest weapon in its category. Just about any Thunder Element area you find will be able to accomplish this for you [as long as it's raining].
'Sea of Sand' will always give you a desert area with a Spring of Myst. It increases the power of any weapon by two slots.

For armour, the exact opposite happens. 'Sea of Sand' decreases the power and 'Twin Hills' will increase it.

Knowing how to use the Spring of Myst to your advantage is essential to conquering the Item Completion Event. Saves you the trouble of looking for the specific item.
