"Magic" is a product of neither legends nor fairy tales. It has become a technology of reality for nearly a century. Various countries in the world are locked in a race in nurturing "Magicians".
Tatsuya Shiba is an honors student without magic capability at First High School, a magic high school, along with his sister Miyuki, who happens to be the top student among the freshmen. What will happen to him, and how will he live his school life where he is one of the many reserves in the school looked down upon by the chosen magical students?
Mahouka Koukou no Rettousei (The Irregular at Magic High School) is a Japanese light novel series written by Satou Tsutomu with illustration by Ishida Kana. The novel began as a web novel serialization in "Let's Become a Novelist" on October 12, 2008. It then became the second web novel after Sword Art Online, to be commercialized and published by Dengeki in July 2011.
Basically, its kinda Freezing+To Aru Majutsu No Index+Incest.

Episode starts off with the history of the world being explained. World War 3 happened and countries use soldiers that use magic. Things then go to Tatsuya Shiba and his sister Miyuki Shiba talking about how Tatsuya should have ranked higher in the school due to his test scores. Tatsuya tells Miyuki that she is higher in rank due to being better at magic as that holds more weight than test scores. Tatsuya tells her not to worry and after some incest subtext Miyuki leaves. Tatsuya runs into the student council president Mayumi Saegusa and they more or less just exchange names at that point. Tatsuya goes to class and he meets Mizuki Shibata and Erika Chiba. The three of them have names that rhythm. The 3 of them leave the classroom and they meet up and talk with Miyuki. Mizuki and Erika introduce themselves. Their is tension between high ranking and low ranking students. At their home Miyuki and Tatsuya are talking some more about school and stuff. Miyuki nearly freezes some coffee but Tatsuya calms her down. The next day they are at a dojo and this guy called Yakumo sneaks up on Miyuki. He puts scares and Tatsuya and him have a friendly spare. Later at school the group meants Leo and while eating the Blooms want Miyuki to join them and leave the weeds. This leads to a fight outside. It is argue that Blooms aren't better and that Miyuki should be able to see her brother. They show off their magic and the group proves to be stronger than the Blooms. The fight or whatever is stop be the student council and Tatsuya comes in and says its just harmless fun. He states the sides were just showing off their skills and that Mizuki's spell was suppressed.
Episode 2 picks up were episode 1 left out. Miyuki and Mayumi keep states that things were a misunderstanding. Mari lets things slide. Honoka and Shizuku thank Tatsuya and they go to the station. On the way there the main characters/group are all talking about magic and stuff. The next day Mayumi tell Miyuki if she wants to be a part of the student council. Later in the student council room Mayumi introduces everyone and there roles there. Suzune is the treasurer, Mari for discipline committee and Azusa for secretary, and Hanzo(not there atm) as vice president. Miyuki asks Mari if she made her lunch herself. Tatsuya and Miyuki can tell due to her hands. Miyuki suggest she and her brother make their own lunches. Tatsuya states sure but they don't have a place were they can be alone. Suzune states that those two are more like lovers than siblings. Tatsuya says if he wasn't blood related to Miyuki he would have her as his lover. It throws everyone by surprise and then it states he is joking. Mayumi explains how the election process works and Miyuki ashes if her brother can be a part somehow. The council explains there Tatsuya can be a part of discipline committee. They explain what his jobs is such as breaking up fights and stuff. Tatsuya questions about how can he stop due someone using magic his his practical test skills were poor. Mari states if it comes to strength she is there to deal with that. The bell rings and they agree to continue discussion later. In a class the main characters are pushing some magic device but Tatsuya notices he is doing everything too slowly. Later back in the council room they talk some more. Hanzo the vice president doesn't like the fact that a weed is joining stating his skills are too poor. Miyuki protest and the others state the Bloom vs Weed thing is too much of a problem. Tatsuya challenge Hanzo to a battle. He agrees. On the way to the room for the battle Miyuki questions why she often causes problems for Tatsuya but he tells her not to worry. In the room for battle Mari explains the rules and Hanzo prepare his plan. At the start of the battle Tatsuya quickly gets behind Hanzo and knocks him down. Ep ends their.
Episode starts off with the the girls in the student council putting Hanzo up against the wall. Tatsuya walks to his case where he is carrying his CADs. Mari then questions what did he do to Hanzo. Tatsuya states it wasn't magic and that it was a physical attack. Miyuki explains that her brother practices ninjutsu under Yakumo Kokonoe. Tatsuya then explains Hanzo was wasted because he was exposed to unexpected psions that he Tatsuya generated. Azusa then questions and sees the guns that Tatsuya is carrying. She keeps trying to get her hand on them. Suzune Ichihara questions the variables Tatsuya used. Hanzo gets up, explains this is what happens when test doesn't show the true abilities of people, apologizes to Miyuki for saying her brother is just a weed and walks off. Mari takes Tatsuya to a room that is rather trashy with stuff everywhere. They talk about the bloom and weed problem and Koutaro and Midori from other classes come in. They are surprise he beat Hanzo and welcome him. Later at Tatsuya's house Miyuki walks into his room and ask him to recalibrate her CAD so that she can be more effective in combat. He agrees and she drops her robe while blushing as she is just in her bra and panties. She lays on the machine and is getting scanned. When Tatsuya is done Miyuki walks up behind him and starts rubbing her breast up on him. Incest talk and she ask if Mayumi and Mari are the type of women he likes. She is jealous and cast a spell on him(self repair auto start) He gets up afterwards. Later all of the council members in the discipline department are introduce. Shun is being the there is no way someone who did low on test can do what you did guy. Outside Erika is getting annoyed by some other students who want her to join their club. Tatsuya knocks out one the guys and grabs her and run. When they are far away enough he gets peak at her cleavage. Later in a kenjutsu club this girl and guy is fighting. The girl beats the guy and the guy decides to use magic for the next round. Tatsuya shows up and disables his magic sword. Other people try to attack him but fail and they wonder why a weed is on the discipline committee.
The episode starts off with Tatsuya explaining the what happened with the kendo club fight. Mibu and Kirihara had were sparing and Tatsuya steps in when Kirihara used lethal magic. Tatsuya sends Kirihara to the health committee and he admitted his wrong doing. Katsuto Juumonji(chairman of the Extracurricular Activities Federatoin) is there and approved of Tatsuya's actions with dealing with the problem. Later the group (Tatsuya, Miyuki, Erika, Leo, and Mizuki) are all taking about how Tatsuya deal with the magic sonic sword. Miyuki talks about how her brother is the best with some comical incest subtext. Leo states you know that isn't just brother sister talk right. His face hits the table. After Miyuki gets closer to Tatsuya Erika's face hits the table and Leo's again. Tatsuya tells Miyuki not to get carried away. The group then goes on to talk about Tatsuya's skills. He basically can cancel other magic out. He states he doesn't show/explains this skill for research because it would be used for the wrong reasons such as war. The next day Tatsuya sees this guy in black after getting an alert about a brawl breaking out. The guy tries to ambush him but his attack is canceled and he is wearing a certain wristband. Later after a class Mibu asks Tatsuya to talk to her. Miyuki is worried of course and Tatsuya states its likely nothing but to join the kendo club. When Tatsuya is talking to her it is about joining the kendo club and to use his power to speak for people who aren't as talented in magic. Tatsuya leaves and refuses. Mibu is seen talking to some guy outside that states they need Tatsuya's abilities. Tatsuya is later seen talking to Mayumi, Mari and Azusa about the talk he had with Mibu. While talking about what happen Miyuki begins to freeze her surrounding areas a few times as she thinks something is going on be between Tatsuya and Miyuki. He explains how the students don't like the discipline committee and the organization called Blanche. Later Tatsuya is called for an appointment by the school counselor Ms Ono. She asks him questions and stuff including things about Mibu. To end the episode Tatsuya shows Miyiku information about Blanche.
Things start off with Tatsuya working on his practical magic skills and Mizuki is watching him. After a few tries he gets it right. Mizuki states he really does struggle with practical skills. Tatsuya states that he does belong is the lower ranking classes due to his skill. Mizuki also explains how Tatsuya does his spells and Tatsuya states how she has a good eyes for this type of thing. Tatsuya states he wants to use magic to develop energy and this gives Mizuki inspiration to find out what she wants to use magic for aside from just controlling her eyes. She gets a bit too hype and draws attention to herself from Erika and others. Later Mibu and Tatsuya are talking again. It is more stuff about how Blooms and Weeds are treated. Tatsuya tell her he doesn't share her ideals and leaves. A little later. Mibu and a group of students who hate how things are run stage a protest. They take over the broadcasting room and tells everyone that they demand equal treatment. Tatsuya shows up where the other members of the student council are. They discuss on how to handle things. Mibu gives Tatsuya her number and she calls them. They agree to negotiate things. No one is harmed but they are stilled put on lockdown. The next day Tatsuya sees Mayumi and he asked what happen. Mayumi states they agree to have a debate about these issues later. In a hallway some guy(Kinoe Tsukasa) kept asking Mizuki about joining their club. Tatsuya realizes he was the guy that tried to attack him before plus he had the that wristband. That night Tatsuya and Miyuki talk to Sensei Yakumo Kokonoe about info on things like Blanche and the Kinoe. He gives info on Kinoe's history. He states they that are likely planning something. The next day during the debate Mayumi gives an epic speech on how the Bloom and Weed thing is wrong. She wins it of course and Blanche members start attacking the school with explosives and poison gas. The guys that break through the front out taking out pretty faster. The council members go in different places to stop them. We see a bunch of people with guns and stuff attacking the school and students. Tatsuya and Miyuki are about to head to the place were the first explosion happen and the ep stops there.
Things start off with Leo beating up some Blanche members. Miyuki and Tatsuya show up. Erika comes from the other direction. After a little talking about what is happening Ms Ono shows up and tells the group that their target is the library. She also tells Tatsuya to give her another chance. On their way their the group is running through the middle of a brawl between the students and Blanche members. Leo stays behind to fight and they explain his magic(Panzer). Inside the library Tatsuya uses magic to sense how many people there are. There are 2 on the side of the stairs, 1 at the top of the stairs, and 4 in the Special Reading Room. Erika goes to take out the guards and keep them busy. Mibu is thinking to her is this what she wants(dealing with Branche and stuff). Tatsuya and Miyuki break down the door and destroy what ever computer data the Blanche members were trying to get. One draws a gun but gets his hand frozen by Miyuki. Tatsuya explains to Miyuki that a world where everyone is equal doesn't exist and if it did it would suck. She says to Tatsuya that growing up he was likely compared to Miyuki. Miyuki states she doesn't care. There is a picture of Tatsuya and Miyuki standing like meter form each other naked and then one with this friends. Miyuki then states she feels sorry for Mibu and tells her she is the one holding herself back and that magic skill isn't the only thing. One of the Blanche guys gets up and throws a smoke bomb. Mibu use a magic jamming ring. They try to escape but are stopped by Tatsuya. Mibu gets out of the room and Tatsuya tells Miyuki not to stop her due to Erika waiting on the outside. Erika has a sword fight with Mibu. She is overwhelming her with her speed from an acceleration spell. Erika uses a technique similar to Mari. She breaks the sword in Mibu's and and tells her to pick up another sword off the ground. Mibu is defeated and her arm is broken. Erika tells Mibu she is a member of the Chiba family and stuff. A bit later that day the Blanche member from the last episode is caught after being confronted. Later the group and the council is asking Mibu questions. Mibu explains her past and it turns out it was a huge misunderstanding with Mari. She thought Mari didn't want to fight in kendo due to the Bloom/Weed thing. Mari explains her skills as a swordsmen are better and she should find someone of greater skill. She starts crying thinking she wasted a year of her time. Tatsuya tells her it wasn't a waste because her skills improved. She starts trying on him. After that Tatsuya asks about Blanche. The council states he shouldn't be involved but that they just can't let things go like this. They agree to go let him go to the Blanche headquarters. Ms Ono was there trying to ease drop but Tatsuya notices her. When its time to go the guy that picked a fight with Mibu asks Katsuto Juumonji to go as well. He agrees after a few questions.
Episode starts off with Tatsuya discussing the plan with the others. While Katsuto is driving Leo uses Panzer around the car so that it can break through the gate of Blanche's Headquarters. Inside Tatsuya and Miyuki are together and Tatsuya uses his abilities to see if anyone is beyond the walls. A bunch of Blanche members are there. They walk in the room and are greeted by the leader of the Japanese Blanche branch, Hajime Tsukasa. Tatsuya explains that he brainwash he brother and Mibu go go after him. Hajime throws up his glasses as a distraction and tries to use a magic spell to to hypnotize Tatsuya and get him to join Branche. Tatsuya see through his trick. Hajime tells the other members to shoot Tatsuya and Miyuki he they breaks their guns. Hajime runs away and Miyuki states she shall take care of the guys while Tatsuya goes after him. Miyuki freezes the members and we see a scene were Katsuto and Kirihara are shown taking out some Branche members. Tatsuya finds the room were Hajime is and before the Branche members can fire he breaks their guns. They try magic jamming Tatsuya but it doesn't work and Tatsuya explains where/how they got the antinite. Tatsuya then takes out the members and Kirihara and Katsuto shows up. Out of rage for what he did to Mibu Hirihara uses his Sonic Blade to cut off his arm. Outside Leo and Erika complain it was boring as they didn't get much action. Miyuki goes up to Tatsuya worrying she over did it with freezing the Blanche members. He tells her not to worry. After that is over Tatsuya is explaining to Mibu that no students are to be charge due to her being manipulated and that she is going to be in the hospital longer to make sure her memories are restore properly. He states he is going to come back on the day she is release to check up on her and leaves the room. Outside he sees a person called Mr. Hayama. The scene laters go to Hayama talking to some lady about Tatsuya being Miyuki's guardian. Then things jump to the day Mibu is released. Tatsuya, Miyuki, and Erika is there and they see Kirihara and Mibu talking. Mibu's dad calls Tatsuya to talk and he thanks him for saving her and telling her she didn't waste her time. He also mentions Kazama. After that Erika is teasing Tatsuya, and Kirihara about Mibu. Mibu states she love Tatsuya but couldn't keep up. She states she loves Kirihara and can keep up with him. After a little more talking Tatsuya and Miyuki are waking and she states she shall always keep up with Tatsuya no matter. She worries about him being school for her sake but tells him not to worry. They're shown walking off holding hands.
Next episode preview shows these two characters called Masaki and Shinkurou. So the Enrollment episodes are finish. Now for the Nine Schools Competition episodes.
Things start off with Miyuki practicing the Mirage Bat technique for the Nine Schools Competition. Haruka Ono shows up and Tatsuya notices her fast. Kokonoe tells her she has to distinguish her presence and not hide it. Tatsuya finds out that Ms. Ono is an agent of Public Safety and that she was train by his master. The next day Tatsuya is playing in a football match. This guy called Mikihiko Yoshida makes a nice play to help the team win. After the game Tatsuya and Leo start talking to him. Mikihiko knows Erika and askes how can Leo put up with her. Erika and Mizuki show up. Erika states they have been childhood friends but he has been avoiding her for awhile. Mikihiko, Leo, and Tatsuya comments on Erika's bloomers. Leo thinks the old school bloomers are pervert like and gets kicked hard. Later Tatsuya is at a student council meeting and they're talking about the Nine School Competition event. They talk about how they're short on engineers. Right as Tatsuya is about to leave Azusa suggest he be the engineer because he worked on Miyuki's CAD. They agree despite him being a 1st year course 2 student. Azusa then starts staring at Tatsuya's Silver Horn again talking about its details. They then starts talking about flight magic and how other people have tried it and why they failed. Later as another meeting people wonder if Tatsuya's skills are up for being an engineer so at first Katsuto and then Mayumi agree to be the test subject but Kirihara is the one to have his CAD changed. Tatsuya manually alters the CAD and they see him doing a lot of complex typing and stuff. It impress everyone there and they agree to let him be about of the team for the competition. At home Tatsuya talks to Kazama Harunobu and he explains to him to becareful at the competition. Later Tatsuya finds a way to do flight magic and has Miyuki test it out.
Episode starts off with Tatsuya and Miyuki getting off a bus and walking into the Four Leaves Technology(FLT) building. Inside they are greeted by many people working in a lab and Ushiyama who helped make Taurus Silver. Tatsuya shows him a flying device and explains some details on how its made with gravity acceleration and stuff. The people working test they flying device and its a success but the average person can't use it for too long. Tatsuya states he wants to improve it. Tatsuya and Miyuki are the walking down a hall when their father and this Aoki run into them. Aoki only greets Miyuki and she states she is not the only one there. Aoki states as the Yotsuba family butler he shouldn't have to acknowledge Tatsuya.Tatsuya basically tells him to shut up for his comments and saying he is a lot better than he thinks. Miyuki was about to freeze the area but Tatsuya stops her and said this so called bogus magician was created by his mother Miya Shiba. Flash backs of experiments on Tatsuya are shown as well as who the Yotsuba twin sisters are. Tatsuya's dad states he shouldn't speak ill of his mother but Tatsuya states he doesn't hate her. Next day Tatsuya is talking to Erika and a few others about the Nine School Competition. A ceremony is done and Miyuki is pining metals on everyone that is going to represent the school. Later in a room two girls (Eimi and Subaru) is questioning Tatsuya's skills. They think Honoka is Tatsuya's boyfriend due to calling him by first name. Like many girls in the series she likely does have a crush on him though. Miyuki states that Honoka and Shizuki are Tatsuya's friends. Later Mizuki is shown walking and she senses magic. She goes in a room were Yoshida is practicing Ancient Magic spells with spirits. Mizuki can see them due to her eyes. Yoshida almost attacks her but stops just in time. Tatsuya ask what is going on but it was really just a little misunderstanding. Later on the bus to the Nine School Competition Tatsuya is waiting on Mayumi who is late due to an family emergency. She in a dress and ask Tatsuya what he thinks. He complements her but doesn't show interest. On the bus Suzune explains that Tatsuya could cancel out her bewitching face. Hanzo asks to sit next to Mayumi. Eimi hates that she can't be on the same bus with her fiance. Miyuki worries that Tatsuya had to wait all day but Honoka and Shizuki tell her not to worry. Suddenly a car that loses control is about to crash into of the buses and everyone prepares to stop it.
The whole Magic infused into Cards taking place at a High School theme reminds me strongly of MX0. Difference is that MX0's main protagonist doesn't have powers and has to hide that, until he finds out right near the time the manga was announced to be cancelled that he can actually use magic and transferred to another magic school for his final year to learn at an accelerated pace. And that's where the manga ends. It's still worth reading though, it's pretty good and funny.
Picking up from what happen in the last episode the car is about to crash into the bus. Some of the students prepare to stop it but Mari and Mayumi tell them to stop casting spells. Katsuto, Suzune, and Miyuki do stop it though. Its explain that spells launched disorderly shall cancel themselves out. At the hotel Hanzo and Kirihara are talking about what happened earlier and about Miyuki and how strong she is. Kirihara also explains the magic exams don't always give an accurate display of ones power and that there is something special about Tatsuya and Miyuki. While walking to the building Tatsuya and Miyuki are talking and Tatsuya explains that the car thing was no accident. Basically the driver use magic to pop the tire, change the direction of the car, and bump it at an angle. The driver used so little magic(that little prions were left behind) that it seem like it was just an accident but it was really a suicide attack. Inside Erika and Mizuki are there. Tatsuya goes to take care of some business and Erika explain that she is there and is a few days early because of connections. Later at the meeting Erika gets in as a maid like dress serving people. There is a bit of hellos, and talking for awhile. Erika then mentions to Tatsuya when its just them two close by that because Tatsuya is cold she can say things to him. When the meeting is about to start Tatsuya sense something isn't right. With just a little magic the old guy announcing the event plays a trick on most people. They think he is a woman about to sing. He explains that only a few people saw through it and that using just a little amount of magic on a large scale effectively is how terrorist can attack. Later in a hotel room Miyuki, Shinzuki, and Honoka are talking about the upcoming events. Shinzuki states she wants to see Mayumi in action and Eimi knocks on the door and comes in. She suggest they go to the hot spring and there Eimi and a few others are fascinated by Honoka's bust. When Miyuki walks in they say they can't help but look. They also ask her about what type of guys she likes. Later outside Mikihiko is practicing spirit magic and is attack by 3 guys. He and Tatsuya stops him and the episode ends there.
The episode starts off with a slight flashback of what happen at the end of episode 10 but from Tatsuya's point of view. Tatsuya speeds up Mikihiko spell to stop the bad guys. Mikihiko was worried he may have been hurt if Tatsuya didn't come and help him. Tatsuya explains that he could have caught the bad guys on his own without a problem and then call people to take care of the knocked out bad guys. Kazama tells him he gave Mikihiko good advice. The next day the competition has started and in the stands the group is talking. Honoka states it sucks how Tatsuya won't see her event but he says he helped her practice and get ready. The first event shown is a surfing one. Mari uses magic to make her body and the board as one as speeds past everyone else. After that Tatsuya is at a meeting with Hazama and others. They talk for a the events and one lady their suggest that Tatsuya compete. Its stated it wouldn't be a good idea if he showed off his true military level skills. The next event is a shooting one. All the group is there minus Mikihiko and the group states he wasn't feeling good. Mayumi of course dominates the sharp shooting event. Later in the room the girls are talking about how so far everything has went good and as expected with events and the overall score. Miyuki is asked to ask if Tatsuya can fill in an engineer role for some events. Later Miyuki is talking to Tatsuya who was working on a CAD. He states thanks for letting him know and walks her back to her room. Next day Mayumi is doing another event. She walks up to Tatsuya and ask how she looks. He tell her she looks nice. She ask Tatsuya to help her stretch. They then have a little talk about how Tatsuya doesn't treat her special and talk about siblings. This lady called Izumi tells Tatsuya that she shall take care of the rest of things for prepare for the rest of the events. As expected Mayumi wins it and later Kanon is shown winning her pillar break event. In another building Suzune states they need to win 4 more of the events left and it shall come down to 1st year students to win the title. In Tatsuya's room Miyuki knocks and comes in and so does everyone else. Erika ask about a weaponized CAD and Tatsuya gives it to Leo to use and things end there.
The episode starts off with Leo testing the new CAD that Tatsuya made. It works like a sword that can extended self by splitting apart. Basically Leo has a short short that separates for long range. The next day Mari is about to do the next race. Everything is good and she is winning until the girl from the other school over accelerates on a turn. The girl from the other school flies off her board and Mari makes saves her but in the process loses her grip and the goes crashing through the barrier. Mari is in the hospital and Mayumi comes to check up on her. Mayumi states that Tatsuya rushed to get her and told the medics that she had a broken rib. They fixed with magic but she stilled needed to rest for a bit. Mayumi also state that someone/thing somehow interfered with her board because the water changed unnaturally. Mari shouldn't have lost her balance/grip on the board. In a surveillance room Tatsuya, Miyuki, Kanon, and Kei are talking about what happen. Mizuki and Mikihiko come in.They state things are being watched so that there is no foul play. After a bit of detail discussions they think someone/something changed did something underwater and that a CAD was messed with. Later that night the committee is talking about the overall score in the competition. They need Miyuki to compete in the events that Mari can't anymore. Tatsuya tell her she can do it. Next day he tells Honoka that he shall watch her race and Tatsuya also works on Shizuku's CAD. Shizuku ask if Tatsuya wants to work for her family but for now he decline. When it came to her competition she does well and with a bunch of technical explaining her magic and style with the CAD Tatsuya made is said to be the opposite of Mayumi when she does speed shooting. Later Tatsuya gives Shizuku another CAD to use and the episode stops there.
The episode starts off with Shizuku competing in a speed shooting event. She hits all of her targets and and wins the event against a student from another school. After it many of the 1st school students are talking to Mayumi and she states that they got 1st 2nd and 3rd in Speed Shooting. They then talk a little about Tatsuya's engineer skills and Shizuki ask if he wants to be the face/name of her family company for the gun CADs. He tells her to put her family's name on the CAD(which is highly advance compare to what most people use). We are then shown a conversation with students from 3rd school. They mention as far as talent is concern they have some students that are on par with the ones from first school but they mention whoever is in charge of many of the CADs being use is making very strong ones. Tatsuya is basically giving his team CADs that are two/three generations ahead of current stuff. Next day Honoka has a battle board event race. She uses magic to interfere with the waves to mess up the other students from different school. She takes off and gets an easy win. After that we Honoka thanks Tatsuya. She states while crying that normally she gives up on competitions and stuff but thanks to him she can do them. Later we are shown the Chinese discussing that their plans on making 1st school lose. Even with Mari's injuries they're doing very well. Later Tatsuya talks with Miyuki. She heard about him turning the Shizuki's offer to be the face of their company for some of the CADs down.
