The Chain Swords?

Post by KrulMagus »

I'm just wondering. Do you think there will be electricity running these new Chain Swords we're seeing, or will it be some sort of Mechanical Magic? Not that it really matters but what do you think? As for myself, I'm assuming it's Electricity.

I don't think you'd need anything to use em in the game, but I'd think they might have different sources of power for weapons. The armored Haseo's sword reminds me of a chainsaw, so I'd think gasoline. The low level Haseo's sword, the one with the three barrels(two by the handle one on the tip) Would seem like it could be electrical.

I say that it will be run by a constant mech. magic.

I say this, because I dont believe that they will have electricity, because it is a more fantasy setting, not to mention that in regards to the gunner, I doubt that it's basically a gun *shrugs*

I think it would be some sort of electric energy. There is the lightining elemental stuff so it wouldn't be too much of a strech.

Steam? Or maybe a 'petrol tank' of some sort?

.Hack//GU seems quite 'industrial age', so it'd make sense to use an older industrial power than electricity. Steam is used for the guns, why not the chainsaws?

But I couldn't care less, as long as it cuts through enemies nicely, I'm happy! ^_^

I have to say mech magic. It would make sense if the magic was limitless, electricity would just run out. That would make a weapon in a game stupid and crappy.

I probibly think it would be magic, knowing the creators, they wouldnt want to make it too much like Final Fantasy with the guns. They probibly waste magic when they take it out for use.

What do you mean? The gunner is a whole class, so they shouldnt do that, it would make the gunner class even harder than it is at the moment, I"m supposing it's pretty hard, considering the long recharge time, and the high damage, like a Heavy Blade,

I'll go out on a limb and say the chainsaw blades are powered by perpetual motion. ^.~

After all, if they were powered by fuel, you'd have to buy a whole bunch of it to take with you at whichever Root Town you just left...not to mention that would take up what could end up being valuable space in your inventory. I wouldn't want to be running out of fuel during a battle with a Data Bug-corrupted boss...would you?

Perpetual magic would probably cost SP...so I don't think that would be practical for everyday hack-and-slash techniques. Maybe good for weapon skills, but that's about it.

Guess we'll find out next summer, won't we?

I say it is mech magic. If it is electricity then it would suck if you have to get batteries for that weapon and you can't use it without recharging it or something.
