A hack and slash game set in the metal gear universe where you play as the former protagonist of MGS2 Codenamed Raiden, a feature involved is "blade mode" a mechanic that allows you cut up enemies in any way you want.

I was really disappointed in this game. I think that people who have never played Metal Gear Solid would like it but I think that the old fans would feel alienated by it. It's like they took out everything that made it Metal Gear and made a completely new game and just threw in a character that looked like Raiden and called him Raiden. It just lacked that Metal Gear Solid feel to it. It did make happy though that they  Camiod Sunny.

It's not Metal Gear Solid, It's Metal Gear Rising, big difference, although you do have to play MGS4 and maybe MGS2 for the story to make sense.

It's the same thing. There is no difference. It's a sequel following the story line of one of the other characters besides Snake (Which is Raiden). It's the world universe and everything the only difference is the main character.

its not Tactical Espionage Action, it's Lightning Bolt Action, big difference, what I'm trying to say is that its not the same thing.

...That's wrong in SO many levels .-.
First of all, it's NOT a Metal Gear Solid game. Sure, it began as one, but ever since the development of the game was given to PlatinumGames (and the name changed to Rising: Revengeance), it was produced and advertised as a COMPLETELY DIFFERENT game, one with NO CONNECTION to Metal Gear Solid except for some characters, names and areas, where you would do ENTIRELY DIFFERENT things in an ENTIRELY DIFFERENT gameplay. So if you play it believing it'll be just like any other MGS game, OF COURSE you'll be confused and disappointed by it. It's like if you were playing .Hack//Infection and then complained about Versus being entirely different D8 At it's very core, they're 2 different games with no means of comparison between them. So, it's NOT the same thing, there is ALOT of difference, it's NOT a sequel and the ONLY thing that connects it to the MGS series is the name of the characters, but replace those and it becomes a WHOLE DIFFERENT game, because it IS a different game, just with MGS referrences and stuff.

And personally, i think it's a cool game. Of course, it's OBVIOUSLY NOT MGS, but it has a very fun gameplay, interesting enemies and challenges, and though i don't know about the story, it feels like one of those games where the story doesn't really matter and you can just ignore it and enjoy the fun game as it is, and if the story's actually interesting then that's just cool but not really necessary. Music also seems pretty awesome from what i can tell in another topic in here, and of course graphics aren't disappointing. So, i'm definetly interested in playing it, i'm sure i'll enjoy it, and i might even buy it XD

Then they shouldn't put Metal Gear in the name! -rage face-
The game play was pretty fun but I found a few things that was annoying like trying to block. The music is alright. I like the song they play when your close to beating a boss but I bought the game that came with the sound track and really it all just mostly sounds the same.

...how is that any different from Portable Ops? It doesn't need Kojima or standard gameplay to be good. Kojima said that part of the reason for Peace Walker was that his own son thought Portable Ops was better than his games. I haven't seen anything saying it's not canon, either. MGO actually had swordplay too, as DLC, although it probably wasn't as good. It's not MGSV, but I wasn't expecting it to be.
