December 21st, said to be the world's end by the Mayan calendar, could that be true? There are various theories about it, here are some of what will happen:

-Mayan calendar: People do beleive that the calendar end that day because it will be the absolute end; maybe a meteor, or the earth would just collapse, no one knows

-Narutal Phenomenom: Not an end, but still, from the news i heard that the NASA has proved to the date of December 21st the earth will pass through a Photonic Belt, and every electronic device will be deactivated for three days, therefore: 'Three days of darkness'

And the last and most probably it's an absolute lie(Still hilarous)... Gangnam style:

Gangnam style, why? there has been a rumor about a prophecy said by Nostradamus about the end, and it goes like this: "From the calm morning, the end will come when the circles of the dancing horse become nine(9)" Hereby, south korea, also known as the Calm Morning country, is the birth place of the compositor of the famous song: 'Gangnam Style' and obviously, the same song is known as the dance of the horse (or horse dance), and the number of circles, means zeroes.... Now to explain:

"From the calm morning(South korea a.k.a. PSY) the end will come when the circles(Zeroes) of the dancing horse(Gangnam style) become nine" So the end will come when the gangnam style reached 1000million views on Youtube this saturday(?)

Altough the last one looks somewhat convincing and elaborated, isn't it too.... Direct? What do you all think? what do you all believe?

Honestly I have heard so many "End of Days" theories that I am going just go to work or stick my head at the window of my apartment asking, "We dead yet? Nope, how disappointing." In all honesty I could die to tomorrow and I would have no regrets, I have had a good life, but that is because I believe death is just the beginning of a new journey.

In all honesty I think this is all a load of bull, but that is because I have heard to many false claims. If it does happen oh well. I don't why, I just look at the calendar for the 21 and I break of into a fit of laughter. I would love to be proved wrong....Wow do I sound pretty messed up. Hehehehe, oh well.

Actually, people DO know. The Mayan Calendar, which is actually the Long Count Calendar (they had 3 Calendars, two of which have ended SO MANY TIMES over the past years) has a beginning and an end, just like every other damn calendar that has ever existed. That calendar was created based on solar and lunar cycles, and it was divided in several sections, and everytime a section reached its end it meant a cycle was complete (remember, or learn if you didn't know, that mayans were greatly astronomical and mathematical, and their view of the world and universe was under such aspects). The whole calendar represented a cycle of creation, for a reason not much different to why our calendars represent dogs, or cars, or porn actresses...it's just what they liked to believe in and what sounded cool to name the calendar, since after all it was a HUGEASS calendar and the only thing they could think of that could represent such magnitude was the creation itself. The calendar doesn't represent the beginning or end of life, or anything huge like that...the calendar was just something they did to pass the time, to have fun with maths and assign a numerical system to large cycles for reasons not necessarily important.
Now, "experts" say that the Mayan calendar ends on the same day we call December 21st, 2012, even though if you make actual mathematical conversions, and consider that the Mayans viewed days and months differently than us (again, their calendar was a solar/lunar one, the Gregorian calendar divides days and months in an arithmetical way), the exact date would be sometime between 2000 and 2100, but either way, IT DOESN'T MATTER. Because what will happen once we reach the last day in the Mayan Long Count Calendar? The same thing that happens when the other 2 Mayan Calendars reach their end, or the minute after 11:59 on December 31st happens in our own calendar...we just flip the damned thing and start all over from the first date. And yes, reaching that date will mean that a HUGE solar cycle is over...but that's it, a cycle completed just like every other cycle we can give meaning to, because on their own they mean absolutely nothing. There are cycles everywhere in our lives, from simply waking up to go back to sleep later and then waking up again, and if we do that 666 times it'll mean ABSOLUTELY NOTHING except that we repeated that cycle a certain random number of times. And if the Mayans were alive, Mayans with full knowledge of their cycles and calendars, they'd probably recalibrate their calendar based on new observations of moon/solar phases, and perhaps create a new one that'll last for about the same amount of time, and it'll do nothing except assign a number to random cycles that are repeated as many times as the calendar size allows it. AND THAT'S IT. The Mayan Calendar ending simply means that their dates ran out and it has to start over, and the largest solar cycle ending means nothing except that the Earth has been going around the sun a hugeass number of times. NOTHING ELSE.

First of all, you didn't hear it from any news of the NASA, you read it in some random repost on the internetz, and i read a version that involved unicorns and a giveaway of a Sagittarius Cloth. The NASA hasn't said any sort of **** like that...at most they've been talking about solar flares and magnetic fields, but those have existed since LONG ago and yet we're still all here and all alive. Then, there is NO such thing as a Photonic Belt, that's just some crap invented by people who still believe that Indigo Children will bring a New World Order (and according to them i'm an indigo children...OH SO GREAT I'LL ORDER A NEW WORLD PIZZA NOW). And IN ANY CASE, if for whatever entirely unknown universal phenomena, the Earth is about to pass through some other unknown phenomena that forms a belt of photons, then well, photons are just light, so the Earth would have anything but darkness, and it'd be just like a VERY BRIGHT SUN, minus whatever is caught by the atmosphere and clouds, and every electronic device would be unaffected...at most you'd get cancer for standing in the brightness too long, but then again, the sun does just the same.

So what do i think it'll happen? People will wake up, start their routine just like every other day, there'll be a bit of paranoia just like on Friday 13th's, they'll forget about it as the day develops, the night will arrive and some people will have "doomsday parties" as they planned it, there'll probably be lots of unsafe sex and stupid decisions made, then Saturday will begin, some people will be happy that everything is fine, some will regret it all, and the world will move on to whatever the next huge focus is, such like Christmas and New Years. And that's it ~3~

Still hoping for a zombie apocalypse. Because I trust Anarchy more than I trust my own government, plus I'm prepared for it.

Totally agreed on everything. And with those aspects, the world is indeed ending already. You could say we're in the middle of an apocalypse already, it's just not as epic or flashy as in the movies or videogames D: lol

Solar storms are probably the only REAL threat we have, not a serious one but it can indeed affect electronics and overall tech stuff.
But to put it simple, your data in your computer will be safe, it's mostly wireless stuff that would be affected, satellites being entirely shut off for a bit, and yes it wouldn't last long anyways, for the average person it'd just feel like a random loss of signal in their cellphone/TV/radio. And though a strong magnetic field COULD reach the point of affecting ALL electronics, it's more likely to happen by a man-made device than the sun; if it's the sun doing it then we probably died already by the solar flare XD lol
But don't worry, the sun won't cause a storm like that anytime soon (like...thousands of years), and solar storms overall can be predicted and analyzed with anticipation before they hit the earth. So just don't trust in a GPS system while you've heard there's a solar storm and you'll be fine o3o lol

on a related note which 21 is it referring to? its 20 over here and 19 over there(you get what I mean), and the mayan making the calender either:
1. Got Lazy and just stopped counting.
2. Got shot by spanish conquistadors.

Well, since it was the mayans who set that date, then technically it would be the moment it becomes 21st on the region where the mayans used to live. And assuming their known old location in mesoamerica (southern Mexico/Central America), it would correspond to the same timezone as the Eastern Time in USA, viewed as GMT+5 in this odd little timezones system we use. For further referrence, this post was made at 12:40 EST o3o

And it was pretty much the first option. Though rather than being lazy to add more numbers, they just decided that it was enough with whatever sets of numbers they had, and made sense with all other cycles they observed. The calendar, which is just a large round piece of rock, is evenly carved, so it's not like they got lazy or ran out of space, and they also probably had "sketches" and a full idea of what they were exactly going to add before starting to poke the rock.
